John, I assume that you are going to replace with the LED. Do the one door and then power them up and take a picture with it back in the door and a picture of the original bulb for comparison. Keep us informed on how it looks. Thanks

Hi John, Both the trunk and reflective type lights in the doors are the festoon bulbs. To access the bulbs you need a small standard screw driver with a fine point. On the long side of the lens near the corners there are a total of 4 ears that hold the lens in place. Using the screw driver twist in the area described between the lens and its frame to get the ears to release from the frame it is in. Be careful not to break the frame in the doors as the ears for the frame (not the lens) have a tendency to break off. The plastic in the trunk light is different from the plastic used in the door lights and the trunk is more flexible. The base for the trunk light is attached to the car while the door lights are held in the door card by snapping together and if you remove the frame the lens go in you have to open up the door card the snap the 2 pieces back together. As you are probably aware they do make LED light as a replacement in the festoon shape. I am not knowledgeable with the working of the difference in the electrical aspects to know if the LED are a piece of cake for replacement or if a variable load switch needs to be replaced in the fuse box. On the underneath side of your hood and in front of the drivers seat is the paint code for your car. If you google PPG paint stores in your area, they can mix up the paint based on the code. To the best of my recollection the cost was $13 for one pint.

I have added the fact that 206173 has been junked. My notes associated with these VIN's is to large to include with the material I put on this thread. Thanks for the opportunity to pass along the following information about the VIN Table I publish periodically. The VIN's listed are not all running vehicles. Some of them are VIN's I have found in a junkyard. I only list vehicles that I have seen for sale and the VIN is posted with the sale. If someone on this thread tells me their VIN I post it but I do not post VIN's without the owners permission or the fact that they have made the VIN public knowledge. I am not the original keeper of this list and it would be difficult to keep track of only operational vehicles.

I wanted to bring this issue to the surface for others that might be having the same problem. Special thanks to Shelbyone and Reaper1. I had the same problem in that the transmission did not want to shift into 3rd and of course the RPM's were high. The transmission input speed sensor and transmission output speed sensor were replace and the problem was solved. The 2 sensors cost between $20 and $30 dollars each depending on where they are purchased. My total bill from the mechanics shop was $160. This TC is a 1991 triple black V6 with the A-604 transmission.

Yes Reaper1 it is glued onto the A-pillar and it will tear very easily. I tried removing one in a junk yard and it tore. Shelbyone if you find 2 of them let me know. This problem I believe happens when the car is kept in the garage and the door is not opened far enough and your feet hit that spot on the weather striping. One of my TC is not as bad as yours but it is in the same spot.

Look in the soft top well to see if the two holes in the bottom of the well are cover over before you go to the extreme of taking too many parts off of the car. There is a depression on each side of the well with a hole in the bottom and it can collect trash as well as water.

Matthew, I like the way the hard top is connected to the straps on the hoist as it keeps the hard top square with the car. As you can see in my picture the 4 point connection causes the top to rotate slightly and is a pain when I have to walk around the car. I think I will be changing mine. I hook a strap over each of the pegs on the back that go into the pull down and I loop a strap over each front corner and I open the "J" hock and put the strap under the handle to act as a safety so the strap does not slip off the front corner

I built my own hoist buying a hoist from Harbor Freight for around$100 and other misc. parts for $25. The hoist is the cheaper model that lifts 440 pounds and the hard top weights 85 pounds. I got a pipe and heavy duty metal straps, bent them and mounted one end thru the ceiling into the ceiling joist above. See picture. Any questions just ask.

You guys are either both right or both wrong. If you look at the red service manual fuse #6 is the cigar lighter and #16 is all the lamps including the illuminated entry (see page 8W-6). If your are looking at the blue service and on page 8W-6 fuse #16 is the cigar lighter and #6 is all the other lamps including the illuminated entry. I don't have my SOHC here to look at. Nile do you have both a DOHC and V6 handy you can check out?

I'm thinking the pull down motor switch would be the easiest to get to and real handy to the trunk.

Certainly sounds like a broken or stuck thermostat to me.

Hi Bro, This is the TC you drove to Charley's. The door should not be opened if the windows are up as I am afraid that the glass might crack. I have a 1/4 window with nice looking weather stripping. Do you have more information on how to change the stripping without removing the window? Bob

The blue book is for the 2.2 and 16V engines. The red book is for the V6 and 16V engines.
