  1. Looks like it is time to learn some new skills and get some new tools. Your car looks to be a 1928 Model 72 that was painted Cigarette with Black fenders. If you enjoy working with your hands and learning new skills go for it. If you want a finished old car it will cheaper to buy one. You didn't say where you are but there is folks that can give you pointers along the way. Here is roadster painted in the same colors.
  2. That is about it, a sliding blade hooked to a block of rubber.
  3. It is used to dampen the torque movement of the engine as far as I know. They are non adjustable and not red head specific.
  4. Some of those additives or pellets would form a burnt brown waxy film on the cylinder walls, dipsticks, valve stems etc. Remember the pellets that came with a cardboard tube to do a ring job ?
  5. Modern grease zerk , I would guess farm tractor / equipment.
  6. 8 MM movie camera, is he going to film their drive ? Knoxville Amateur Cinema Club's most inexperienced member lasted less than a day.
  7. I had a 1954 Chrysler New Yorker that was one of the best road cars for long distance driving. As my daily driver on the highway it would get 22-24 MPG with the 331 hemi with a 2 throat carburetor.
  8. The old acetylene bottles had horse hair instead of the cardboard that is inside of the modern tanks. Carbon builds up and needs to be cleaned out, the cardboard is a doable mess.
  9. Those were mandated by local laws for on street parking, at least here in the states.
  10. The center emblem is nickel plated (brass?) and the rear part is plated cast iron, I don't think someone would take the effort to make up this piece. Everything looks like a factory manufactured part. The Wheaties emblems were somewhat stamped sheet metal with the detail printed on.
  11. I looked on line and saw some photos of 1926s and 27s with just a round medallion but none with the scalloped edges. All of the Imperials I found had a spearhead type. I found non for the rear bumpers.
  12. Many use "restore" in place of restored and restoration.
  13. Is this a 1929 Model 65 front bumper center medallion ?
  14. Between single venturi and one barrel they were called single throat, double throat, etc. (worthless tidbit)
  15. That could be "Royal Chariot Red" but it is almost impossible to say what was used on the car and how it shows up on the screen or in a photo.
  16. It look like a truck fender designed for a right side rack
  17. I worked in a marina and there was a truck like the 1947? tractor on the far left. The truck was fitted with a 18' boom and a massive winch that was run off a PTO. The tires would start to sing at 40 MPH on concrete. Uncomfortable at any speed.
  18. I had a Simpson meter like that when I first started messing around with old radios.
  19. It is from a wood framed door, mid 20s to early 30s, mid priced car most likely.
  20. The shifter was on the column and towards the end it got fussy and sometimes would jam up. I had the same problem with a 1962 Dodge PU.
  21. I had a gold 70 Valiant slant 6 with the manual 3 speed, the Dodge was a better looking car. These were great cars for every day driving and easy to work on.
