I am restoring a 65 GS now that was originally silver cloud ZZ code. Upgraded the paint a little to Blade Silver (2014 Corvette) and wanted some contrast in my rockers so did them in black as are the clamshells . Removed all paint with lacquer thinner , polished the ribs , taped them with 1/8 inch tape , primed and painted . Pretty happy with them considering what I started with. Haven’t done the wheels yet but will probable keep them cast blast gray as Ed mentioned above . Purists may snub their nose but to each his own , huh? KReed ROA 14549

I am in the process of redoing the deluxe interior in a 65 Riviera. I know that Clark’s sells the foam buns for 63 and 64 but they state clearly that the 65 foam is not the same and they do not have it . My upholstery guy said that it might be easier to “modify the 63/64 foam to fit the 65 Deluxe interior than to build foam from scratch . Wondering if anyone has expertise / experience along this line ? As always , thanks . KReed ROA 14549

I have used Hagerty for 7 years and found their service to be superb and prices reasonable . They have never questioned the three claims I have had - 2 minor , and 1 major . I also have the tow policy which is worth every penny IMO. KReed ROA 14549

Look for rust in rear quarters , floor pans beneath seat and foot pan, trunk near wheel wells and rockers . I sold a very nice complete KX 425 6 months ago for $10,500. The KX engine is actually more rare than the 65 LX IMO . Good luck KReed ROA 14549

Restoring a 65 GS and finding a few unexpected problem spots . I need a passenger side quarter panel piece that is behind the rear wheel well back to the bumper and a body frame cross support where them seats bolt into- need about 10 inches of support on both driver and passenger side that I can weld into middle god existing support . Realize these are long shots since this is one of the more common place these cars rust but had to ask if anybody got a rust free Arizona parts car they are willing to cut up ?. Hi Ed -thanks much for the reply. That is exactly what happened to mine this afternoon ! Checking the level and the ring broke off . That is the correct part number btw .
