  1. Yes, the old magazines are great to read the pulse of the auto industry at that point in time. One of my favorite finds in one was that there was no truth to the rumor William Durant was going to use his holdings in Chevrolet to take over GM. We all know how that worked out! Terry
  2. Look for a place that services magnetos for antique farm tractors. They might be able to work on yours. Terry
  3. One of the other items that came in the box was a Red Cross pin with a 1919 date on it. Seems to coincide with the car years.
  4. Found these two auto pins in a box of stuff at a local estate sale. I think they are original. Material is seems to be cellulose. The Maxwell pin is the same on both sides. I guess they are both from the teens. Terry
  5. Website shows $12,600. Not sure if any buyers premium was added to that. Terry
  6. My Rally Nova did have gold rims, the snap in Chevy center caps, and Uniroyal wide tires with raised white letters. The car was painted was burnt orange with gold rally stripes too. Terry
  7. I like orphan cars and for sure that appears to be a nice one! Terry
  8. Stopping is a good thing so a complete exam of the brake system should be a priority. Changing out the fluids is also a good thing to do as well as checking for leaks. Enjoy your new toy! Terry
  9. The resistance, from an electronics perspective, is not a major player when the source voltage is very high like what you get from a modern automobile ignition system. I have never actually measured the plug resistance before installing them but it old be interesting to see what the accepted tolerance range might be for each manufacturer. Terry
  10. I would take the Nova, in fact I did in 1977. I bought a Rally Nova, 2dr with 305 and auto trans. It had HD suspension and handled quite well. It was a very good car, decent gas mileage and fun to drive. Terry
  11. Sure is nice to know those type of repair guys are still out there! I always viewed auto transmissions as mystery boxes, especially after seeing what the innards look like! Terry
  12. Not unusual for family not to have all the details exactly correct but the car in question is sure a great example of a survivor from the period. Being a PA car it's lack of rust is incredible. Hope it finds a good home! Terry
  13. I am posting from an Apple I-pad and use a free app called SimpleResize. I works well and is easy to use. Terry
  14. The museum is indeed A1 in quality, but let's all admit there's nothing like having a ride in a car you really like. I was lucky to get a ride in a friend's restored 1967 Corvette 427 425hp with side pipes. No museum car will ever compare to that experience! I hope some one can help this person's dream come true. Terry
  15. Eve though we can load large pictures, I've found my combination of computing device and my internet speed do not allow anything close to 1mb to work properly to upload a picture to this site. When I downsize them to about 1/4 mb all is well. Terry
  16. My son who was home for the weekend from college went to this event. He said it was great! Lots of interesting cars showed up despite early morning showers. He had pictures of everything from a Crosley to a Lamborghini! Lots of service dogs in attendance too! Overall a great day for him. He is a senior studying mechanical engineering and has landed a job with Tesla in CA following graduation so I see some collector cars in his future. Terry
  17. Wow, what an adventure! Not sure I would choose November for starting the trip due to cold temps and short daylight but I wish you all the best in your endeavor! Terry
  18. A great example of the original meaning of crowd funding! Terry
  19. Sure meets the criteria of "project car"! Terry
  20. Very novel use of technology! I wonder if someone will make a commercial enterprise of this method for the antique auto trade. Terry
  21. I have no idea what it is but for sure it is a really interesting photo! Can you tell us where you found it? To me it seems like it is an exploration trip of some kind. The large locomotive type light on the front of the car is a real stand out item. Terry
  22. My 1970 Yamaha 90cc enduro bike will also over voltage when the battery is disconnected. It's a 6v system too. Terry
  23. Memories of modified cars is a true statement. Most of my friends and I had modified cars. For example, my 55 Chevy was a four door sedan yet it had Corvair bucket seats up front and a three speed on the floor. The engine was a 283 out of a 64. Terry
  24. It sure does but what is the car? Ok, expanding the image shows it to be a Pontiac, but what year?
