  1. Stakeside, I do not know. I would like to find out. Judging from my 1928 D B Senior 4 door the truck frame has to be longer. How much ? I do not know. I would like to have a stakeside than a 4 door sedan from the standpoint of easier restoration. My Owners manual does not say.
  2. I just read Jon thread. I always enjoy and learn something from him .
  3. My B B 1 Carter had the pointy type but was changed to accommodate the ethanol gas by redesigning the new type with a flat rubber at the end . I think it does not work efficiently as the cone type. In the old days when there was no Viton tip every body used grinding compound to seat them as a unit. It worked. Use a good fuel filter. Diesel injector pumps needle and seat are similarly done. Each injector and seat as a unit. I think if you find the cone type go ahead and use it but use high end gas only, I think the high end gas does not have ethanol. I may be wrong. If you intend to use high end gas you will have to advance the ignition timing most likely.
  4. The only thing I can think of is if you can find a company that does hot galvanize coating. check for one near you. A good sheet metal guy can roll a new shell and cut out the attachments and mig weld them onto the new skin/ roller and use the same sides covers. pinhole leaks can be soldered.
  5. I do not think the brake drum is welded. on the hub. If the drum is removed it is possible to remove the spokes. I did that on my 28 DB Senior Had all the spokes on the floor, clean them and put them together. One at a time. There is no magic to it. It takes skill and patience. What I said in my last thread is not speculation but reality.
  6. How does a Weymann body actually works and how to repair them ? Are the bodies limited to Stutz ?
  7. What is the wheel base of a 1928 dodge brothers truck ? 1/2 ton ? Thank you.
  8. Use 4 pieces of 2x4 about a foot long and make a square on a hard surface The spokes must rest on the 2x4. leaving the hub free with the drum facing up. Use a hot flame , quickly heat the inner edge of the drum(not red) quickly put a piece of hard wood on the hub (not the drum) and give it a good whack with a heavy sledge hammer. At first it might move about 14 thou, and repeat until the drum is off. If you want to remove the metal hub from the spokes then , turn the wheel over with the outside hub facing up and gently tap each spoke downwards in a circular manner ,A LITTLE AT A TIME. Number the spokes in a clockwise manner starting from the valve stem. Other that you will have to use a 50 ton press and some jigs
  9. There are 2 things you can try. wipe with a brake fluid damp rag and then rinse with water, or use a damp rag with Voporust which is safe.
  10. You do not need to do more. You are good to go.
  11. In 1978 I bought a Delco battery for my 941 Buick from united Auto Parts . It was this narrow ,long gismo. 6 volts.
  12. Gun smoke said it all. I do not think there is a joint where the finger is pointing. The joint is inside , the drum to the flange. You are barking up the wrong tree my friend.
  13. Does it have a diff and drive shaft ? Where are you located ?
  14. The Filling Station sells 6 volts internal regulated alternators . too.
  15. You will never regret it. The alternator will also charge at lower engine speeds and if you want it to charge at still lower speeds you just have to use a smaller pulley. Before I forget I would like to tell you something. Look just below the bearing (wire side) and you will see a small slightly oval hole about 1/8 size. By pushing a stiff wire hard inside ,and at the same time grounding it to the frame you will be grounding the field and the alternator reading will shoot right up. Use a volt meter to do that check. That is the way to diagnose a sick alternator. Which I hope you will not have to do a for a long time.
  16. Newly installed tyres may be fine at certain speeds and shimmy at a different speeds . It has to be balanced at all speeds. All balancing machines are not born equal. It all depends on the types. But if it is fine at the top speed you decide to drive then why bother ? Happy go lucky driving.
  17. Spinneyhill, do not cry you are also enriching the shareholders of the synthetic oil company.
  18. My son bought a 1978 Honda 500. he wanted to change the oil so I told him why not use regular 10W 40 engine oil which he did because the Honda oil was more expensive. There was an oily mess around the engine in about 2 weeks. So he went to the Honda dealer and said to the salesman . Sell me a set of engine gasket. The salesman asked him What is the problem?. He told the salesman to come outside and take a look at the engine. Well the salesman did. What kind of engine oil are you using ? He asked . Regular engine oil, my son said. NO, NO, NO, the salesman said. You must use the oil recommended by Honda.. He did as the salesman said, and washed the engine. NO MORE OILY MESS.
  19. Thank you Keiser31, I wish I was smart as you are. Cheers.
  20. I just installed an oil canister from a 46 de Soto that use a C-3 Fram filter on my 28 D B flat 6 and I am asking the same question. What additive , if, needed for the engine oil. There was an article in a Canadian local old car magazine called Old Autos. by some body , I cannot remember now. The article was about adding zinc in engines with babbit bearings. He left his email for callers who wanted more info. I emailed him but he never replied.
  21. Why buy from evil bay when you can buy from Amazon.
  22. Well, as I said Mammy Yokum has given us the "good night Irene punch.
  23. Nice looking car. Will you will it to me ? Just kidding.
  24. The one I got about a month ago came from an address in Oklahoma (Garage) I forward it to a popular blogger in Oklahoma and he told me it sounded suspicious . When I Google the address it was a strip plaza. I have been dealing with these guys for the past 30 or more years . All Nigerian scams. The Language and sentences are poor, is the first clue . Some came from England and Spain. The story goes like this " My father died and did not leave a will but my lawyer said he could bypass that but keep it quiet. I need ex amount of dollars to process the will and when I get the money I will share It with you " Some of the letters came with a printed form to fill out including bank a/c # into which he will deposit the money. There are several variations. This one actually happened to me here in Toronto a few years ago. I advertised a Land rover for sale Price 10000 dollars. The buyer said he will send me a check. " I will send you a check for 13000 dollars. Send me a thousand cash by Union gram so I can pay the trailer guy to pick it up and you can keep the rest." Again, Nigerian scam. Here in Toronto they steal a lot of high end cars and store them in containers and ship to Africa where the authorities are notoriously corrupt. How do they manage to get bank certified cheques that looks so authentic ? This Oklahoma guy emailed me a picture of an Australian 28 Dodge Very complete and in good condition. He said " send me money so I can pay my mechanic to remove the parts " . I am telling you, there are registered bloggers on this forum also who are scammers.
