  1. I sprung an oil leak on my "PA" Plymouth at a flare fitting connecting the oil filter and the oil guage to the main oil gallery. At first I thought this was due to a loose connection............so I tightened it up a bit. The leak persisted. After working and sweating (it's in the 90's here in Atlanta) for several hours; trying solutions and studying. I determined the threads in the holes the tubes with the flares go were stripped. So off to my favorite super hardware with the many cluttered shelves and hard to find stuff............but to no avail. They had several hundred types /sizes/descriptions of fittings, but none like mine. McMaster Carr.........no luck........MSC..........no luck..........even called a flared fitting supplier in Michigan. No one knew of this type. My '28 Chrysler has one similiar to the Plymouth one also. Seems this was a common design feature of late twenties/early thirties Mopar oil guage, oil filter design. The question is " Where can I obtain a new one? I have included several pics of the part both the chrome plated one from the Ply mouth and the one my '28 series "72" parts car. There is also a pic of the side of the Plymouth block showing the mounting hole and the lines leading to the oil filter and the oil pressure guage.
  2. GE..............Great looking car! I love HPOF. I would also suggest you get a copy of Hemmings and check out a few of the suppliers. I've found a few calls arround and a little persistence yields results on hard to find parts. Again.......great car and a two door sedan!

  5. Micheal........Be careful...........keep in mind all of the lubricants have settled in the lowest points and every thing above them is dry........what gas there was has degenerated to goo..........loosen things up and flush out systems before you attempt to start it.......electrical terminals have corroded..............jack it up and spin the wheels.....take your time.
  6. I like the black radiator shell............It could probably have been specified in '32.............Johan you should do some research and find out if painted shells were ordered or available in'32..........I have a "28 Lincoln with a painted shell...............It was original to the car........again you do fantastic work!.......
  7. tcslr..............your system on the backside is good! Your problem is with the potmetal handle/ escutcheon system on the other side. It is siezed up. Here are some pics of my '28 Chrysler windshield assembly, for reference. Note, I have included some pics of the handle side.

Jim, Thanx, I did some some rough castings (sand) at a local art foundry. Good suggestion. This system works great for certain parts: however, for what I am trying to produce it will not work. Ken thank you Afriend and I built a crude blast furnace in his back yard using a reversed vacuum cleaner, a piece of 12" steel pipe lined with casting sand, limestone, coke, iron ore to create cast iron. We were 12 years old. I grew up in the Pittsburg of the south, Birmingham. Restorer 32 The local/ regional foundries can't produce what I need. I need a lost wax/investment cast piece. People arround me can't do it to the right size or detail. DavidAU, Thanx, I am aware of these folks.
