  1. . . . same situation on '68/'69s - used a 3M spray adhesive for all pieces, just like you-know-what to a blanket !!
  2. In the event of a thermostat failure, (...getting stuck in the closed position), it will also allow some of the coolant to circulate - similar to a 'fail-safe' thermostat.
  3. Did you mean Rochester?, . . . sounds like a good ole 'JB weld' job to me, much less hassel than a heli-coil - epoxy !!
  4. In '68, all the lighter sockets (...3), have a screw type fuse device, that is situated between the lighter socket base and the +12V DC source, to protect each socket.
  5. Should be available from Home Depot, or Lowes in the fastener section, and probably any automotive supply store - take one of the old ones for comparison. They cut their own thread into the emblem pins, so don't over-tighten them, as the pins may break off !! You can also use a little dab of RTV silicone, or perma-gum in the speed nut recess to seal the holes for the pins.
  6. Simply replace it with one that doesn't have stripped out threads ? It just screws into the carb body. On a Q-jet, the air cleaner hold down threaded shaft can be reversed, but usually one end (...the air cleaner portion), has more threads ? Also - ensure you don't drop that threaded shaft into the carb or intake manifold !!
  7. Much easier to access, troubleshoot and repair with the seat removed - as Bill stated. If it's a bench seat, a 'helper' will make it easier to re&re also.
  8. Just buy a replacement relay - they should be an easy part to find - try some of the ROA member/dealers, they have great websites !
  9. That chrome trim is an aftermarket, previous owner add on, and is not correct. Probably someone had some left over self adhesive flex-plastic door edge guard material and found a new place to stick it ! Just remove it, along with any left over sticky residue - the underside of the hood has been painted body colour, and should be a satin, or semi-gloss black.
  10. Very nice example of a '65 Riviera - thanks for sharing the pride !!
  11. . . . sorry Don, remembered someone else had wheels rechromed at Rally America just after Jason Z., but couldn't remember 'whom'. They certainly do look great, along with your painting too !!
  12. Do a search here clamshells - Jason Zerbini posted a positive review, with some pictures on some '66 wheels he had sent to Rally America. It was big $$$$, but they looked great !!
  13. The 3 tab, OEM side lenses are still available from GM, Grp. 11.928 - #04765600, in addition to many repros from a half dozen aftermarket suppliers. The rear console lens is available from Lou Adzima at San Diego Reproduction Riviera Parts, 619-922-0311, a long time ROA member/dealer.
  14. Very sad news indeed, ... thanks for posting Ed & Sherry. We share your families loss Gene - your dad was very special to us all !! Randy 'n Mary
  15. Once it's off, a little grease on those studs will keep them from rusting, and make future removal a lot easier !
  16. With an electro-mechanical clock, it's usually just the contact points getting dirty, corroded or pitted. My '68 electric clock has run flawlessly for the past 15 years after a similar overhaul and servicing. I seriously considered purchasing a quartz conversion kit, but the 'man-over-machine' instinct won out !! I also had a couple of spares for backup and practice.
  17. Nice looking '69, asking price ?? - FYI: It has a '68 Riviera grill insert, just in case you were not aware.
  18. . . . here's a link to the v8buick thread Bill : http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?279854-66-67-Riviera-NOS-plus-used-and-rechromed-parts
  19. . . . just a little to radical for me, but it certainly appears to be well done. That rear end sorta reminds me of a Plymouth Savoy, Duster, or some other Mopar product ?
  20. Here's the contact info for rebuilt '63-'65 switches. Gordon Wolfgang, ROA #14214 gordon.wolfgang@msdminc.com 913-239-9299
  21. I believe the holes by the heel of the gas pedal position are for the 1/4-20 'ball studs' that actually hold the accelerator pedal in position, and those rear holes in the floor pan look like they might be seat belt mounts, or locating pins for assembly jigs ?? That would be my 'uneducated' guesstimate David.
  22. . . . well at least the screen on that "T" is good !!
  23. None of the centre caps pictured are correct for a '65 Buddy. They should be the thin style cap, with a black background and a silver 'R' logo. The one pictured is '71 up. The correct centre cap also fits a 2" dia. hole in the chrome wheel. The ribbed, cone type centre cap fits a 2 1/8" dia. hole, ('66-'70), but screw in retainers are available for either size hole.

    Sad news

Sad story in a way, albeit one with a happy ending - as all 'good things' must come to an end. Ken and Sue worked hard over the years to build a good business, and deserve to enjoy their retirement. They were great people to deal with, and a great source for all model Buick parts. Many members have benefitted from their support for the ROA !!
