  1. I drove my Reatta to the Donald Trump Rally in Phoenix yesterday. He is an amazing speaker, very humorous and insightful. I was impressed and glad I went and actually hear what he stands for!

Coolant tank cleaning tips: Fill up the coolant recovery tank with vinegar and let sit at least over night. Drain. Squirt soft soap in the tank next. (guys, this is something you normally use in the kitchen, just ask your wife. Think of it as liquid sand paper) Get a 8 by 8 inch rag wet and stick it inside the coolant tank and shake it like hell for as long as you can. Invite your friends over and let them shake it for a while or bribe your kids to shake it. Whew. Take out the rag and rinse well. That is as clean as a coolant tank can get.
  3. It looks good, nice to see so many photo's - great post and nice car
  4. Hey, I love tech--lots!! I own a Reatta after all My problem is with the gov't picking winners & losers that's all. Hey, the horses have left the barn on that one so in the great scheme of things, perhaps the moneys better spent on tech than other things. I saw a Tesla the other day and LOVED it!! Oh, Rush and .04%.....make that more like 25%. Rush is right quite a bit but when he gets it wrong, he really gets it wrong. Most right wing talkers just preach to the chorus. It stifles real thought. I am a libertarian and basically just want to be left alone.
  5. As all good things must end, alas, KDirk's narrative is forever gone. I wish it were still here as wiser words were never uttered on a mere automotive forum. If you look back, the roaring twenties were called the roaring twenties for good reason, then the ceiling caved in and a whole generation was traumatized. We heard about the ensuing misery for an entire generation. I guess i do watch Fox News, if I were not so busy I would love to watch it more than I do. As far as Reatta's go, you can bet you will never see me driving mine to a Bernie Sanders rally or tooling my way to a voting booth to vote for Mr. Clinton's wife. If ignorance was bliss we live in the most blissful society ever conceived.
  6. I agree wholeheartedly with KDirk and would not change a comma. His thoughts should be carved in granite and posted on every government building. Of course, the libs would remove it when they are removing the ten commandments and throw them in the same garbage truck. I know we are not to discuss politics on automotive forums but the libs are not constrained by such limitations. They are like the "Terminator" and will not stop, ever, until they have their way and people like us are silenced for good. If like minded people do not begin to talk about what is happening to our beloved country, we will lose it and it will be just another example of a grand experiment that failed.
  7. Do keep us posted and put up photo's of the progress if you could. Best of luck!
  8. VERY COOL--I love it! I just checked with my DMV, they allow a "reatta" plate but alas, it is taken. Some guys have all the luck
  9. I am so happy for you Ronnie. You do so much, it's nice to see that once and the while good guys finish first!
  10. I think your referring to "The Buick Reatta-The Complete History." I do own this and it's fantastic. Great advise as it really covers everything so well. After reading this book you really know the Reatta story. I also have a book put out by Buick called "Reatta, The Premium American 2-seater" and also some old magazines like "Autoweek" that featured era correct Reatta writing ups for their magazines. (Just a side note- why does this sites spell checker jeep telling me that I am misspelling the word "Reatta." Doesn't it know we are typing these posts on a site about Reatta's?? Things that make you say Hummmm....)
  11. I received a solicitation today from a Dart Video Group asking me to purchase a video documenting the creation and building of our very own, Reatta by Buick. It looks good to me but was wondering if anyone has seen this video and is it worth it and good quality video? Thanks for your input!
  12. Very nice photo's, thanks for posting!

It seems to me that if you want to look at offers for your item you should put it on EBAY. You can list a price and also have a submit offer feature as well. Maybe you could add an email address so when they submit and offer they can email you and submit in writing why they would make an ideal home for the item as well. You can't be sure they would actually provide a good home, only time will tell.
  14. What a beautiful car! Good luck with the sale. I hope it goes to an appreciative home that keeps it up. Just curious, what are your other cars?
  15. I just purchased this from a guy off EBAY and wanted to share. It was a part of a Reatta Kiosk which I assume was displayed at new car shows back in the day. The guy has 8 pieces, now 7 and they all show different cars and info about our cars. I will probably bring it to car shows next year after the show season starts again here in Phoenix next fall. It needs just a bit of cosmetic work done where it attached to the kiosk on the far left & right, should be an easy fix.
  16. Here is a simple diagram I use to check my posts and PM messages on the new Reatta forum. I hope it helps.
  17. I like your new Avatar MrEarl! Very cool. hey we have something in common other than Reatta's. My father is from Athens too....well, Athens, Greece
  18. The internal Website clock is off on my computer as well. It shows the last post on this thread as 3:20 AM but it is actually 7:25 PM. Is it just me?
  19. What a great car to save and restore, your my hero!! Good luck with the resto and keep us posted!
  20. I owned a 1988 Jaguar XJ-SC, very nice and beautiful car. The Cabby as they are called by the British has a removable top and featured a 12 cylinder motor. I really loved that car. Like KD said, the parts however were outrageous to purchase. My last straw was $750 for a window lift motor, I sold the car after that and never check Craigslist or the classifieds for Jags ever now-period! I imagine Saab is not far off.
  21. Mike at www.buickreattaparts.com does carry this part just so you know. According to Mike, they do have the accumulators available, and they are very new, produced in the last six months. this is critical, as new "old" accumulators have completely lost their nitrogen charge. Good to know, I hope this helps!
  22. Has not gotten back to me either. I think one flew over the cuckoo's nest

    Whats it worth

The real problem to me with the outside is the red monochromatic scheme. The painted bumpers, door handles and such are a real acquired taste. Ask Oldsmobile and the Rallye 350. Half of the very limited run ended up at action instead of being sold at dealerships. Any time you paint over where people expect chrome and stainless is very risky. I really enjoy highly modified cars and have owned several myself. When you stray from stock it's at your peril. I can't tell you how many cars sell at Barrett-Jackson sell at huge losses. It seems like great money to get $65,000 for a highly modified 1966 Impala until you find out the owner put $110,000 in the restoration!!

    Whats it worth

Well, since you asked. I feel like you would get around $1500 for the car as it sits. The inside looks like it was nuked, the paint looks nice but it seems most people that like Reatta's like them correct, ditto for the after market radio. When you throw in AC problems, well, your not looking good. The pinstripes look like they were put on by a child. You say you are done with this project but that is just what your handing over to the next guy, a real project. Also, you did not mention the miles, if it were low miles that would help but I doubt it is in that condition. I see coupe's in very good condition going for around $3000 and sometimes less. You may just list it low and move on to your next project.
  25. Interesting ad in Michigan, the guy "claims" it's a S-60: http://saginaw.craigslist.org/cto/5038728784.html
