If you want a pink house please don't waste clear redwood siding when anything would do.

If a person can whittle out a form from a block of wood, I think you could hammer out some brass or aluminum to that shape fairly easy. Maybe CNC a die and press in a shop press. That is how people produce the stuff that the restoration suppliers sell. It is a hobby after all.

Maybe Restoration Supply. Most every open car of a certain age used them. Maybe you could have them 3D printed.

What is the name of this vinyl roofing material
JFranklin replied to chistech's topic in General Discussion
I have known it as short cobra grain so you have it right. -
To add a few thousandths I use aluminum foil on loose threads. That should also work if any splines are left in the handle until you find a new handle.

Where do you live? I missed it if it is posted. I had good work done at Faith Plating in Los Angeles. they plate many shopping carts, and you know that chrome holds up. -
What is it Model B or Model C or T or A Engine
JFranklin replied to nyleeloise's topic in What is it?
I think the "C" on the head of the "B" engines led to people saying model C. The earlier B engines that went through factory rebuilding were fitted with counter balance for the crank that were actually in better balance than the later engines. -
There wasn't that much traffic wizzing by on the drivers side at the service station.

A lot of areas (most) only allowed entering and exiting from the curb, so the lock was in the most handy location.

What is it Model B or Model C or T or A Engine
JFranklin replied to nyleeloise's topic in What is it?
It is an A or B not C. If there is a port for a fuel pump on the passenger side front just above the pan rail it is a B engine with an A head. If it doesn't have that feature it is an A engine. It also may be a mixture of both since it isn't in a stock configuration. -

I read somewhere that Canadian Chevrolets kept the color bodies and black fenders longer than in the USA. -
Use real water pump graphite packing not faucet string. the string will damage the shaft. grease it well on install. If you can't find correct packing look for a model A Ford supply house, they carry it.

I think with computer aided machining, sprockets would be much less expensive than chain at $100./ft. Until it is established, the cost of sprockets, and savings in using off the shelf chain, should not be discounted offhand.

Charlie Shaver's Knight engine Where is it?
JFranklin replied to PFindlay's topic in General Discussion
There is an article in the W.O.K.R. club magazine "The Starter" a few years back covering a rebuild that entailed making new sleeves due to too much clearance. Maybe all it needed was more carbon?. Maybe you can locate that edition, as it described the process the machine shop used. -
Since he already needs the chain take that cost out of the equation.
