Brooklyn Beer
Cannot say I have ever seen one of these before. This has to be in the running for one of the most overly excessive cars ever built. Need 500 pounds of chrome on the front to offset the tail fins ? Why not. The treatment above the headlights to me is just so over the top it was as if they were trying to find spots to add more garishness. When you pulled in to the office no need to have anyone announce you arrived. The car screamed it. And i love every inch of it. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1959-chrysler-imperial-silvercrest-landau-coupe/ 6

John_S_in_Penna
The 1957-59 Imperials styled by Virgil Exner (and the 1960-62 examples too) have a strong following among Chrysler enthusiasts. If they are realistically priced, they will sell readily. For these cars, one sees 4-door hardtops much more often than 2-door hardtops. This situation is just the opposite of the case of many other cars. Perhaps they were originally sold to an older clientele who used them sparingly and carefully, so that many 4-door hardtops were preserved. John_S_in_Penna
The bids are currently up to $10,000 with 6 days to go. My educated guess is $35,000. Edited August 13, 2022 by John_S_in_Penna (see edit history)
Xander Wildeisen
Expensive cars to restore. Money ahead buying one finished.
58L-Y8
The flamboyant styling of the late 1950's-early 1960's, including these Imperials, was best characterized by one automotive writer as: "The pleasant insanity of innocent excess." 2

48Super
I think $35,000 would probably just about cover the cost of the paint and interior work on that car. Someone invested a lot of cash to achieve such a nice restoration.
John_S_in_Penna
We all know that restoration cost doesn't determine the value of a car.
Marty Roth
The 1958 grille was so much more delicate, restrained, and (IMO) just so much better looking on the Imperials of that 1957-1959 vintage body style.
41Fleetwood
If this thing stops anywhere under 50 k I am will be surprised, I'm a Cadillac guy but this is one over the top gorgeous car.
John_S_in_Penna
It has been bid to $20,000 with 4 days left. Such Imperials don't normally bring close to $50,000.
m-mman
The “landau” over the back of the roof shouldn’t be. (Is it vinyl or bed liner?) only the Ghia limo had a (leather) cover that concealed the changes for the small limousine window. “the A/C has been serviced by current owner” but doesn’t blow cold….?? Beautiful aesthetics but it might be lacking in the functionality department.
41Fleetwood
Reserve not met at $61,000 just a little north of 35 K
John_S_in_Penna
"A fool and his money are soon parted." That proverb has been around for perhaps 200 years. Evidently it's just as true in 2022.

TexRiv_63
Wow. That's at least a $50,000 chrome bill, almost more than a 58 Buick!
