  3. Had not realized that it had been this long since my last post. I have been so busy on the 47' that this car was driven a lot, then just set aside when I got the convertible on the road. I had a lot of pending items to do and just got started a day or so ago. the drivers door glass has been cracked since I purchased the car. So, pulled the door panel, trying to figure out the best way to get the glass out. The interior door panels are going to need replaced, so will order some panel board and figure out how to make new fabric design. had to pull the vent window glass, regulator and frame to get it out. Am Going to work on window felt linings, etc while the window is out. Monday, will get a new glass cut along with my convertible rear window glass. more later as I progress Matt
  4. The correct rear curtain has arrived and the top has been laid out flat for a little while to help any wrinkles and creases work their way out of the top. Monday, I will go get the new glass cut along with the drivers door window of my 56'. It has been cracked ever since I bought the car. more news when on assembly when I can get the dimension of the top of the tub to the wooden bow.
  5. Purchased a set of 6volt halogen bulbs off of ebay. Now have origjnals put away in nice boxes.
  6. Generally, you should remove the canister bowl by moving the metal retaining clip that holds the bowl on and fill it. Then return the bowl and install the clip again after adding fluid to the bowl.
  7. Tonight I decided that safety os much more important than originality, so I changed out the headllights to halogen. Much brighter now and feel a little safer
  8. Not 47'. Think 48',49' and not sure about after that.
  9. With all of the beautiful weather here lately, had the 47' out several times. Almost been dark when leaving the house and DARK when getting home. Still yet putting nice miles on the car and knock on wood, zero problems!
  10. I preach this constantly at our facility and clean up in the restroom when I see things amiss. The condition of a single restroom can tell you a "World" about where you are.
  11. I did my interior all by my lonesome with purchasing components from aforementioned AutomotiveInteriors.com. Many of you have seen my interior in my '47 Roadmaster and I think it is slamming nice. I have around $1,000.00 and my labor into it. Perfect? No! Nice enough to draw compliments at every show I go to? You bet! I didn't have the money to put a Lebaron and Bonney interior in and am glad I didn't! love my car as it is!
  12. Mike you done playing with that Buick truck and ready to sell it to me yet? Would have to come all the way back to Pennsylvania......
  13. Be resourcefull until you can afford to go back an do again with better stuff.
  14. I will recommend this company. I have used for carpet sets and they have seat patterns for a lot of cars. They also sell material to make door panels and pre-finished door panels. Automotive Interiors & Accessories www.automotiveinteriors.com Matt
  15. Like Keith, I was also overwhelmed with thought about how I was going to do something. Especially when it came to replacing sheet metal and engine work. You CAN do it by yourself. Borrow a mig welder or buy one from Harbor Freight on sale for less than $100.00. Go to a salvage yard and buy a fender off of an older car and PRACTICE on that until you are comfortable. Same goes for bodywork, prep, paint etc. you will be suprised what you can accomplish. I leave you with two pictures and five years inbetween. I work a real job at least 10 Hrs a day.......
  16. Hillman fasteners is where I go for everything. Just have to go to my local Ace hardware and they have from stainless, to polished ss and chrome plated also.
  17. Can you show us more than just the cowl tag? We love Buick convertibles!
  18. Just saw your thread. Realize that not everyone visits the forums every day. If you found one, good. Otherwise, I have one available if you still need. Matt
  19. Same guy as always. Using same wording, different user name and name. jt59 John Taylor USA
