  1. Cool. I could have used one in the photo lane in Bellevue in 2007...I stalled the 1941 a number of times because the 60s era Buick behind me pulled up so close I was concerned about rolling back into him.
  2. You may want to look at https://www.fatsco.net/ I bought a rebuild kit from them for the automatic in my 1962 a number of years ago.
  3. Sweet car. Happily (?), it is simply too far away for it to be feasible, and the US government has added a step / cost in getting a car across the 49th. I’m happy to have come across this thread. Good luck with the car.
  4. Here’s a bit of a contribution...the 1923 when we first met it. Mark Shaw had picked it up in California, brought it to Washington state, then to South Bend for the National (we drove it briefly). He then brought it back west into Wisconsin and I picked it up from there later that summer...we actually attended a car show in the Twin Cities area with it on the trailer at a Buick dealership there. The 1941 was in the trailer on a March day...I had to blow the snow out from in front of the shop to be able to get the truck and trailer close enough with the winch (didn’t start it). Luke and I used the winch to get it in the trailer and unloaded it. We ultimately pushed it for some filming of “Made In Winnipeg: The Terry Sawchuk Story”. A copy of the video made it’s way to Brian’s hands at a forum swap at a national meet and presumably is in the Carolinas. The 1929 was moved by flat deck a couple years ago to take it to my mechanic for them to do mechanical work on. That all got done and it came home in a similar fashion 2 years ago in January...it made its way into the garage under its own steam. Finally the 1966 Wildcat was a sad time as it wouldn’t restart after crossing the border on our trip to Allentown. It turned out to be a simple issue, but we wound up only driving 2 cars down rather than three as planned. There are some other photos, but I’d have to look on the computer rather than my mobile devices.

  7. Love it, my rascally friend. Does that mean there’s a larger than can be refused cheque en route for a 54-69? Or are you going to want a nicer one, I suppose 🙄😉 I’m not entirely sure what one Buick I would procure, but there is a shortlist which could serve as a starting point. 1033, GN/Turbo Regal, last generation Riviera, 1954 Skylark, etc. Of course, with the condition of roads locally and the fact I still encounter gravel, I actually have a preference for less than perfect cars...I’d rather have something I can enjoy than something that needs to be behind glass.

  9. If all goes according to plan, Oklahoma will be lucky 13...joined in time for 2003. Driving down, if we touch Kansas, I’ll hit the thirtieth state I’ve been to...getting to Concord would add to that total. Of course, I’ve only been to seven out of ten Canadian provinces so far.
  10. I met with a fellow today who plans to have a Mustang he took in trade for sale there...I don’t see a description nor photos though yet. It looks like it would be fun to attend.

They may not be all that well-adjusted, but I’ve locked up the wheels on my 1966 Wildcat relatively easily and unintentionally...the one time I recall was in the city in a 50 km/hr (31 mph) zone. I can’t speak for you, but I can say I’ve been comfortable stopping my Wildcat with drum brakes. The first time we drove it anywhere after getting the engine rebuilt and body done was to Rochester, MN in 2006. Our children were riding in the car at ages 6, 8, and 10. I didn’t feel we were putting the family at unnecessary risk (wife was driving while I primarily drove the 1962 Special convertible, which wasn’t as well sorted). As NTX noted, brake fade and such will likely be better than with drums, but if we drive our cars cautiously, then drum brakes will most likely meet our needs. We can’t fix stupid people cutting us off or turning immediately in front of us. Good luck coming to a decision. It’s a great car. Enjoy it. Thanks for the dash photo...it’s the same as the Wildcat and it brings me warmth on this chilly winter day.
  13. Pete - is that a white car? That was my initial thought, but some of the photos lean toward a pale beige on my iPad. Would the seat belts have been added as well, or were they optional that early? My Special convertible had one added to the passenger bucket seat only, which would not have been a factory deal I’m sure.
  14. What part of the world are these in? (My wheels are in decent shape...just asking the clarifying question...I already have too much stuff that isn’t organized very well.)
  15. Here you go. Mine is missing the McLaughlin-Buick logo on the tie bar, but you will notice the mount for license plate and the script logo. I believe someone in Australia had reproduced some a while back, but is likely out. Ignore the fact that a bunch of stuff is painted silver...it’s the first year for exterior chrome on a Buick and the fellow doing the work was enthusiastic...I kind of like it and while I will eventually get the chrome work done, my intent is to look after other higher priorities first, like completing getting it on the road. Note that Bill at the 29buick.ca site puts out a quarterly newsletter with lots of good technical and travel information.
  16. It’s on the right side of the border, but the shop is full and I’ve got a number of semi-active projects going on along with maintenance of too many drivers. It is nice to think about in -30 under the cover of snow. Good luck. That would be neat to have to go along with my 4 cylinder 1923.

  18. Skyhawk at minimum, possibly a Roadhawk. Cool. They are neat little cars and not seen very often any more. I’m doing what I can to change that.
  19. I’d chalk it up to an error and contact them to verify. Patching fabric in could be difficult to get a good match.
  20. Look at the signature of RivGS...just a slight bias. That said, I’d personally prefer the personal luxury of a first generation Riv over a later Camaro. With the 425, that’s a nice car. Question may be what do you think of it longer term, and what might Dad think / want / prefer? My bet would be on the Riviera, but as a Buick nut, I really don’t have a grasp of the rest of the market.

  22. I apologize that I completely forgot about this after getting home. I will see if I can access well enough for a decent photo. Anything that doesn’t move in our household eventually gets covered.
  23. Well done! That’s 30 more miles than I can put on for another month or two. We will be lucky to have dry roads by the end of March.
  24. I’ve never seen that logo / name anywhere on my 1966 Wildcat. It has A/C, but perhaps there were more than one option. Mine’s a Canadian car as well, which sometimes show some quirky differences.
  25. We’ll go there by Boeing or Airbus most likely...business trip.
