  1. You have a factory power seat in a 1951 Windsor? I thought only the Crown Imperials had the power seats! A thick green wire feeds the seat back cigarette lighter though if there is a seat back lighter ash tray combo. Bob
  2. I too would like to see/find a real all steel 1950 Chrysler wagon. Think they only supposedly made 100 of them. I also have a C48 Royal Wagon. Bob
  3. Those are the wrong U-joints! The caps that bolt to the yokes have wings with pre drilled holes drilled so the caps bolt directly to the trans/rear end yokes as the picture shows. C38 are smaller than the 8cyl C39 chryslers but look the same. Bob
  4. I too have a late 1950 Imperial "8" with hydraulic lifters. Solid lifters in the Chrysler eights are also very quiet when properly adjusted. Have a couple of those solid tappet 8cyl. chrysler cars too. Bob
  5. Leather and vinyl both-depended on cheap model or high end Chrysler . Tolex on the wagons. Your car most likely leather. Never seen any pre-made covers. You just need a good upholstry person and a good original set of foam backing pads!
  6. I think possibly because you changed the shoes it caused a change in how far the push rods in both the booster and master cylinder travel-possibly causing the rubber cups to scrape into a dirty/pitted area of the cylinder bore and possibly damage the piston cup= internal leakage. Also by bleeding this Vacu-Ease unit, if it did have scale or sludge in it possibly did cause a port to become partially blocked. Is yours the internal or external type "Vacu-Ease unit? I have sevearl cars that use this unit. If one of the little vacumn valves which is rubber splits/ cracks the engine can suck all the brake fluid out in a few seconds and you lose your brakes! Ask me how I know! Had it happen in my 50 Royal wagon and a Dodge 3 tonner. Smokes out a 1/2 block of road!
  7. I have never seen a 1946-8 Chrysler Of any series with a 3 speed in it. I have several 1946-52 chryslers. Most are C39 cars. I started my interest in 1975 in the 46-8 Chryslers. 3 speed cars are quite rare I think! I know of a 1947 Royal 3 pass cpe that has the M-5 in it!8 cyl. cars use the 3.36 ratio rear end. A bit bigger gear case than the 6 cyl 3.54. For the C38 cars a 3.54 is a good ratio. "Click-O-Matic" is the term for a low mileage great shifting M5/6 transmission "Klunk-O-Matic" describes a well used M5/6 transmission "Bang-O-Matic" is for the name describing a M5/6 that has big problems with the input shaft/blocker ring assemblies! Bob
  8. Model M-5 transmissions were used from very late 1942 to 1948. 1949 started with the M-6 model transmission. Both Chrysler and DeSoto. A slightly different upgraded transmission. Simplimatic was a DeSoto name for late 1941 to 1948 or abouts. Chrysler for 1946 to 1948 called the transmission it offered"Hydraulicly Operated". Chrysler in 1949 started the new name "Prestomatic". Bob
  9. Don't be usin that Mobile home kitchen wiring! Do it right-Get 1 guage battery cables with the correct ends already on them from a Napa or any GOOD parts store with some good counterman help. 6 Volt systems require bigger wire for more amperage flow needed by 6 volt systems. Do the radio and BIG speakers later after the car is up and running! Bob
