  1. What type of gun are you using and what's the air pressure set at?
  2. Thanks for the input guys. I got it out of the frame. Used some WD and a sharp utility knife and took my time. I did have a few pieces crack out due to delamination over the years, but it will work.
  3. I've been taking apart the vent window on my doors and I need to remove the glass from the frame, but the 50+ year old glass tape is keeping it from releasing. Is there an easy way to remove the glass from the frame with out destroying the frame? I there something that can dissolve or soften the glass tape? The glass will be replaced just wanted it out in one piece.
  4. Today I finished up the front hood edge trims. After getting them all apart they got sandblasted, new mounting bolts installed and afresh coat of primer and paint. After getting the rock dings knocked out, sanded and buffed they were ready to go back together. I put some white grease on the mounting flange that was heavily rusted when I took it apart so it would aid in getting it back together. Sure enough, slid in with a nice snug fit and won't move around. Still have more buffing to do to make them super shinny, but at least the hard part is done.
  5. Joe, Can you put a wedge in the slot on the torque tube and see if it takes spring tension off of the pieces inside. Just putting it out there.
  6. It's been a while since any updates. I've been busy with the business stuff. Now it's way to hot for doing body work, priming, and the rainy season is here so it's going to have to wait until it cools down and dry up some. I did start going through parts on the self and decided to tackle the two front stainless hood strips. I have a NOS center emblem, NOS grille, and the rest of the front nose pieces are already polished and ready to install when I get to that point. So these were the only pieces left to get worked. I have to pull the mounting piece out of the stainless piece so I can fix rock dings and to make new mounting studs since the other one were rusted and broken off. It took a lot of work to get one apart since it has quite a bit of rust behind it. I ended up making a soaking box for the other piece and filled with Evapo rust. I will let it sit a few days and see if that helps. I know it's not much, but it's something.
  7. .....that new 350 crate engine and you're all ready to go. Who knew car restorations would be so easy.

  9. I used them for my 1961 Mercury restoration and the fit was right on.
  10. Joe, Could you have the brass ring laser envgraved by a trophy shop? I own a laser engraver and mark on stainless steel, aluminum and steel all the time. Just another option.

  12. Old ones like that I have seen for sale are bringing good money.
  13. Sitting at 80 F and 14% humidity right now at 9:00 tonight. May is not bad for the heat, but is dry. June gets toasty and dry. July, August and some of September is when the Monsoon's come in so the humidity will run in the 50's to 60's range. Just food for thought. Lovely cars and I can see why you would be concerned.
  14. That's a bummer Jeff. Hate to see you have to yank the engine again and go back through it all. Is there some kind of breather system to keep down the crankcase pressures? I know where you're coming from on getting it fixed and fixed for good. You will get it figured out and corrected, I just hate to see you having to tear back into it after all the hard work you put into it.

  16. I do my vehicles every year with the clay bar method. Takes all the impurities out of the paint. Then follow up with a nice good wax. Leaves that nice soft and smooth finish. Use it on the glass too.
  17. Found this stuff on Amazon and it works nice. Best dressing I've used. Not greasy and leaves a matte finish and not that trailer park gangster shine. Makes tires a rich black color.
  18. Here's your chance. Dreams do come true. https://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/cto/d/scottsdale-volvo-1800-coupe/7481692062.html
  19. I bet you were all smiles while driving around. Congrats again on all your hard wok and finally getting to hitting the roads. Can't wait until mine is done. I bet I will be smiling too.
