  1. I have been looking for a low milage SC300/SC400 for some time. Looking at a SC300 with Automatic. Any positive or negative information on the 2JZ-GE motor or A340E automatic. Should I wait for a SC400?
  2. 1912 Garford Six-Fifty G-14 Six Cylinder with. 4.25 X 5.25 bore and stroke 139 inch wheelbase and two-wheel mechanical brakes
  3. Yes it is a Six. It has been raining here for 36 hours thanks to Hurricane Beta and I haven't ventured out to the garage. Should be past in the AM and will get photos of the engine. I have them backed up on a hard drive but will be quicker to take new ones. I never seem to get around to organizing my photos.
  4. I drive a dually and tow either a 34 or 48 ft gooseneck. If the inner tire goes flat it starts beating against the other tire producing heat that results in a blowout of the second tire. It also blows the plastic dually fender out. Ask me how I know.
  5. Where I grew up in rural Iowa Kicking Tires was a slang term meaning to spent the afternoon looking at used cars ie “we’re going out this afternoon to kick some tires” According to Goodyear Jack m is correct
  6. I think there is room in the club for both of you. If not I’m out of here.
  7. My initial interest was Cadillacs 1929 to 1938.. When I transitioned from the show field to touring my interests broadened, and I now have cars from every decade from the 20s to the 80's. My favorite is the 12 Garford and the most fun to drive currently is the LeMans convertible (CLONE)
  8. On my first Glidden my wife and I were sitting next to a pleasant older gentleman (not as old as I am now) who wore bib overalls everyday on the tour. While chit chatting I asked him how long it was going to take him to return to his home in Texas. About two to three hours depending on the wind, he replied. Oh, you are flying home and shipping your car I asked. He replied, no I had my jet retrofitted so I can take it with me!!!
  9. Again the "Old Car Hobby" encompasses a very diverse group of "private" individuals as demonstrated in this posting. You don't make friends by calling their car a Fake. At a time when the future of many clubs is in jeopardy we can't afford to be dismissive of others. Think where the membership of this club would be if everyone over 70 resigned, and we are going to, some sooner than others. Just my TCW.
  10. After reading this post a couple thoughts come to mind: !. As long as there is no deception between buyer and seller who cares. 2. Although cloning for profit will never disappear many clones were created by individual hobby minded individuals who simply set out to build something they desired but couldn't afford at the time. 3. I may be mistaken but I detect a "holier than thou" attitude in some of the posts. This is a big hobby, I appreciate your opinion but I do not have to agree especially since it is MY money to spend as I please. If a car is listed as a clone or tribute where is the problem? 4. I own 25 antique cars and one clone and have won the Presidents Cup and have scored 100 points in CCCA many times if my memory is correct, Guess which car I drove to coffee this morning. I am also adding a OD transmission and Vintage Air which I couldn't do if it were real. When I purchased it I was not looking for a clone but slowly the advantages of a clone became apparent. I drive my cars and haven't had a car on a show field in 20 years
  11. Sorry for being late but I just found the photos today and had to digitize them. A retired attorney from my wife’s home town would come to my office for a yearly check up beginning in the late 80’s. Every year he would tell me about his great Cadillac that I should buy from him. Every year my reply was “when you arrive at a price and are ready to sell call me”. Interesting he didn’t know what year or model it was. About 5 or 6 years after our initial discussion he left a message with my wife “tell doc to get his a— down here and buy my car or I am going to sell it to a neighbors who wants to hot rod it”. It had been sitting in his private airplane hanger for 18 years after acquiring it in lieu of an unpaid legal bill. When he titled it he wrote the mileage on the title and had put 110 miles on it in 18 years. It is 100% original
  12. The motor sounds sophisticated like a much later motor. Congratulations and THANK YOU for deciding to keep it original and thank you for documenting your adventure for all of us.
  13. Jeff I am NOT going to let my wife see photos of your garage!!!
  14. What a great idea. Since I always carry a DeWalt impact wench and 2 or 3 batteries. What type of adapter did you use between the battery and the break away switch? Thanks
  15. Enjoy a night out with your "Love" I appreciate the feeling. Pam and I went out to dinner Friday night. First time in a restaurant since March 7. We can only pray for a normal "car hobby" season in 2021
  16. Ed. although you are a master of all things mechanical I think your directing skills equal your mechanical skills..This entire post has been executed masterfully and your victory post was exquisite. The video of the motor running will have to go some to beat "ode To Joy" Congratulations
  17. You are correct. Bidding would not have stopped at 10K if I were there. With all the online auction activity it is hard to keep abreast of what is on the market today, especially when you don't have room for another car or time for another project.
  18. I don't think anyone can understand that feeling without experiencing it. While living in the Fl panhandle on the gulf we evacuated five times. Each time we would pause in the driveway and get out of the Excursion for one last look at our beach house. I don't miss it. You were blessed John. Maybe our prayers helped.
  19. Hidden Hunter and I are members of the Early V8 Cadillac Group specializing in 15 through 29 Cads. You should join. Go to (groups.io/g/EarlyV8Cadillac) and register
  20. Those devices have been common in France for years. We saw them in action in Paris before I purchased my first smart phone and I haven't been back to Paris since 2011. Impressive!! I had forgotten all about them until your post.
  21. Great signs I had never seen before. Was Chryco the same as Mopar in the states?
