  1. Hi, Thank you for your interest. I have sent you a message through this forum.
  2. Wayne was a nice guy and had a lot of nice cars and things.
  3. For what it's worth, this is my experience and thoughts. My car originally had a Marvel carburetor on it, but when I bought my 37 in 1975 it had a Carter WDO on it with a manual choke. I drove it that way for many, many years without problems. It wasn't right but it ran good. Being my car is fairly original except for paint I eventually decided to return it to a more normal setup. Having heard horror stories about the Marvel I opted to replace the WDO with a Stromberg AA-1. I already had a correct manifold, well used AA-1 and choke. I had the carburetor and choke rebuilt, mounted the manifold and discovered the throttle linkage is different than that from the Marvel. I called up Dave and got the correct linkage. The car starts and runs alright, everything works properly but the car doesn't run as good as it did with that old WDO. I'm not switching back to the WDO, but there are times I think about whether I made a mistake taking it off the car. Bottom line are you having the car judged? How important is originality to you? Carl
  4. My solution for stubborn tires was to put a steel plate on the tire so when depressed it would be just shy of the wheel then drive a truck up the plate. Reverse wheel and same procedure for the other bead.
  5. Not sure if this is still available so I'd check with the seller (not mine). https://www.ebay.com/itm/393543313712?nma=true&si=1PlV0CR4HR2JVXEfvbug0uI7INI%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  6. I think it depends on the company or service provider. I had major issues with a hard wired phone service and would be without a phone for weeks waiting for a repairman to come out. At the time I owned stock in the company and I not only wrote a letter to the CEO I sent a copy to every person on the board of directors listed in their annual report. Every single letter was returned unopened. Obviously they figured because they had a monopoly they couldn't be bothered. I no longer have their service.
  7. You can call him and see, but I don't think so. I have seen seen him at a number of the National meets. He's best reached at 763-427-3460 between 4 and 7 pm Central.
  8. If you can't find a buyer you could also give Dave Tacheny a call and see if he is interested. I know he has purchased items from a friend.
  9. Your prices sound reasonable to me, but like Rock10 said there is a small demand and you have to find the right person.
  10. Not sure if I would have a used one and don't have a chamce t look for a wee or so, but Bob's might be an option. https://bobsautomobilia.com/shop/starters-parts/37-41-rebuilt-starter-soleniod-su-rexa/ Carl
  11. Never bought from them, but seems they've been in business for a while. Not sure how much shipping from Australia would be, but small package might not be bad. For what it's worth check them out; https://vintageandclassicreproductions.com/product_brands/1937-1938-buick/ Carl
  12. Larry I'm sorry to hear of the accident, glad you weren't hurt. As I recall your car, I would think your car was a 3+. Go for more and good luck!
  13. I don't like making a habit of driving any old car on the highway because people don't take into consideration they don't stop like a modern car. Back in 1975 I did drive my 37 Buick from Maine home on the NY Toll road all they way across NY, Pa and a little bit of Ohio at 55-60 mph (legal speed at the time) and it wasn't even until mid 90's I did anything to the engine and that was a valve job. Course I was younger, the car was new to me and nobody ever told me the car couldn't do it. Any old car is more pleasant to enjoy on secondary roads.
  14. Pity if I had one it would save a lot in shipping. I think there is still one in the nose piece in the back barn but don't remember anything about condition. I'll try and check this weekend. We'll miss you. Last couple years I've been afraid it might be the last year for the hotel.
  15. I think so, but would have to check. Didn't know you had a 37. Are you coming to Auburn this year?
  16. Light blue fenders are still available and the left dark blue fender. Thanks for the purchase Nick. Carl
  17. Nice looking car. Sounds right. The dipstick is only about 2.5 inches high and is located between the coil and distributor.
  18. This car is long gone and the manual needs a new home. Couple creases in the front cover, but leafing through the pages I didn't see any torn pages, writing or smudges. First page does have a corner creased. I'm asking $16 which would include media shipping in the lower 48.
  19. I have two pair of 1937 Buick Special front fenders that I would like to find a new home for. Neither pair has spare tire wheel wells. I'm located in Northeastern Ohio and not willing to ship. I'm asking $400 for the pair of light blue fenders which have had a little work done to them. The dark blue fenders are pretty much untouched and I'm asking $300 for them. I'm attaching one picture of each pair but if anyone is interested I already have more on the computer I will gladly email or post if requested. Carl
  20. I sent you a private message if you are still looking for front fenders.
  21. I generally use Permatex non hardening No 2 Form a Gasket. It might be harder to take the hose back off but the hose will come off with a little prying. I'd rather deal with a little effort to remove a hose then have to do the job a second time.
  22. Those are not correct for a 1937 Buick Special either. Here is a link to Gary's car before he started his restoration; If you look at the third picture you will see the wiper doesn't have a flange. I'm sure later in his efforts you can find close up pictures of the wiper mounts. Carl
  23. I'm posting this here instead of a private response in case anybody else is interested in interchange of rear compartment handles. Carl
