  1. If its a legit '67 GS it should also have a Star Wars air cleaner too !
  2. Good write up Mark, and definetly a time consuming PITA !! It will probably take more time to prep and mask than the actual paint application, but it will turn out great and you can rattle can it from any direction. Just apply thin coats so you don't get a thick build up on the shiny chrome edges. I used satin black, sign type vinyl inserts, cut to fit, on my '68 Riv plastic 'egg crate' grill for the black out areas.
  3. 2nd gen '68 has two keys.
  4. Sorry Frank - they might have been?, but I really don't recall, and I did not keep the packaging. They came from my local CTC (Canadian Tire Corporation) store, a Canadian automotive parts source, quite a while back, and the inserts were an 'exact' match, and fit, to the 'originals' on my Riviera.
  5. Just going from your pics Mario - this example is just too far gone to restore, without a lot of expense, frustration and time consuming bodywork !! Look for a better example, with a solid rust free underbody and keep this one as a 'parts car', or part it out, to recoupe some of your expenses, as others have advised.
  6. You should invest in a '69 Buick Shop Manual and a '69 Fisher Body Manual, all the info you need will be found there. They are available in CD, or hard copy format. It's the best investment you can make, if you plan on keeping the Riviera !! Removing the instrument cluster to gain access to the speed alert cable will be a major PITA !! The steel cable is located in the upper rear left hand corner of the instrument cluster - you might be able to use a spray silicone lube on it, if you can access the cable. You can pull the cluster, or pull the padded dash and try and get at it from the top. It is not accessible from under the dash as the Heater/AC ducts fill much of the space. As I said, a real PITA !!
  7. I purchased a rubber refill replacement blade for my wipers - they come in different lengths, and you simply cut them to the length required, and use the original hardware to retain the rubber wiper portion of each blade.
  8. Some good advice here - less is not always best !! Well worth the wait, and additional expense, for a quality job, if you can find a local plater.
  9. Like I said on v8buick Dale, "S-L-I-C-K" !! Now get that back bumper on, and put some miles on that "red headed" beauty.
  10. Pretty sure that flashlight holder is just an 'after market' part that has been added to the car, and is not a Buick option.
  11. Front or rear glass removal is a lot easier with a short wire and a second person in the car !!
  12. . . . not sure about a '69, as the fuel system is different - from the '68 Shop Manual: " When the ignition is turned off, the pointer may come to rest at any point on the dial (...guage)." So I don't think this is an indication of how much fuel is actually left in the tank Steve.

  14. Here you go Al - posted on v8buick by musclecarjohn !! http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?250010-Riviera-Nationals-in-Monterey-this-wknd&p=2047581&posted=1#post2047581
  15. As Dale so aptly dubbed it - the 'redheaded stepchild' of Rivieras !! According to the '70 dealer brochure, all '70 Rivieras came with fender skirts, iether the 'full' version, which completely covered most of the rear wheel opening, or the 'high profile' version, which left a portion of the rear wheel exposed. The '70 Riviera could also be ordered with, or without, the colour matched body side sweep spear molding. While I was never a fan of '70 Rivieras, I have come to appreciate the distinct styling features found on the '70 model. Do enjoy your '70 Tony, a big 'welcome' to the forum , and keep us posted on your progress !!
  16. . . . nice Riv, even has the 'purse hook' option !!

  18. Welcome to this site, and the ROA Sam, and good luck with that '67 ! The second generation Rivieras are very popular, and very nice looking cars - good advice from Jason. Get yourself a '67 Buick Shop Manual and a '67 Fisher Body Manual, they are probably the best investment you can make next to your membership in the ROA !! Get some pics up when you can, and document the resto with lots of pics.

    63 brake issue

. . . only if the adjusters are working properly, and are not siezed ! A good working braking system on a vehicle is a 'must' have - you should check it out, or have it checked by a qualified technician.
  20. WOW, nothing like making a silk purse out of a sow's ears Jason - those are just awesome and well worth the expense !! They even did the reverse side of the wheels, which are quite prone to rusting. Gonna look really nice on that '66 !! Thanks for your pictorial and the positive feedback.
  21. My rear drums are painted with Eastwood's cast iron grey. and still look good, much better than cast iron rust. For the aluminum fronts I just wire brushed them, with a 6" dia. wheel on a 1/2" variable speed drill, and they also have stood the test of time !
  22. Keep on writing Jason, they are great reading and most informative !!
  23. Still available from GM, if you want to replace the old ones !!
