John_S_in_Penna
I saw that car for sale while browsing the internet and admired it. Thank you for posting it here, Steve. I believe its factory color is called "taupe," which is a seldom seen color on Lincolns of this period.

TAKerry
Dont see a lot of the town coupes. I like the first line 'this is a real town coupe', like people are faking them!!
John_S_in_Penna
The Lincoln has also been listed on Ebay, where his fixed price did not succeed. The seller is really trying to cover all bases: https://www.ebay.com/itm/165656939279?hash=item2691ec4b0f:g:-z4AAOSw8i9jEmh1&vxp=mtr
Gearheadengineer
It looks like a really nice example. Low mileage, shiny paint, etc. I don’t think the demand is super high for these, so that’s probably what is holding it back. It needs to be priced to reflect demand. Would be a nice cruiser. You’ll want a large garage!
John_S_in_Penna
Lincolns of 1977-1979 are popular among Lincoln enthusiasts, and the very similar 1975-1976 versions have a lesser following. However, there are so many of these available that a buyer can afford to be choosy, selecting a color he likes and finding one with very low mileage. Asking prices are often away out of line, but actual prices are affordable. For this taupe Lincoln, $10,000 would be good, $12,000 would be pretty good. I have an identically styled 1975: Edited September 15, 2022 by John_S_in_Penna (see edit history) 5
B Jake Moran
I knew you’d beat me to comment on this one John. I love it. In fact I would prefer Lincoln Town Coupes and Cadillac CdVs over Eldorados and Marks. Yes they are 3 box styled but detailed so well.

Gearheadengineer
I was surprised to learn just how big these are. At least according to an admittedly quick internet search, this thing is 17” longer than my ‘64 Continental. And that is NOT a small car. I would have to move some stuff in my garage to fit it. I think you could do way worse than to pick this up for the suggested $12k or so. I hope someone has a lot of fun with it.
bryankazmer
These last large Lincolns and Caddy's are a notch bigger than the 60's and early 70's versions. How much you like them has a lot to do with how you expect them to drive - the early smog controls mean that they use a big engine to turn a lot of gas into a very modest amount of power.
John_S_in_Penna
The dealer has marked the Lincoln down to $14,950: https://www.carsforsale.com/vehicle/details/87865482

John_S_in_Penna
A few years ago, there was one for sale on the internet in the exact same taupe color. (See picture below, which I saved.) That one had a matching velour cloth interior instead of leather. I really prefer velour over leather, because it is soft, and most importantly, doesn't show the telltale creases with use that leather does. Skylark4367
I remember a commercial from that era where a jeweler cut a diamond while riding in a Lincoln. I don't remember the model, but they were trying to sell the smooth ride.

John_S_in_Penna
More time has gone by, and the dealer still has it. Its asking price is still $14,950. In 10 months, the dealer has lowered his price only $900--and so far, the demand is still zero: https://www.carsforsale.com/vehicle/details/87865482

B Jake Moran
Yeah John I really love this color. This one has been multi marketed too, not the usual facebook marketplace "drop off" where facebook buries an older ad from possible viewing.
DrumBob
This is one of my favorite colors. They used to call it Burgundy Mist. Cadillac had it, and I think they used it on Oldsmobiles too. Lincolns too, obviously. I played a 50th birthday party gig one summer years ago. The host's daughter told us to put our cases in the garage. In that garage was a 60's Cadillac in Burgundy Mist. I almost fell over admiring it. It wasn't for sale. The Fender guitar company used Burgundy Mist for only a few years as a custom order color. It's very rare today. One of my best friends has a 1965 Fender Precision bass in Burgundy Mist. This is another color I'd bring back for cars today. Rivguy
The "hot's daughter" , "hot daughter" never mind me, it's a cheap attempt at humor. I know that you meant "host's daughter". I miss more than I hit. Forgive me if I offended you. Just being dumb.
