  1. The one he sold was impeccable for sure. I went thru the red molding vs black molding issue at the time and even posted on this site about peoples preferences. Both are outstanding and really make a difference appearance in the car. Johns had red moldings and of course, I ended up with black.
  2. I was negotiating with John Young for 416. We still talk but did not come to terms and I let it go. The car was sold thereafter, funny story. I guy approached me at a car show and wanted to buy mu 422. I would not sell it. I told him about 416 and he ended up purchasing the car. Small world.
  3. I am really looking forward to hanging out with the twins this fall. I think with all three in a row at a car show it will be shock and awe Buick Reatta style!
  4. My friend just bought this beautiful 29000 mile Reatta. He owns 418 and 419, my car is 422. His other Reatta is a super low mile car as well. It's nice that some of these fine cars are still in like new shape. Both of his cars are red molding with tan pinstripes.
  5. Just an update on my 1991 Vert. I have had trouble free service and the car is running great. I needed to add some freon this spring but it is holding a charge. Not sure how that happens. Summer in Arizona means a car cover and monthly warm-up around the neighborhood. I am looking forward to the fall!
  6. I just pulled the relay, did not jump it. That may explain why it did not work. Bottom line, we got the job done.
  7. Just a follow up. I pulled the ac relay but the codes needed to be cleared to trick the computer into thinking everything was ok. I charged her up and the ac works at the moment. Time will tell if its leaking. Thanks for the suggestion Barney.
  8. Just on time, the weather warms up and the AC goes out. My 1991 Reatta service AC light came on. I thought I must have a leak so I went to charge it. Checked the charge and it seems to still have a charge but the compressor is not engaged. The fuse was not blown. I did the old disconnect the battery trick to kick start the compressor but when I restarted, it did not engage. Prior to taking it to a mechanic (which I hate to do) are there any tips or tricks to get this thing running again. Summer in Arizona, help!
  9. Welcome to the group! Please post some photo's of the new car when you get a chance.
  10. Surprisingly, I really like the black top. I agree, with black moldings even better 😁
  11. Great result today as the Reatta took first in class. Detailed to the max and showed like a dream. I met Terry Kenney today as well. He was a Reatta designer, engineer and help put together the Craft Centre. It was great talking to him and he added many insights that I did not know. He would be a great guest as a national meet or Reatta get together.
  12. He used to frequent this site, not sure if he does anymore. This book should be owned by any Reatta Enthusiast: Gary D. Smith The receiver of this payment is Verified duncan.smith@juno.com 231-631-1075
  13. Another good history is a book, "The Buick Reatta The Complete History." It was written by Duncan Smith. There were very hard to find but I have a source that has them. I had the book, sold it to Kingsley awhile back and recently purchased it again. Good stuff. If anyone wants contact info, let me know.
  14. I generally display three things with the car at shows. 1) the window sticker (laminated) 2) Statement of mileage (17000) and owners info and 3) a brief overview of what a Reatta is (thanks Ronnie, I plagiarized yours and added a bit). I agree with Barney, it's good for the auto collecting guy and girl to become familiar with such a unique and desirable car. Just like dashmaster attested to, you take'em out and people appreciate and admire them, even daily drivers.
  15. That is just too funny!! I may have to steal that idea for Thunder & Lightning.
  16. The black car looked good for the $15000 asking price was too high. Should have left it off and set the reserve at the number he wanted. From what I have seen, if your asking $15000 you best have under 40000 or under on the odometer. You have to anticipate repairs on a 80,000 mile car and for that money, well....good luck.
  17. Here are two photo's from a show and shine last weekend at the Scottsdale Pavilions in Arizona. We always talk about when our cars are going to get the respect they deserve. In my opinion, that day has arrived. When I pulled in and headed for parking I heard numerous comments like "wow, it's a Reatta," and have not seen one of those for some time, cool car." after I parked it I had more people checking it out than the Mopar, GM and Ford rides. People were really interested in this rarely seen car. Even if your car is a high miles and not perfect, if you check out a local show and shine I bet you will be surprised at the love your Reatta gets.
  18. I have been lurking and rather inactive here for some time. I would hate to see Ronnie step down and i have always really loved this forum. I was, and still am, the moderator of the Hurst/Olds forum, a very thankless job. Please, carry on and keep the Reatta torch lit and held high. This forum is responsible for many Reatta's that would have been abandoned- that would be a shame.
  19. I really love the select 60's particularly the red/white interior. As some may recall I was searching for a low mile one before I bought my current car. That would be the only other car I would trade mine for, that's him much i like them. Beautiful, stunning!!
  20. Sometimes you just get lucky and take a photo that really nails it. I took this last night at a local Scottsdale show and shine.
  21. Well, it was 101 at 6 tonight but tomorrow we are having our first day in the low 90's. Summer is over here in Phoenix for now so off comes the car cover. First time I had the top down since June. Oh my it felt good to take the Reatta out tonight.
  22. Hello everyone. I am thinking about buying an older low mile car to have fun in. Trying to keep the miles on the Reatta to a minimum. I live in Phoenix, 330 days of sun and 365 days of dust. If I parked my new driver outside with a quality car cover would it keep it nice or is it a fool's errand? I would hate to buy a decent car and watch it turn to crap in a few years. Any advice would be appreciated.
  23. Are you sure your car is not a jaguar? They always smell like gas, particularly in the trunk area. ?
  24. I love this ad. Hard to find people with a good sense of humor these days ?
  25. Just to complete this thread, the car needed a new ECM. Make a sense, the code did not get stored because the storage device was fubar.
