General Motors Assembly Plant, Doraville Georgia
Thriller replied to MrEarl's topic in Buick - General
Mine is just a big metal box, much less interesting than your BS&SG. -
I've only been here since 1998...born and raised north of Saskatoon. The fishing is much better here. The weather is slightly less extreme with respect to temperature but higher humidity makes it less comfortable.

Whimper. After the the bill I just paid for the 1929 and upcoming bill for the 1959, I can't see these moving north of the border. That said, there is probably more nostalgia involved if they stayed in Jawja. I didn't spend a lot of times with maps, so don't know how close we were, but I was in Doraville with Luke in June 2016. -
They are slightly oversized. I have photos of these tires compared to what was on there previously and it was a fairly insignificant difference, although visible. They do have a more vertical sidewall rather than the more rounded car tires. These are a current production truck tire (but not that common).

Perhaps the fact that I'm not going may be a snag. We we are in wintry Winnipeg (call it 60 miles north of the MN/ND border) smack dab in the middle of a continental climate. I'm a prairie boy and am fine with it, but until I have a heated shop, winter is a limiting factor. The car came from a small town about an hour SSW of here and is a Canadian car. A local car club member has a slide dating to about 1970 and the car looked pretty much the same. Larry - I'm well aware of the pregnant moniker regarding styling, but I've never quite understood it.

Don't expect much development before things start to thaw more. If it's something I can do in the house, then maybe. Otherwise, it should start to warm up around March (it isn't really that bad - not all the time anyway, but there are days where an unheated garage is not a pleasant place at all to be). We are expected to have overnight lows around -30 C again later this week.
-
Not quite the typical shot, but the 1929 came home today. We drove it out to the truck, and from the truck into the garage...with a bit of pushing to get it exactly where we wanted it.

Well, after a week delay due to poor customer service, I got a different towing service to bring the 1929 home today. While the cosmetic restoration and other odds and ends remain, the mechanical work is pretty much done. With the slightly larger tires, I've got to make some modifications to the sidemount mounting hardware and one of the split rims is twisted / warped enough that it couldn't be used, so I need to find one of those. I have a few photos here...I took some video as well, but don't know if that will show up or how easily things can be dealt with (it's been a long time since I've tried any of that...I can load to YouTube if need be and link it).

So Lamar will be pulling a small trailer with a 1954 Roadmaster? Cool. I'm looking forward to the photos. Off to Phoenix next week. The convention rate was $239/night so we are renting a car and staying with snowbird friends. Even buying a couple bottles of wine and a gift will be less than what the hotel wants. Oh well, I guess that means I either need to reassess how frugal I am or earn more. -
1937 Buick Model 48: RESTORATION HAS BEGUN! (Photo)

I'm wondering if something like stamping the hood name plate might work. Have a pad with paint, then touch the piece down onto it. -
Raise your hand if you drove at least one old Buick this weekend

Similar here - exams will be done but I'd risk it getting back in time for grad. At least next year it won't interfere with anyone's schooling. -
how to convert `29 standard from wood to wire wheels?
Thriller replied to jps's topic in Buick - Pre War
This site may help: http://www.29buickphotos.com/ I have the artillery wheels on my 29-51 and will keep it that way. I think Bill McLaughlin had each type of wheel (disc, wire, and artillery) for his car. -
But you can't see them if the sun is up and you live in a visor-free zone.

Ah...I just figured it out. Cal is cowl. Not a criticism- I just thought I'd post in case anyone else hadn't figured it out yet. I'm really just here for the pictures ?

It was -31C (-24F give or take) here at 9:00 this morning. It's making preparations to bring the 1929 home more challenging.

I didn't recall the headlights being inset so far from the corners on the 1968 Riviera. Perhaps I haven't seen one with lights on...or my gray matter is failing.

Merry Christmas everyone and best wishes for a wonderful 2018 filled with health, happiness, prosperity, and Buicks.

There isn't a whole lot of south left from Mr. Earl. -
Thanks. The American Buick was mounted to the rad (holes through for that) while the McLaughlin-Buick emblem like yours were mounted on the tie bar. I wouldn't have expected to see it in red. I haven't looked all that hard. Door handles are reproduced at least. So, for 1929, McLaughlin used a different radiator as ours don't have the holes for mounting a badge on the car.

Watch cars get destroyed by wrecking ball
Thriller replied to Bill Stoneberg's topic in Buick - General
WANT one...actually a few would be nice so long as it is powerful enough to move the ensuing wreckage of the fools misbehaving in front of me out of the way.
