  1. I mentioned this great set of movies on the Chevrolet forum a while back; however, I thought I would refer to it again. It is one of the many automotive films in the Prelinger archive. There are many others from the teens to the sixties.Master Hands (Part I) : Handy (Jam) Organization : Free Download & Streaming : Internet Archive
  2. Interesting film,,,,I started working in a cotton mill when I was 11 years old.
  3. Just tuned in to your gallery............GREAT HPOF! That is a fantastic Nash!
  4. Check your atmospheric vent on the vacuum tank it could be partially restricted.
  5. According to Champion, the old number/series is C-4 and the newer replacement is C-16C. Quite a few companies made plugs in the day and an interchange replacement should be easy to locate.

    rotting old truck

Air cleaner is rare! This is an excellent parts car.................where is it ?
  7. What's the car beyond the Everett Metzger and Flanders?
  8. Great question!..........I am really interested in this answer..........I think Packard32 is right on the 36 Packard....I'm beating '33,,,,'34,,,for the last year.
  9. Whew!..................I sold all my auto parts three years ago.

    Trade

Thanx again Jim.......I want to get rid of the whole set.........no picking and choosing....it could be a deal for the right person.
  11. Wayne, you should be able to use the original copper washers without heat treating them. A snug tight fit should make them seal properly. As to the leather boot , give me some time as I am using the parts car as a pattern and I will need to dismantle the assembly and clean it to obtain a pattern.
  12. Wayne.........Thanx for the hose references. As to the copper washers and banjo bolts, would you publish some pictures of these items?

    Trade

Jim, Thanx for your response..............yes, it would seem that selling the collections and then buying a car would be logical; however, finding a venue /market is not easy for me since I have been out of the stamp/coin loop for many years. I just thought a car guy might be in the market for these items and we could work up a trade.
  14. This may not be the forum to post this; however, here goes. I would like to trade a stamp collection (mostly plate blocks) for a collector car. I also have some proof sets to throw in. Is anyone interested?
  15. They are right........it is a late "L" Lincoln. Many of these were converted to commercial service fire, wrecker, etc in their service lives. The bumpers, wheels and headlights have been changed yet it is a Lincoln. Note, Lincoln shipped several chassis to commercial body builders in the day. Another note , the headlights look "M" Stutz.
  16. Jim according to Champion catalogue of 1974; the original plug was a 15 (old types listed in spec of 1930 to 1950). Their "new type" was a D-16. You should be able to find a set of either of these from an oldtime parts supplier.
  17. Wayne..........I just noticed the return question (at least for my car) is answered in the last paragraph above the diagram of the master cylinder in my last post. I checked the dust boot on the parts car I have, it is a leather boot, not rubber. Another point is, I read an ad some years ago (WPC News?) from someone who had reproduced the thick rubber hoses that go from the frame to the wheels. Do you or anyone else know who this was or where to find repros? I also remember reading an article saying Chrysler had to totaly re-engineer the Lockheed brake system after they bought it as it would not function properly as first designed.
  18. Alright.............Alright..........The best line is "Owner desperate must sell".........You want $3,000; price it in the add at $6800.00. Rest assured, you'll get a call offering half your price. Roll arround on the floor and cry. Tell him you have to have the money now and make a tidy margin over what you would have taken in the first place!
  19. Wayne, here is a picture of my master cylinder from a series "72" owners manual. Note No. 3 (piston stop) and the nub on the cup that holds it in the piston. By the way, does your car have a brake light switch?
  20. Wayne,,,,thanks for bringing this up! You have got me thinking about my brake system. From what I had figured to date, I thought this would be a no brainer! My master cylinder mounts on the engine block on the fly wheel housing with the open end to the rear of the car and not on the transmission. The wheel cylinder return springs must push fluid back to the master cylinder to return the piston to start/nuetral; as my car also has a sliding/telescoping push rod. , so the pedal cannot pull it back. Here are some pics of my assembly less the piston stop.
  21. Kyle...........I have two series "72"s and both have the H744294 number.
  22. W......I will attempt to address your issue. This may be more confusion for you. I am presently in the process of restoring a '28 series "72" Chrysler (see restorations blog). From what I can see you have a B-70 series Chrysler, or the first series built. The brake cylinder you show in many ways looks similiar to the unit that fits my "72". According to the parts book I have, the master cylinders for the B-70 and the 72 are the same; however, I do find a reference to a series 70 part # 54508 installed on cars after serial number WD-506-L. I am including some pics of my cylinders for your review. According to what I know there is no piston return spring for the master cylinder and the piston cup is attached to the piston. Mine shows a small nub on the back of the cup that pops into a hole in the piston rather than bolting on as your parts indicate. My parts list shows a piston stop which looks like a large flat spring in the bottom of the cylinder; which may be the successor to your fitting extension. Note, does your cylinder have three studs it fits on? I hope I have added confusion to the question.
  23. I believe it is a 1929 Stearns Knight Coupe 4 pas
  24. What can I say..................This is getting VERY interesting! And you speak English! I'm going to check out flights and room rates. G'day and Thank You!
