I think this '35 Hispano Suiza J12, Owned by W. Boone and seen in this super 8 film still at the 1966 O'Hare Stadium CCCA concours is the same as the "Babette" car.  Our friend Jim was quite a wheeler-dealer, so it's pretty likely that from the 50's to the 60's that car found a new home.  And possibly the same venue, Ohare was open from 56 to '68,  with that pony wall, fence & grandstands in the background.

On Jim's black car the belt line dives down on the upper portion of the rear fender, and on the red car the belt line seems to drop down in front of the rear fender. What are the odds of two Hisso's with similar body styles being in the Chicago area around the same time?

Jim used to talk about shows at the old O'Hare stadium and how everyone drove their classics to them.

Well you're right - 2 different cars - but both were at O'Hare Stadium, maybe separated by some time.  Nelson Thorpe, who is the knower of all things Hispano, sent me this info, with more Babette!   Nelson says " The car is 14019, now owned by Sir Michael Kadoorie ".  It was shown at Pebble in 2013.

Some photos posted on a facebook page of travel in the European Alps in the 1920s and 1930s. There is a disc-wheeled roadster in there which looks American, but I can't pick the make. Maybe Rickenbacker?? Or a Ruxton??? Note also the 1936 Dodge with the European cabriolet body.

The owners of this one, restored in the early '90s, live only a few minutes from me and are Essex nuts. They also have the 1920 Pikes Peak Special

Came across this and thought it might be of interest in case others haven't seen it yet.

Here are 2 more pictures to add to this car’s provenance. Jim just got done installing the exhaust manifolds that he had porcelainized in blue, to contrast against the engine. We should all send thanks to Al Gore for inventing the internet so we can share these pictures from across the world!

That's a pretty spectacular car to be casually driving around Chicago in the 1950's, note the 1954 Cadillac in the background.

yes.  It seems our friend Jim was living large in the 50s and 60s.   Considering his next car was a 540K Special Roadster.

Model T Tudor and Fordor in front of a fresh apartment block in Kallio, then 1927 the working class district in Helsinki. The Tudor seems a bit newer, equipped with bumbers. Is there a Roman number II on it's door, indicating it was a Taxi-cab? Ford Model T would have more likely belonged to the cheaper class III. Maybe the older Fordor at least was owned by the building contractor. Practical with a closed car for visiting building sites even in the winter as in the photo.

"On July 31, 1913, members of the Senate Committee on Woman Suffrage greeted a throng of activists in Hyattsville, Maryland. Many of the assembled suffragists had driven thousands of miles to hand-deliver their petitions to their representatives in Congress. When the speeches concluded, suffragists and senators piled into awaiting automobiles and drove the six miles to Washington, D.C., in what journalists called the “Great Auto Parade.”
Wes Ponder
W. R. Ross Collection"

Two cars in the front with distinctive radiators. Certainly not Packards. I think they may be two different makes.  Similarities to Garford, Elmore, or??

May be an image of 2 people and text

Gee, what a swell car...when these came out in 1936, my Uncle Harold Branine, an attorney, and A.D. Rayl, the Hutchinson, Kansas Ford Dealer, went out to race the Santa Fe Express train one day, and won! The Super Chief was the country's first diesel-electric cross country express & ran Chicago-Los Angeles. One run averaged 60 and hit speeds as high as 100 mph on this 2,227-mile route.

The Lincoln-Zephyr in the picture may be a '36 or '37. I don't know who the Marlene Dietrich lookalike is.

Hard to tell from the angle that the photo was taken but the body style on the car could be an enclosed coupe - 5 passenger , that had the single door on each side stepped back from the windshield a bit and when you entered or exited you came in behind the front seat and then walked between the divided front seats to be able to sit up front - rear was a bench seat.
