  1. What a nice car and a steal for some lucky buyer. Good luck with the sale.
  2. I love the wood grain look, very nice appearance!
  3. Glad things worked out for you Nic! Good to get that beautiful '90 back on the road for sure. Please don't feel like an "idiot." Doing work on cars, making a huge mistakes and feeling that sense of sheer panic is part of the fun, isn't it? Makes me feel alive!
  4. Hello guys. Does anyone know where the air conditioning blower motor relay is on a '91 Eldo? It does not seem to be on the firewall where I thought I would be, any help would be appreciated!

  6. Buying new hex head bolts for my water pump pulley. What did they design it so you can't fix a socket on it?
  7. I was checking out some maintenance items on my car and took a look at my fuel filter. Not sure why but I did not get around to this item when I bought the car. I normally inspect this stuff earlier. The filter in the car is silver with no markings at all. It looks clean but usually when you buy a new one it has the brand name on it. Did the factory fuel filters have any markings on them? Could this be the original? Any insight would be appreciated. One cool thing, the fuel line still has three factory warning stickers next to the filter, very cool, very original.
  8. That's so funny, I do the same thing. I just posted an ad on CL to sell my 1983 Hurst/Olds. I really went through this car and now it's perfect, nothing left to do so, off to a new owner http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/5167325514.html
  9. Actually the car runs very good with a bad interrupter. The cam sensor sets the timing for the sequential fuel injection. It sends a pulse to the ECM. If it is not working properly, it will still spray gas but not sequentially but all at once. It leads to a rougher idle and slightly reduced mileage. The worst part of it for me is the service engine light will be illuminated while you drive the car which ruins the fun of driving the car. Perhaps it's OCD but when that light is on my blood pressure raises 30 points, drive me crazy!
  10. It's definitely and age thing. As Donald Trump would say, the engineers that designed the interrupter are stupid! If you have not seen one, it is a powerful magnet that is held in place by a cheap plastic housing. The type of plastic that gets brittle with age and deteriorates in time. Since the interrupter never actually touches anything, the only way it fails is if the plastic gets so weak with age the magnet, being drawn to the cam sprocket, actually breaks itself loose from the housing by the power of the magnet. Yep, it's one of those items that they knew would fail with age but designed it that way anyway. If the housing was a non-conductive metal this part would never, ever fail.
  11. Congrats on the job, what a remarkable different in sound, right? It's great to make improvements to our cars, makes you feel good about yourself
  12. Nice trio of cars, very impressive!! Wow, I noticed that absolute beauty disappear from Craigslist recently and wondered who bought it. What a fantastic car, it looks great. Congratulations on the purchase and when it gets home, posts some photo's. I love my 1991 Eldorado, it's my daily driver and is an exceptional car. I love your taste in cars
  13. That's a great suggestion Glenn, thanks! It sure is a nice car, I would drive it anywhere in the USA and be confident. I have had a few people ask me why I am selling it. I just finished the restoration on my 1974 H/O Indy car and will be showing it now. I am currently writing up and article about the '74 to be should published in "Journey With Olds" and "Thunder & Lightning" in upcoming issues. I love the '83 and really want it to go to someone who appreciates the car.
  14. Just need some creativity. WWMD? (What Would MacGyver Do?)
  15. For sale is a 1983 Hurst/Olds in excellent condition. This car is owned by the Director of the Hurst/Olds Club of America and a one year membership to the Hurst/Olds Club of America is included with the purchase of this car. It has won many car shows and looks like new. (see photo's) This car features Hurst Lightning Rod shifters and draws lots of attention at car shows. It is fun to drive and sounds great! The engine compartment is fully detailed, the interior looks great and everything works on the car. The truck is carpeted, the AC blows cold and it has new tires. The stereo is stock but with upgraded Pioneer speakers, the original speakers come with the car. It is a numbers matching car. There are a very few of these cars out there. The Hurst/Olds cars are special cars and you have the chance to own a piece of automotive history. Asking $14,995 or make an offer.
  16. Mission accomplished, SES light off, all is well in Gold Canyon, AZ. Thank you Reatta forum for being the best friend of Reatta owner 's everywhere. One last thanks to Padgett for his tutorial and short cut procedure for curing an ill interrupter. Brilliant!
  17. Beware of buying used sub-woofers. They can be blown or near blown when you get them even if they look new. Buy it at Walmart and you can take it back the next day if your not delighted. The wiring is pretty straight forward. Of the wires needed you can catch most in the truck. The ground & speaker wires are a breeze. I ran the wires for off/on, positive lead and adjustable tone up through the door sill. They hide rather easily and you can run them right to the front. I mounted the off/on and tone adjustment close to the hood pull under the dash. They are hidden and easy to reach and are away from your legs. I was going to mount them in the storage area above the CD player but decided against it. I still think two controls would look good there but would not have a stock look. Make sure your positive wire is the correct gauge wire and run it to the fuse block or battery. Al the wires can be run under the grey truck carpet so you do not have to see any wires at all, it is all very neat and tidy. There is a quick disconnect on the sub so if you need to remove it for a long trip for luggage, that would be an easy task. That's about it. The difference in a stock unit that is functioning properly and a stock unit that has a sub for help with depth of sound is striking. The Reatta is the most perfect vessel for a fantastic sound system. The placement of the speakers is amazing and it sounds better than my home stereo and the separation is almost as good as head phones.
  18. OK, after the test drive the other day with no success, I bought the new interrupter today. When I removed the sensor the magnet was lined up right in the window just where I left it even though i drove the car. Am I going crazy or just terribly lucky? When you start the car the interrupter MUST spin around, right? I just can't calcuate the odds on it being lined up again? What exactly is the interrupter mounted too? I can't find any pictures in my service manual. Edit-I just found a blow up (in the service manual) and the magnet is located on the camshaft sprocket so it has to turn when started. Again, what are the chances of it being lined up both times?? Sorry for the rant tonight.
  19. Nice car, interesting with the black top and side molding. I am sure this combo is rare and it looks great.
  20. The new sensor did not work. OK, so if I knock out the old interrupter and plasitic bits fall into the engine block, where does the debris go? Do I need to change the oil after I knock the old one out? Help!
  21. Today a truly great man passed away, Jack "Doc" Watson. He was a larger than life individual that really made a difference in this world. He will be missed dearly. Our loss will be heavens gain.
  22. You an really see the pride of ownership, your car is a beauty. Good luck with your sale. It's amazing how similar our tastes are in cars. We both own white Reatta's, both own 1991 Eldorado's, both own Delta 88's and I used to own a Trofeo. We must have been separated at birth
  23. Will do John but just keep this in mind, I mentioned in my post that I did already replace the sensor 6 months ago so I will be viewing two replacement sensors, not a new one and the original one that came with the car. I fear Ronnie may be right, if you click on the image of the cam magnet interrupter I posted it expands and you can see that perhaps it is damaged. Like two of the pins are missing. We shall see soon....
  24. It appears the magnet interrupter is intact and looks decent. I am going to try a new cam sensor first, it was replaced 8 months ago but perhaps failed. Wish me luck! One side note and this comes under believe it or not----when I went to inspect the magnet and was prepared to turn the engine over to find it, it was lined up after I took off the sensor. This is a true story, maybe I should buy a lottery ticket!!
  25. Wow, I am glad I asked! You have owned so many great cars, very cool. I really love the big bodied convertible's, really great cruisers. Your white Reatta convertible had white body moldings, pretty car and looks so familiar
