    New car thread

I leave my old shoes hanging outside for six months and the linings are laying on the ground. Moisture can de-laminate old shoe linings
  2. My god here we go again!!!! Use a big hammer, be a big man and swing hard!
  3. A 1942 DeSoto business coupe I used to work on here in seattle was sold to Europe 10 years ago too. I suppose mine will end up there too.
  4. Nothing wrong with the quiet factory oil bath air cleaner.
  5. Swing that hammer like framer too! No pansy men needed here!
  6. The two tail lights are for a 41 chrysler.
  7. 20 years later and a piece at a time off Ebay, Frank $$$$ Mitchell, Len Dawson ect. I finally have all NOS non Korean chrome for my 1952 New Yorker. 1950-52 chryslers are some of the toughest cars to find die cast chrome parts for. No after market chrome is available for your C51 Windsor. It will take time to find new if thats what your looking for. Old used pitted chrome is easily available watching Ebay sellers. They usually ask too much IMO. Good luck!
  8. Do it the right way. Don't damage the hub and drum. Don't cut the rivits.
  9. And you must use 3/8" air hose too for enough air flow to the gun. If you lived close by I'd come over and get them off. In the last month I removed rears from a 1935 CW Imperial Airflow, a 1956 Imperial, a 60 Dodge and a 1948 Chrysler NY business coupe. The drums cannot sit/soak as we need to finish the brake jobs quickly and efficiently to get them done! On another note...You might want to remove the axles to check for inner seal leaks too. Just a thought. Good luck, You will get those drums them off..
  10. Professional quality pullers will not break. Just today's cheap import pullers will. I will rent out my 1" impact if this very unique case requires it.
  11. You need 175lbs of air pressure and a good 1/2" impact gun-say a quality Snap-on 1/2" . 600lbs on up. Then the drum will pop right off. For years I just banged them off with the dogbone and 2-1/2 lb hammer. Now days and after removing hundreds of these old Mopar rear drums I use just the impact gun as my swing and body is not what it used to be. Never had one I had to heat or god forbid.... cut the rivits off!
  12. They seem to sell for good money these days.
  13. I wouldn't be suprised if that was the Seattle car I used to see in Seattle back in the late 70's. All 1951 and 52 NewYorkers and Imperial four doors used the same wheel base-131" including the rare C52 wagons. The added inches from the firewall forward. I've had a couple of C52/C54 NY'ers and Imperials.
  14. Lets start talking about our older homes and asbestos. Lets go jogging and breathe in real deep and hard hard along the roads for an hour. Umm good! Lets not. Lets learn how to have safe stopping brakes on old antique cars.
  15. There used to be two C39K Saratogas here in the Seattle area. One rotted away and the other rusty one went to Europe-I think Norway about 15 years ago. I have a 1946 NewYorker 3 pass coupe myself.
  16. A little late reading this... Ha Ha. With all my MoPar lockheed hobby cars I will arc shoes all day long with my ammco machine to make me and my friends brakes safe! I would just hate to rear end a state ecology person because of fading brakes!!! I like a rock hard and high brake pedal after a brake job. Some times safe sense is better than dusty rules.
  17. You need to read the factory shop manual. The rods also lube the cam via a small drilled hole above the rod cap mating surfaces or a slit at the mating surfaces. Don't ruin your new engine use the books!!!!
  18. I will measure these trim rings and post the measurements of these 15"X6" chrysler trim rings. Bob
