  1. Interesting. Some dealers don’t know how to sell in the first place though. When we bought our 2017 Regal, our favoured dealership didn’t have any in stock. They ultimately brought one in for us from another dealership. I just went and looked at the new Buick stock of this dealer. Of a total of 15 Buicks there was one car (a Lacrosse) and 14 classified as SUV (really crossover) reasonably evenly divided among the three. To be fair this is a quasi-rural dealership so they get most of their business in trucks. Then I looked at the Buick Canada site. We don’t even get the TourX...just like the Cascada. Sigh.
  2. Do you think that bottom end has seen work? ????
  3. GM of Canada Vintage Vehicle Services (I think that’s what they’re called) have decent records for cars produced in Canada or destined for the Canadian market. Many have been privately imported since so they don’t have records. I have very good information for my 1966 Wildcat, 1975 Electra, and 1988 Reatta. Going back to 1956, they could only provide general information.
  4. Finally got a car out this year. On Sunday, attempting to keep up with the grass in the country, Suzanne asked what the odds were of bringing the Skyhawk back to the city with us. We didn’t get all the grass cut. Tomorrow or next week it may be used in a movie shoot. If that pans out, I’ll definitely try to get some photos and information to share.
  5. Great idea. Thanks for sharing that tidbit.
  6. Split into groups...intentionally or not. Someone always knows where they are and where they’re going.
  7. I think the answer is “it depends”. I don’t deal with chartering buses so I have no clue what sort of costs they run. I’d love to be able to dig in and see how the costs add up and what is included in a given tour. I hope everyone understands that there are costs and there’s no free ride. I do see both sides of the fence. When I go to a location I’ve not visited before, I do like to see the local flavour of things and some of the sites, so a planned tour can be a pleasant way to do that, while meeting and chatting with other BCA members on the bus. A bus ride can be more comfortable especially with heavy traffic or high heat. We typically drive 2-3 days to get to a National, so depending on what we drive, I sometimes like a break from driving. Disappointment stems from missed or unmet expectations. To lessen that, perhaps more extensive tour descriptions could be given. As Bugle space is at a premium, that may mean alternating the tour descriptions each month. As for the swap meet vendors, my biggest pet peeve is that they aren’t there through the length of the meet. We often plan to arrive the night before the meet starts, but the first day of the meet has a very sparse swap space. Also, as I often participate in judging, when I’m done with that on Saturday many of them are already packed up. So, if I day a day tour (whether organized or on my own), if it is Thursday or Friday I’m the one who misses out on the opportunity to shop the swap. Of course, how I plan my meet also depends on things like when tours are offered. Some years, the same tour has been offered on multiple days so we can choose when to take it. Sometimes there have been different tours each day so if there’s a tour we want to take it is what we do on the day it is offered. Another important point is a need to have a more complete agenda out earlier. There are a variety of meetings and events that occur at a National, so knowing when the membership meeting or division meetings and events occur is important as well. Of course, as these grow in number, the logistics are getting increasingly challenging. For instance, we own Reattas, a 1959, and pre-war Buicks...if we wanted to attend each group’s meetings it becomes a time stretch. Perhaps I’m getting to a point of rambling. I hope these thoughts are of value. We’ve had some really enjoyable tours over the years and we’ve been on some disappointing ones as well. There are always people who don’t drive their Buick to the meet, whether they fly in or the Buick isn’t ready or whatever, so having some transportation options available to them is important.
  8. Well Mark, in a month or two, the Bugle wrap will have 2019 registration with tours and prices so it makes sense it is already planned out. The bigger the group, the longer the logistics need for planning.
  9. I think before making a definitive comment, I would be interested in the cost breakdown. We are typically five at the National when we go. If half the cost is for the bus, I can often buy a lot of fuel with that (I.e. tour to Norte Dame in 2013). The other factor for me is which car(s) I have at a meet, in terms of convenience or comfort for a driving tour. We generally have to drive at least two days to get to the meet, so in some respects I’d rather not drive until it’s time to head home. There’s lots of factors. On on another note, perhaps this discussion merits its own thread.
  10. $97,000 Canadian so almost. I love low mileage time capsules. That said, it’s tough for me to think of a time capsule that is younger than me. I didn’t read the entire description but a car like this deserves maintenance and to be driven a bit. If paying a premium for near-zero mileage, then it’s a museum piece. What do you do, replace the hood struts so they hold up the hood, or leave it all original showing a car you paid that much for with a chunk of wood? I'd rather get into a nice one at half or a third of the price that I can drive and enjoy, but that’s me. Of course if I was able to justify half that on expanding the fleet, there’s a 1916 truck in Michigan that would be mine.
  11. Depends on how well you schedule that ??
  12. Just waiting for all the fencing and construction to be done ?
  13. ???? Not happening this year...sigh. Planning for for next year but a lot of my schedule isn’t known until closer to the date ?? At least there will be no more graduations to interfere. As for seeing MrEarl, this devil may just need to go down to Jawja.
  14. Thanks Marck. I got what I needed.
  15. Drool. I’ve seen this truck in person before and would love to own it. That said, I haven’t had a lottery win recently, so I can’t quite justify the price (especially once converted to Canadian dollars), especially in light of very full storage capacity. At least I have a ticket for Friday’s draw...sigh.
  16. Anyone who can quote Bob and Doug is OK, especially if he also drives a ‘41 Buick. ?
  17. Wonderful Wednesday! In the mess that is my house, I’ve misplaced the program for the national last year. I’d like to contact one of the swap meet vendors so I was hoping someone could look up a number for me. Thanks.
  18. Sounds like you got your excuse....
  19. Now you just need a 1954 Century Estate Wagon to pull said Airstream.
  20. Now you just need a 1954 Century Estate Wagon to pull said Airstream.
  21. I surprised the exhaust shop by insisting they put them on the 1966 Wildcat. More cost, and likely more back pressure from a power perspective but so nice and quiet.
  22. Aside from leap years, December 30 is day 364 of the year.
  23. December 30 could qualify, except in leap years ??
