John_S_in_Penna
The first two pictures are of the same car. In the first picture, what appears to be an emblem on the radiator shell is, I believe, just a reflection of the hood ornament: The 2nd picture shows a plain radiator shell. The license plate appears to read "MD 1918," indicating Maryland. I doubt that a McLaughlin-Buick (a Canadian made Buick) would have found its way there under typical circumstances. We have lots of experts on our forum whose perspicacity always amazes me. You're bound to receive more ideas.

Mark Wetherbee
I believe that first car is a 1916 or so Allen, at least the emblem looks like an A on a diamond which is what they had. deaddds
That 3rd photo of the speedster or race car is badass. It looks HUGE. Funny how he's still in a suit with a car with no fenders.
1912Staver
I also don't think the first is a McLaughlin. Similar but several differences. Rad shell looks wrong as does headlight brackets, and windshield posts. Allen seems closer. Greg .
Bob McAnlis
I believe the third photo of the speedster is a Chalmers. 1911/12.
John_S_in_Penna
So far, I think our resident experts are being stumped by the first car (in the first and second pictures). The odds of someone owning an Allen car are minuscule, since their annual production of 2000 paled in comparison with that of more significant makes. And the 2nd picture shows no emblem on the radiator shell, so it's not an "Allen" emblem. Does someone have Allen literature to show what their car really looks like? Or better yet, some more ideas? capngrog
I think the car shown in the first and second photos are the same. The area of the radiator shell that shows an emblem in the first photo is in an area of high glare in the second photo, and the emblem may be hidden by the glare. What I find intriguing about the car is what appears to be "two ply" fenders, with an inner and an outer. While I'm no expert, I've never seen that sort of fender configuration before ... possibly after market? The diamond-shaped rear "window" may also be indicative of an Allen, per Mark Wetherbee's above post. The rounded top of the radiator shell is also unusual for cars of the era, except for the Allen and a very few others. Here are some photos of linked here: http://www.fostoria.org/index.php/community-links/2012-05-14-14-45-59 Cheers, Grog
28 Chrysler
The radiator emblem and the front fenders do look like an Allen. The wheels also seem to match.
Trailer for Sale
Wow...thanks for all the help in helping to identify these cars....my grandfather supposedly raced cars in Daytona Beach in the early 1900's, so.maybe that was his speedster..he was born in 1887 in Philadelphia.
