  1. My Tampico Red 1959 Estate Wagon has a hitch...would look neat to have this one beside it as a compare / contrast.
  2. This reminds me of going up with a friend who had his pilot’s license in a Cessna. Part of the pre-flight check was to pull a bit of fuel from the (bottom of) the tank. Since water sinks relative to fuel, you could see if there was water in the bottom of the tank. The ounce (give or take) of fuel was just tossed...this was well over 20 years ago and environmental rules were a bit more lax back then. Which makes me think it would be neat if we could draw from the bottom of the tank to check and, if necessary, drain any water. The airplane had some sort of valve that allowed this to happen on the bottom of the wing. Of course, the effects of contaminated fuel could be a bit more drastic if you were up a few thousand feet in a small aircraft.
  3. Another option is to just contact Marck Barker (East Coast Reatta Parts). If he isn’t interested in taking it off your hands, he may be able to point you in the right direction. Of course, the Reatta forum is also a good option. There is a Reatta group on Facebook, but you have to request membership and have it granted...perhaps more effort than desired just to sell a poster. Good luck.
  4. I started the day at a mountain resort...ski slopes aren’t open yet, but did see white higher up the mountains before we got to the sea part of the Sea to Sky Highway. dmfconsult fed us...it was a great evening. No photos but memories are etched in my brain.
  5. Would it be more appropriate in a place like Bethlehem, PA? ?
  6. I saw snow today...and a 1978 Estate Wagon...does that count? They were only about 100 miles apart give or take.
  7. Well, no driving again, but as we are presently in Vancouver, Doug (aka dmfconsult) and his wife came by the hotel in the wagon and we had a very nice dinner and got to know them. I’d been on the archival judging team for the wagon in Portland in 2014. Thanks so much for the hospitality. We’re going to need to spend more time when we find ourselves back here again (although I’d rather not drive in Vancouver if I can avoid it).
  8. Thanks Larry. That’s the place I was thinking of...I just could’t get enough of the name straight in my head to do a search.
  9. Of course, it might have been Kansas...forgot my geography...sigh.
  10. Thanks Larry. I wish I could figure it out. Unless I dreamt it, I am certain I’d seen a museum near my route south for next year that had one...I believe it was the later series, perhaps 1923.
  11. I should be able to get photos of the grill for you. It is different from the American grill. One has holes through for mounting the emblem while the other (I believe McLaughlin-Buick) had an emblem mounted on the light tie bar. I’m away from home for the weekend so can’t do anything immediately. Even then, the garage is a bit of a mess, so may take some time. A couple of the new tires have gone flat...I believe it’s in the valve stems / extensions.
  12. Hello. I’d put this request in the Buick Trucks thread but wasn’t sure if that is where it had shown up. There was a museum that has a Buick truck...I thought it was in Oklahoma but could have been Nebraska. I was recently taking another look at routing our trip to Midwest City (to this point it is still a go) for next year’s national meet and am hopeful I can stop in and see it either on the way down or back home. Can anyone recall the location? There had been a link to it, but I must have closed the tab. Thanks.
  13. I didn’t drive an old Buick this weekend, but headed down to the Twin Cities for a Gopher State Chapter dinner for those who have actively participated. I did spend some time wandering around a pole barn with mostly old Buicks in it. It was good to breathe that air and spend some time with Buick friends again.
  14. Well, I was in a Buick world today and mapped routes to Midwest City. Give or take, that’s 1100 miles one way so I can actually see a car putting on the challenge mileage next year. The 2020 National would be in the range of 1200 miles one way. So, if I can actually get to the next couple National meets and actually drive cars, we may get there.
  15. I’m guessing it was in another thread, but there was a Buick truck at a museum in OK or KS that would sort of be on our route to next year’s national meet. Does anyone else remember that or is it just proof of my decaying gray matter? Thanks.
  16. Ad is gone. Sigh. ? About the same mileage as our 1976...fun little car.
  17. While many of the points may be valid, how many people are going to go halfway across the continent for a car valued at $5000 or less? I’ve done it, but I’m a bit diseased that way. When it costs me $500 or $1000 to get a car or have it shipped, I’m going to consider that in part of the overall value equation. It’s that simple. Deals are made when potential buyers and those wanting to sell come to an agreement. If there are none available in your area, you may go further afield. If there are a lot, that will drive the value down. As for me, while the barns are full, there’s always a degree of interest in nice cars. However, if I look at this generation of Riviera, there’s an S-Type locally for sale (at a dealer that wants stupid money for it...he knows what he has and doesn’t need the space) and there’s one I could procure in MN if I so desired. It doesn’t make sense for me to go a lot further afield. It looks like a nice car that needs some care. Not everyone who wants to purchase a personal luxury car is all that concerned about performance...perhaps they’d rather have a nice, reasonably fuel-efficient highway cruiser. Another thing to keep in mind with the comments is that Roberta has been around Buicks a long time and noted she was posting for someone. While she may not know the market for these particular cars, I’m pretty sure she’s got a reasonable idea of value and would have let the owner know if they were completely out to lunch on price. I don’t think there’s any need to tear the car down. Sorry...haven’t had my afternoon nap...guess I should stay out of the buy/sell forum.
  18. Interesting...I have friends and relatives living in Martensville...on the outskirts of Saskatoon..
  19. It looks like it could be a gemsbok to me (Kalahari region of Southern Africa).
  20. Hey Doug, we have a retreat in Whistler the first weekend of November...there isn’t a pile of time, but we drive back after the event Sunday afternoon and fly out Monday morning. We will be staying at the Radisson Hotel Vancouver Airport in Richmond the night of November 4 if it works to get together.
