  1. Hey Gary! How about an update? Got her on the road yet? Looking forward to finding out whats happening on your project! Jim
  2. Gary is correct on that. 2DR HT is body specific. Sedans (2DR and 4DR) and 4DR HT are interchangeable between Buicks and Olds. If you need clear ones, I can help as well.
  3. Unfortunately, the 57 2dr sedan is totally different in the door glass area than a hardtop.
  4. Joe, looks fabulous! Can't wait to see it in person! WOW!!!!
  5. I'm looking for a luggage / roof rack from a 1957-58 Buick Estate / Caballero or a 1957-58 Olds Fiesta Station wagon for my 1957 Estate Wagon project. Needs to be the factory approved version (6 standards, perimeter tubing). Looks like the picture below. Any condition is ok, as long as it is complete. PM me if you have something.
  6. Hi Roger, Did you post this in the Buick Forum in Parts for Sale? You might have better luck with it. I would be interested, but I have 4 of them already! Did you have a 1957 Buick or still have it? If so, I would like to see pictures of it, for sure! Good luck! Jim
  7. Hey Doug, Just like Beemon said..to get rid of the squeek, give the linkage a good spraying with WD-40. Mine chirped like a bird at certain speeds, and I did that and .....(silence)......when I drive Bessie now. The drive in looks awesome! How is the food and service? Hope as good as the place looks! Enjoy the weekend my friend! Jim
  8. Is this a Caballero or an Riviera Estate Wagon? Looks like an Model 49D Estate Wagon. Looking good, that's for sure! Need more pictures. You can tell what type by the data plate on the firewall.
  9. The data tags hardly had any codes on them. The most complete ones that I have seen are on my wagons, which were not put on by Buick or Fisher Body, but by Bentley-Mitchell, the Inonia manufacturer that built the wagons from half finished a 4dr hardtops shipped from Buick. The best you are going to find is on a build sheet, if your car is lucky enough to have one in it (under the rear seat or somewhere hidden).
  10. Lance, I bought a radiator for my 57 that did not have a heater hose connection at the bottom, just a factory installed plug. I'm guessing, like Pete, that in warm areas and if they wanted to be the price leader, they would have certain options available for heat / defrost. I have yet to see a 57 without the heat and defrost controls, though...as I have with the radio delete and clock delete plates.
  11. Looking for a roof rack for a 1957 Estate / Caballero wagon. Any condition. PM me if you have. Also any 57 wagon parts. Thanks.
  12. Not that I'm aware of. You can have your radiator re-cored by a radiator shop, which is as close to buying brand new as you can get.
  13. Doug, It is always a pleasure to see you and talk Buick smack! Thanks for coming over and spending the morning with us. It was really great to have all of us together for a while just to talk cars and general stuff. Hoping your tranny is a simple and easy rebuild for Jim. It was really neat to see Joe's 58 Caballero in progress. It is going to be a real show stopper, for sure! Looking forward to the next time we meet, which hopefully will be soon! Glad you had a safe trip back and no issues with the customs people.
  14. I'm definitely not a 51 Buick expert, but it looks to me like it might be overspray of some sort on the parts. Possibly also waxed into the black paint. The only other idea would be like a trunk spatter paint, that is balck and white, but usually larger spots with the white paint portion.
  15. Hey Mike...you out there? Hows the project coming along?
  16. for 1957, Buick changed to rubber hose from metal. what you had on there with the rubber hose is correct. just replace it with the same.
  17. Pete, the only concern with using the 58 bows from the Limited or Roadmaster is that they are 70 Series vehicles and the roof width will be larger than the 40 series that you are working on. You might be able to coble them to fit, but not sure, because of the width issue. Just my 2 cents worth.
  18. 3/8" gas line. You can buy it at any auto parts store by the foot. Make sure it is fuel line. Do you have a Shop Manual for your vehicle? Might be a good thing to have, if you don't. Lots of good information in there to help you with your project.
  19. I see a small canned ham travel trailer in your future there, Doug!! It would look pretty sweet behind that Buick! Just sayin....
