  1. Hi Larry. Please say hi to Roberta V. for me. Have a great time tomorrow. Wish I could have made it out there.
  2. My 2016 Mercedes AMG GTS Edition1. I have had it up to XXXMPH and then thought twice and decided I shouldn't try to go for the top speed of 195MPH is my overall fastest. My 1973 Buick Gran Sport "Factory Stock" drag racers ET and MPH are in my signature. A few "Showroom Stock" SCCA/IMSA racers were pretty quick also back in the day. Haven't gone too high in the triple digits with my daily commuter/driver 2020 Charger Daytona 😇
  3. Just wanted to give a big "Thanks" in public to Sue and Laura for making arrangements for us to Visit the beautiful new AACA Headquarters building. We were in lancaster Pa. doing our own Covered Bridge tour Tuesday through today. Decided yesterday last minute to go to Hershey before we headed home to See the new AACA headquarters building. We called yesterday afternoon and asked if we could come and see the building thinking it might be too busy to wait for October. We were happily accommodated and off we went today. Well worth the drive from Lancaster. The building and Library are beautiful and we are super happy we went. Thanks again Sue and Laura. Everyone was very kind even amid the loads of stuff still needing to be unpacked. We really enjoyed the visit and were happy that we got to visit. Then went to show the wife the AACA Museum and the story about it. The ride home was good and this was a fantastic way to end our tour of the area. We saw lots of stuff in Lancaster that we saw during the 2017 Gettysburg Founders tour and added over 20 new covered bridges to our list. A good small vacation to one of my favorite places.
  4. I have been a Madison Avenue Sports Car Driving and Chowder Society "Not Only Vice President" for over 40 years and gone to virtually every monthly meeting since at Sardi's in NYC for two or three years before that. That is over 43 years of once a month meetings which is over 516 meetings with a guest automotive related speaker at each one. (This includes the last year and a half of the pandemic and Monthly sometimes twice monthly Zoom meetings) Of course there have been repeat speakers here and there. Have met and become friends with a large majority of the speakers and try to keep in touch with many that are still with us. I also was on the Board of Directors for the New York Region SCCA and racer from 1982 to 2003 meeting many more people that way. I have met so many people in this hobby and business that I feel that I am indeed blessed. Automotive executives, Authors, racers, Historians, Public Relations and Marketing, etc. Meeting people to name a few like Maurice and Rene Dreyfuss, Austie Clark, John Weitz, Stirling Moss, Paul Newman, my good best friend Judy Stropus, Oscar Kovaleski, Leon Mandel, Denise McCluggage, Sam Posey, MaryAnn Keller, Bob Grossman, Brock Yates, Roger Penske, Bobby Unser, my good friend Marty Schorr, etc. I really can't believe how fortunate I have been and I am still only 63 years young. 😉 This without a doubt is the best hobby in the world and am fortunate indeed. I won't continue with names because it just makes no sense and I haven't the time/memory or think it appropriate to take up the space to try to mention them all. I will say thank you to everyone I have met over the years including on this forum to include a young man (Boy) from Brooklyn NY into this worldwide experience at the age of 22 years old. It took me a long time to feel comfortable in such esteemed company. I still have to pinch myself sometimes that I was accepted by Chowder as an amateur racer and voted onto the Board of the NYRSCCA and that I had the opportunity to meet and contribute in a small way to the automotive and racing experience in a small way. I love this automotive world with all my heart since I was 5 years old. Sorry for the long post. Hopefully there is much more to come in the future. This photo is me with friends at the 2020 Amelia Island Concours, Racer/ F1 ESPN Analyst David Hobbs, Famous timer and scorer and this years inductee to the MotorSports Hall of fame Judy Stropus, Me and collector/Vintage car dealer Orrie Simko (Wearing shorts)
  5. Booked our rooms also. Looking forward to being at Hershey this year!!
  6. I think that color is GM code 60. Called Harvest Gold by Buick. I forget the name the other divisions that used it called it. I have two 1973 Gran Sport Stage1's that color. Had 3 at one time though the 3rd was repainted black when I got it.
  7. A lot of this collection was purchased from Briggs Cunningham's collection. It was his wish for it to go to the Collier family museum as he was good friends with Miles Colliers Father and Uncle when they started Road Racing together pre war and continued with Brigg's Watkins Glen and Le Mans efforts etc. He knew the Colliers had the funding to keep most of the collection intact as this was also one of his wishes. In one picture above is Le Monstre the Cadillac whose body was modified for aerodynamic purposes to run LeMans, the underpinning to the car is all stock Cadillac. The other car a totally stock Caddy finished ahaead of Le Monster. Great History in this museum and Mr Collier is a wonderful person and caretaker of this wonderful collection and the many cars he added to it. .
  8. Hard to believe I have been a member and on this board since Dec 2008. (Yes, a relative newbie to this part of the automotive world) I wouldn't know what I would have done or accomplished with my cars in the AACA without this invaluable forum and the advice, info and friends met through this wonderful group of people. Thank you Peter for all you do to keep this going and make it the well behaved and orderly forum that it is. I know this as an important tool and daily place to go for many many members including me. Thanks again. A toast to many many more years to follow.
  9. Thanks everyone for the great photos. Looks like a great time for all and some beautiful places to visit. Sorry we missed this one. Maybe next year.
  10. Leave the car alone. Take it from a person who has modified Buicks currently (I race it) and has had modified cars since being a teen. For street driving leave your all original car original. Are you street racing anyone? Get a faster car. Are you just going to enjoy the car on cruises and at shows then leave it alone. You will regret messing with it. Put on a set of Buick Rally wheels if you want as said in the other posts and give it a good tune. Just my opinion. Take it as you will.
  11. Thank you. This has been an elightening and fun thread to follow. Older cars like this are not my forte, but I love them as I love all cars. My last time with old cars like these were with Austie Clark in the 1980's Glad to see you out and about and really enjoying the car as it was meant to be driven. I eagerly await more posts and am learning something new everyday. Again, Thank you!
  12. Have been there multiple times. Even took my grandson once when we took him to Philadelphia. Told my wife we could not miss the experience of him being there. Have done a few of the drive days with the Madison Ave Chowder Society also. Great times and Dr Simeone is a wonderful friendly person and extremely Knowledgeable to say the least. If ever in the Philadelphia area and you are into ultra rare beautifully preserved original race cars this Museum is well worth the time to visit.
  13. What a great Museum and a working one at that. Was lucky enough to do a AACA Gettysburg Region National Founders Tour a few years ago that included Rough and Tumble. LOVED IT! I look forward to going back one day.
  14. The knowledge and new friends, the opportunity to keep learning about all things automotive is invaluable. I thank all that participate. This is a fountain of knowledge and experience better than any automotive library and is a great outlet and another facet of being a true car guy. Thanks again to everyone that participates on the forums. A toast to you all. Cheers and good health, wonderful cars, and many more car adventures to come.
