  2. Hi folks - putting my 65 GS back together and realized I dont have the throttle rod that connects to the rear carb . If anyone has one I’m interested . Here are pics form the service manual and on my other 65 for info .Any help greatly appreciated . KReed ROA 14549
  3. Here are a couple of pics from the 68 Service manual . These are for a 2 dr coupe 4900 series . Not exact from your picture but closest I could find . Not sure they are what you need but best I could find . Good luck - challenging project !
  4. I bought my first new car , a red 1964 Chevelle SS 327 , when I was 16 years old. $ 77/month for 36 months . Went through lots of clutches ,tires and girlfriends for the next three years . Got married , new baby and a sweltering 104 degrees in the shade in Dallas one Summer day . Drove past a car lot and there sat a used ‘65 GS - $3,000 and the coldest air conditioner ever imagined ( to that point I had never ridden in an AC car ) . My wife was happy, the baby was happy and I was in heaven with that dual 4 barrel with AC . Fast forward three years - going to med school , no money, and 8 mpg on the Riv. Can’t remember what gas prices were then but whatever it was, was too much .Sold it for $1800. Enter ‘67Volkswagen convertible ! Regretted it ever since . Finally got my second Riviera (white 64) about ten years ago and my 65 GS three years ago as well as a few others ! It’s an incurable illness according to my now wife but one I’ll have to live with . Just as importantly though , it’s about the many friends and camaraderie that comes with owning a Riviera . Loved all the stories above - keep them coming ! KReed ROA 14549
  5. 1965 Riviera GS Black/ Black sold for $150 K plus buyers premium = $165 K . Don’t know anything about the car but prices are crazy now . Interestingly had a red pinstripe down the side to match the redline tires . Looked nice on TV but I’m sure someone knows the details on this car . KReed ROA 14549
  6. Just found yesterday that Kevin Kinney of Maplewood ,MN. passed away at age 62 on December 19th,2021. He was a great guy and friend to many of us . Previous President of BCA and many other leadership positions and wealth of Riviera knowledge. My condolences and prayers for his family. KReed ROA 14549
  7. Agree Jason and Pat - glad it made the list anyway. KReed ROA 14549
  8. Agree with Jim that it is a big job but certainly “ educational” . In addition to all said above , dropping the steering column down is helpful and easily done . Service manual is a must have . Good luck. KReed ROA 1454
  9. Wow! That is an amazing picture Tom of your shop! Knew you had lots spare stuff but never dreamed to that extent . 🤣. Do you have more color pictures of the assembly lines? Interested in your response to Kevin above .
  10. Thanks much . I will give it a shot with a weaker spring . The warp in my door is very minimal so probably gonna have to live with it but think the “out of square “ was factory ?... It’s the lock mechanism that isn’t fitting right I think . Trying to find pics in the service manual . When I put the screws in to attach the lock mechanism there is at least a 1/4 inch gap between the the fiberglass and the lock and I am wondering if there is a bushing / spacer that should be there for support ( not sure that makes sense ). This while design was obviously poor to start with as evidenced by the bulletin put out but it is what is now so will keep working on it . Appreciate everyone’s help as always . KReed ROA 14549
  11. Have been messing with my glove box door now for two days and to say the least -extremely frustrating ! The left corner of the door is slightly warped which adds to the problem . My hinges are amazingly all OK . When I installed the glove box light , the tension on that push button spring when shutting the glove box door is way to tight and kicks the door out enough that the locking mechanism will not engage despite lubrication and working the push button spring . Also does anyone have pictures of the correct position of the locking mechanism from the back side ? Is there a bushing between the lock and fiberglass after the lock is screwed into place ? My has way to much play in the button even though the screws are tight . Also I just notice the glove box door is not square by a 1/4 inch - just never thought about it until now . Know this is a common problem on these poorly designed glove box doors but it really looks like crap if not done right . Any help always appreciated . Thanks KReed ROA 14549

  21. I have used Gran Tourismo out of Florida with good results and reasonable cost . KReed ROA 14549
  22. Pinstripe on an original panel is 2.02 mm. The ones I had done are 2.85 mm . Gonna have to live with it ! 😎( do judges carry micrometers ? 🧐🤬 KReed
  23. Hi Nick - thanks for the note. Here’s the info with website and phone . They do nice work but not cheap as you would expect . My rear bumper for the initial plating was about $800 and they do guarantee their work . I got to them through an intermediary here in Des Moines called Keystone who does all the shipping to and from included in the cost . Turn around time depending on time e of year is 3-6 months . Hope that helps
