dibarlaw
I purchased a parts lot that were removed from a 1925 Standard coupe destined to be street-rodded. The entire engine driveline plus the seats and all. Along with this came a "mystery box" mostly full of 1925 Master Parts. I sprung for this because there were the 22" wheels which sometime in the past mine were changed out to 21". The owner started to restore the car but changed his mind. He also bought 5 new 600X22 tires tubes and flaps. Everything had to come as a package deal. Unfortunately it was located in Bend Oregon. Enter Mark Shaw from Vancouver WA. Mark offered to bring all back to his Buick Barn and sort thru for me. He and "Oregon Desert" spent a day of unpacking, sorting and taking photos. Mark has already sent some of the parts I did not need onto other worthy Buick Brothers. Several were in need of some things in Cal. and Texas. The most challenging process for him was removing the wheels from the rear axle. Then to save space the 75+ rear old FISK tires were removed from the rims. I had to send him my wheel puller and it was still a trial . Much work later he has the axle knocked down and all packed in a 4" square crate. Then filling the remaining space with all the smaller parts that I wanted. Mark still has the engine/transmission, interior seats, springs, front axle and associated hangers there. Trying to get a good estimate as to shipping across country I needed a final crate size. He suggested that he also strap the 5 new tires to the top of the box. Final size 4'X4'X4'. I call him the CUBEMASTER! Now I just have to find a freight carrier to get it from the Left coast to the Right coast. My gratitude to Buick Brother Shaw!
Terry Wiegand
Larry, That engine doesn't look too bad at all. It looks like you came out pretty good on this deal. Terry Wiegand South Hutchinson, Kansas

Brian_Heil
Another great example of Buick Brothers in action. I had a similar find for a 1923 drivetrain and parts a few years back. By the time I got to it the engine had been sold but I got the rest as they say and many of the parts not needed by me found new homes too.
Brian_Heil
And ... I once ‘owned’ an engine I actually never saw, that Mark Shaw found and he tore it down for me and shipped me the needed parts and parted the rest. Well done (again) Brother Shaw ! 21raceabout
One option would be to look into Fastenal as a cheaper alternative for shipping rather than say UPS. Fastenal uses their empty trucks returning from making deliveries to their store network to daisy chain shipments for hire. Container has to be firmly secured to a pallet. Weight limit is something like 1500lbs. Pickup and delivery is at your local store on each end. I used them to ship my engine to Harkin-Arcola in Minnesota from Maine and back. Good luck and stay healthy.

MrEarl
Y'all may want to give YRC a try. They've been low price and no problems for me twice when shipping crates to the west coast from GA. Door to door. You may can get a better price if you register, I did. Warning, no body is cheap. https://my.yrc.com/dynamic/national/servlet?CONTROLLER=com.rdwy.ec.rextransactionalquote.http.controller.TransactionalQuoteEntryController&DESTINATION=/rextransactionalquote/rqTransactionalQuoteEntry.jsp&ERRORDESTINATION=/rextransactionalquote/rqTransactionalQuoteEntry.jsp

Hubert_25-25
Larry, These are a couple of companies that I have considered using for shipping. I know you have tried several of these already. Fastenal Fed Ex Smart Post (not a regular fed ex shipment but a slower method) busfreighter.com (probably too big for this company) U ship U haul ships their 4 x 4 x 6' boxes, but I don't know if they will take your box. midman
Larry, If you haven’t settled on anything yet let me know and I’ll get you a price shipped commercial to my work in Carlisle where you can pick it up. We get good rates. I’ll need a weight estimate and where Mark will be shipping it from. Chuck

Hubert_25-25
I too want to thank Mark Shaw for all the pick up, photos, organizing, packaging and delivery. I received my box today, and it was a miniature of Larry's big box. Just crammed full of Buick fun. Mark went above and beyond to help his Buick buddies out and I sincerely appreciate all the extra effort. Thanks Mark. Hugh 2
