  1. In real estate it comes down to location, location, location. For cars, it's miles, miles and appearance. The '89 is in better shape with 70,000 less miles, if it's in your price range is seems an easy choice.
  2. This is a great idea Ronnie. As useful as the tech stuff is, I love hearing other peoples Reatta stories. My Reatta story began in 1990 when my father called me on the phone and asked me to come test drive a car he was thinking about buying, He would not reveal the car which added to the excitement. We drove to a Buick dealer in Wheaton, IL. I think it was Suburban Buick GMC. Out front was a new 1990 Red Reatta Coupe. Wow, was I impressed. I had never seen such a beautiful car, it looks so futuristic! We test drove the car and the dealer said they would sell it as a demo for $25k. Unfortunately, my mother had a different idea of what they needed as transportation and they ended up buying a 1991 Cadillac Eldorado, metallic green with a saddle interior. I still have the Eldo in my garage. Since that test drive I have owned 4 different Reatta's, first, a 1990 claret red/tan coupe, a blue 1989 coupe, a 1991 white convertible with white wheels and my current car, a 1991 red/tan convertible. I think Reatta's are like Corvette's, once you have owned one you will always want one.
  3. Thanks for taking so much time and energy chasing down this story. As a real fan of Oldsmobile's all I can say is that is one good looking Olds!
  4. I would post this in the general Reatta discussion area, being in the buy/sell you will get many less viewers. And, your not really buying or selling anything, you just want information. Good Luck!
  5. Called the Marriot to grab Jim's reservation. They said in no uncertain terms that once a room is cancelled, it is NOT available for another club member but goes into the general block of rooms, so his $129 a night room is now $359 a night, no accomidation to BCA members. This is the worst hotel chain I have ever dealt with, ever.
  6. Did you have a reservation for Thursday Jim?
  7. Not sure what he means about conf rooms as well. I need a room for Thursday night myself, I have rooms at the Marriot for Fri & sat.
  8. Made some inquiries, It's a Devin with a 6cyl corsair motor with quad carbs According to Wiki: Devin Enterprises is an American automotive manufacturer that operated from 1955 to 1964. Devin was mainly known for producing high quality fiberglass car bodies that were sold as kits, but they also produced automotive accessories as well as complete automobiles. The company was founded by Bill Devin. I am out of garage space but if I decided to buy one I guess I could store it in the trunk of my 1974 Delta 88!
  9. I never got to to meet the owner but it was as cute as a button and the people loved it Just standing close to it gave you a serious desire to get it and take it for a spin.
  10. There was another thread on this car. It appears to be in great shape and is an unusual color which I find very attractive. I do not know why people are so skeptical about getting low to mid 20's on low mile convertibles. It seems that Reatta enthusiasts are all doubting Thomas types. Just recently I helped someone locate a low miles 1991 convertible, he paid $23,000 for the car and at this point, if you want to own this sort of car, your probably going to pay over 20 grand for it. There were other threads on Reatta values and I posted links to pricey low miles convertibles. The reply was just that they are asking good money does not mean they are getting good money. Well, 23 grand last week is current and in fact a verified sale, people are getting good money for these cars. It seems Reatta people should view this as good news. As the money gets better for higher end Reatta's the prices for the rest will follow. A rising tide raises all ships. Two weeks ago I was offered a good deal more money for my car than I paid for it, again, people are finally looking at Reatta's as collectibles. Of course, just my opinion.
  11. Went to a show & shine in central Phoenix yesterday. Had some amazing cars and the people just raved over the Reatta. Of interest to people that like Buick, here is a 1987 LeSabre and look at this massive Cadillac, blue with red interior. Nice!
  12. You have a very beautiful car there Keith. I just love white Reatta's, they just look so good and with a red interior, best Reatta color combo ever? Perhaps. I agree that the uniqueness of these cars are catching up to the public and people are really beginning to appreciated Buick's 4 year experiment. I have been taking nine out to weekend show and shines and can't believe the love the Reatta gets. Porsche, Audi, Corvette, Muatang---keep'em, I will take my Reatta any day.
  13. Funny thing, the Ferrari 360 and the Reatta do have many similarities, pointed hood, long rear deck, particularly the convertible versions. Any press for the Reatta is a good thing and good to have a defender at the ready.
  14. What interesting sketches, really interesting stuff. Thank you for posting Barney. I do hope your wife is on the mend, she is in my prayers.
  15. According to this article, Reatta was to be available for the 1984 model year. Interesting early concept shots.I did not post the whole article but in the portion posted. it makes mention of our very own Barney Eaton. 16. Very exciting, please keep us posted. You may want to pop in a few times for some photo's along the way. Keeping my fingers crossed for Reynaldo!
  17. Not mine, have been in touch with this guy however, nice car. https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/buick/reatta/1825754.html
  18. If it's like my 1991 Eldorado the computer knows it is out of freon and turns off the compressor. You have to trick it by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting the cable. Have the AC on the highest (cooldest) setting and quickly recharge before the computer sends the freon warning again. I hope that helps.
  19. Congrats!! Those annoying squeak and rattle issues can be maddening to track down, job well done. Just a bit more enjoyment now taking a nice summer cruise.
  20. Very beautiful car, your a very lucky guy!!
  21. I did my front brakes tonight and when I took off the front hubcaps (the 6 inch cover that hides the bolts) it seems rather dirty. I would like to polish them but do not want to experiment with chrome cleaners or other possible inappropriate cleaners/polishes. Does anyone have a product they recommend?
  22. Very busy Reatta day today, replaced the radio module, replaced the passenger side speaker and did the front brakes. Not a bad day! The stereo now sounds amazing and the car stops on a dime. I think the pads were the original ones. Good to feel a firm brake petal again!!
  23. Here are the photos and the problem is pretty easy to spot. These type mirrors came stck on Pace car, Cutlass SX and I think were optional on the 442. One year only unfortunately. I think KD is right, I was just throwing up a Hail Mary!!
  24. Not my Reatta but a different project. The drivers side read view mirror in my 1970 Pace car is damaged. It has a base and that is screwed into the body of the mirror. That area is damaged and it can't be screwed in like it should be. Due to the type of metal used it can't be welded. I am considering using JB Weld to attach the base to the mirror but am unsure if it could with stand highway speed of 70 MPH. Just how good is JB Weld? I have use it for the magnet sensor on my old Reatta and it really set up well.Any thoughts? These are sport mirror and are on year only, very rare and very costly to replace, I would love a quick and effective fix.
  25. I think that Firebird hood may be compensating for some, say, personal issues.
