kingrudy
Absolutely a beautiful car no doubt about that, but can you restore a car beyond it's value? 40K for a 55 Ford may be tough ask.
John_S_in_Penna
This car looks beautiful. The conservative all-white scheme, with the abundance of bright trim, compliment each other well. The car is neither too bland nor too gaudy. I don't know what it's really worth, but the new owner will be saving himself all the time and money of restoration. Good find, Fin Seeker!
f.f.jones
Probably wouldn't fit my lifestyle, even if I could afford it...

If you bought one to restore you would spend far more than 40K to restore it.

I'm so used to seeing these in dramatic two tone schemes that I never even pondered if they came in single colors. I actually think I prefer this over the two tone (which I generally like a lot.) If for no other reason than it would be different than most other stock '55 Crown Vic's. Beautiful! 3
John_S_in_Penna
Did any of the 2-toned 1955-56 Crown Victorias NOT have white as one of their colors? A more subtle 2-tone scheme, such as light blue and medium blue, might look good if it was available from the factory. And if you can find any pictures to illustrate, that would be especially interesting. JamesR
This '55 supposedly has a factory code paint scheme...Goldenglow Yellow and Raven Black, high contrast and the opposite of subtle. I've also found a '56 with the same colors , but reversed (black on the bottom.) I didn't find it in a brochure, though, so I can't say for sure that it's a factory scheme, but I think the ad for the '56 said it had the code for those colors. "Optional" it said. 1955 Ford Crown Victoria | Premier Auction 1
suchan
Attached file lists '55 Fairlane line color combos, and indicates all Fairlane cars shared them. I guess that would include the Crown Vics. Two-tones were split at the sweepspear, or could be special ordered split at the roof. I inherited a '55 Victoria(not a Crown) from an uncle in white over red, had never seen an all-white Victoria so this one's little jarring, but what a nice car! If I was in the market, I'd be giving it a hard look if asking was around $30K. 1

I have always wanted a 55-56 CV but they have always cost more than I wanted to spend. This is a REALLY nice one.

Thanks for the documentation, Suchan. According to that catalogue--unless changes were made later in the year or for spring colors--the only non-white 2-tones were yellow/black or neptune green/pinetree green. If you like this white example, talk to the seller now. Maybe he's flexible. But at least you'll have his contact information, so you can save it and keep in touch. Maybe the car will be available 3 months, 6 months, 9 months from now at a price you like better!
1957Birdman
It is good to see one of these without the ubiquitous continental kit that so many of them seem to have added on. Even though the kits were a factory option you certainly didn't see many in the day sporting them. Lew Bachman 1957 Thunderbird

John_S_in_Penna
From $40,000 to $39,000: A very slight reduction, but at least the seller is going in the right direction!
John S.
This is a very nicely done car., and I believe the price is fair. A 1955 Chevrolet in equal condition would sell at a much higher price. You couldn't restore this Ford for what the owner is asking. Paint and chrome alone would get you to $30,000.00 and change, easily. John

I have never had a car that wasn't selling , sell, once I increased the price. Some say it works, but if you don't have interest at a lower price it will rarely develop at a higher price. Of course unless you did it to PO that one guy that has been bugging you. Then it's more of a personal thing and not a sales ploy.
TexRiv_63
Sounds like they are not serious about wanting to sell.
Fossil
Could be such a thing that he's trying to shake up potential buyers and get one to offer him his original price before he raises the price again.
