  1. It's interesting to see things move from here to GA to Sweden. The 1958 wagon used to belong to a friend locally. Good to know things arrived safely.
  2. Tell us how you really feel Matt ???
  3. Borrow a laptop so you can unzip it outside or in the garage...if need be perhaps the free wifi at the McDonalds will reach into the parking lot. I'd be concerned about damaged packets though.
  4. She must to put up with all that ??? That said, for a night on the town, you clean up better than expected ? Nice work. I don't have the patience nor energy to be doing this. Remind me not to show this to Suzanne. Theres a beach party planned for Da Nang, so perhaps it will be at Red Beach. I haven't qualified for that yet though.
  5. I'd have to look up Red Beach. We fly into Hanoi, spend a night on Halong Bay, Hoi An, and wind up in Saigon. It's going down o be a blast. That said, we are going under very different circumstances than you did. Another experience to add to the list along with the papal audience during Holy Week 2017.
  6. I'm looking forward to Vietnamese beer in May, from a research perspective if nothing else.
  7. What sort of distance would that be? On a pure cost basis, if it's half a tank of fuel, it's in the same range as a bus. What sort of temperature would be the norm? I like both options, but depending which vehicle I have and how comfortable I am with it on the road, I could lean toward bus. Also, if I were to bring the 1923 or 1929, I may be less inclined to drive.
  8. Agreed. Molson Canadian is pretty poor too...a short step up from Bud though. One of of my favourite things is to sample the local beer wherever I go. It's a tough life.
  9. Well, it would be better if you had a beer, but that's another discussion altogether.
  10. That was my initial reaction.
  11. With the car in the RSA, where might it have been manufactured? When McLaughlin started production, the first ten years were known as McLaughlin, before becoming McLaughlin-Buick, so this is unlikely a Canadian car, unless it was restored with more readily available parts.
  12. Just kidding around...I'd still love to have a Buick (or McLaughlin) truck someday. I'd need to make an effort to make space first though.
  13. The oversize was suggested by Tony Bult. In finding these, my mechanic was able to order them through the usual means, meaning no extra shipping costs to get them here. If I'd ordered the car tires from the usual suspects, it would have resulted in a considerably larger bill. I will need to make some modifications to the sidemount covers and extend the hold-downs, but that won't be insurmountable.
  14. 130 miles from where I'll be later this week...perhaps I should go spend Lamar's money ??
  15. Those are called "poodle seats" in our Reatta for the two standard poodles. There's bound to be a photo somewhere but the social director won't give me the time to find one.
  16. In my opinion the truck would be more welcome than the Mustang. Google Maps tells me it's a 24 hour drive from hear to Athens, along with border crossing, tolls, and a time zone change. Who knows what I'd be prepared to bring. Flying is easier for that sort of distance.
  17. Probably a good move to have Elvis guard the "luggage" underneath. ??
  18. Nice. A few years ago a friend's daughter was getting married and wanted an old car. I showed some photos of the ones I thought may be acceptable and the bride chose my 1941 Special. It was a nice day, they enjoyed the car, and I offered my services to them as a wedding gift.
  19. Not to hijack, but I thought I'd share this pin, which could also potentially be put on a similar hat, since Lamar is spelling chauffeur.
  20. Probably because it isn't his car. A number of years back, someone noted an ad in the Carolinas for a 1952 Roadmaster. Photos attached to the ad were mine and at least one had my wife in the photo.
  21. Thanks gentlemen. Larry, I bought this car in 2005 and finally got started doing something with it in March 2016.
  22. Isn't what you see for the top typically "cobra grain vinyl"? I've seen it as "corbra" so I don't know which would be the typo. Neat car...would certainly be interesting to own. My space is pretty full and I have a couple projects on the go so not for me right now.
  23. Here are photos of the old and new tires. There isn't a lot of height difference. Lock to lock of the steering wheel is fine, but that doesn't determine they will never touch if suspension is compressed at the same time. You can see from from the profile view that the width is essentially the same but the tread is wider (tires straighter / less rounded profile). Brian - Tony is the wrong direction compared to Denver...almost orthogonal. Primarily now it is about finishing the body and some odds and ends.
