  1. When an article starts talking about infotainment systems as the reason for a poor showing in a survey, I don't care nearly as much. Yes I'd prefer everything work on a new vehicle, but I'm less concerned about something of that nature than more critical functions and fit / finish and material quality. But that's just me and I seem to be in a minority on things like that in our society.
  2. How do you like the Envision Keith? I sat in one here at my local dealer. I think it's a good size for us. The Rainier is almost 11 years old and if he gets his way, there will be a fifth driver here next month.
  3. No. See for the possibilities for the model 58. Note that fenders are always black for 1929.
  4. Mine was modified from two to four barrel, dual exhaust, and a shift kit...not necessarily the fastest thing around, but there is definitely some seat of the pants feel to it. Definitely a fun car (when more or less issue-free), relatively modern, and easy to drive. A shame are I missed the Texas car - I could have added to the collection.
  5. Just over two tons...4018 lbs shipping weight for a two door hardtop if I recall.
  6. No matter what model it is, it's out of my price point as it sits. Assuming the side trim isn't there, new interior, new tires, cleaning up (hopeful of paint merely being oxidized) and who knows what else, it's more project than I'd want...I have enough of those. Perhaps not out to lunch on price, but more than I'd be willing to spend right now.
  7. Maple Leaf trucks varied a bit over the years, but generally they were a Canadian Chevrolet truck with some modifications and got (at least some) GMC drivetrain.
  8. I'm far from an expert, so my question is just that. Could the timing chain being off by "a few teeth" be enough for some piston / valve interference to have occurred, damaging valves in most or all cylinders?
  9. Could it have been an emblem only used on export cars perhap?
  10. Interesting. I havent seen anything like that on my 1929-51. I do like the maple leaf though.
  11. I've seen a number of rail cars in museums, but I don't recall any as late as 1955. I'm pretty sure I have photos of 1938 and 1939 Buick rail cars somewhere. One of them is in the Western Development Museum in Moose Jaw, SK.
  12. Or Jawga. Liking that convertible.
  13. Winds came up here. There's not much for leaves left on the trees in the country. Things are a bit more sheltered in the city. Perhaps I will be able to get a photo or two with the Wildcat before putting her away for the winter.
  14. That looks very much like the wagon that used to be up here.
  15. Sounds about right for a stock 322 and Dynaflow, don't ya think? ??
  16. I haven't seen nor heard anything, but with the new Envision on a smaller platform, it doesn't make sense that you would downsize the bigger platform, unless it just means moving the GMC model to the smaller platform. Why on earth would you change a vehicle because it is competing with and selling better than another model? That completely goes against any logic of giving the customer what they want. Now, if the Yukon / Tahoe is a higher profit vehicle and this is just about greed then it may be time for me to reassess my brand loyalty and simply look at what best meets our needs. If what Barney says is true, then this company needs to get its head out of its posterior. We are not amused. Of course, Buick isn't allowed to build the Avista because it may compete with the Camaro or Corvette I suppose. Sigh.
  17. I will have to consult with my wife as its her car, but I have a fairly complete '52. It's been years, but I have driven the car. Of course, you may not want a car that needs to cross half the continent including an international border. That would add considerably to the cost and hassle.
  18. I think by use of the word "was", six seven may be asking about back in the day when they were new. I can't answer that question, but I know growing up in central Saskatchewan where winters are long and cold, there weren't very many convertibles around as they weren't very practical for our climate and in farm country, there wasn't a lot of extravagant wealth shown, except perhaps with a new tractor.

Cool. I will have to check paint codes, but that 1924(?) looks to be about right fir Lido Green, which is the primary colour of my 1929. A 1959 Estate Wagon and 1961 Special wagon are not cars typically seen very often, let alone in the same place.
  20. I remember them on tractors. They are apparently illegal here.
  21. My wife is a geriatrician and bought one. She was leaving her house keys in the car to test the app. She was somewhat interested for herself, but also for her client base. Of course, the map doesn't help much when you are in the vicinity but it seems to me it will make noise as well.
  22. My 1941 Special was passed up for a WWII era movie shot here because the art director didn't want to use two-tone cars. Ultimately there were two-tone cars there since they used some older cars. The Hessen Affair was the name if the picture...apparently not very good and not released locally.
  23. The Tile does that. https://www.thetileapp.com
