Super Car Week and Cavallino in Palm Beach this week.
edinmass replied to edinmass's topic in General Discussion
I will post more photos in the next day or two..........some crazy stuff running around this weekend. Sunday is a party at The Donald’s place..........and the feature cars on display will be way above average. -
1935 Auburn colors are well established, and going outside the box will make the car very difficult to sell. And every time you take it out people will tell you it’s incorrect and you committed a sin. The ACD is a fantastic world upon itself............ purity in the ACD world is a virtue...........

1931 LaSalle 345 Steering wheel horn button lever
edinmass replied to LewUnderCar's topic in Technical
Anyone who wants help on 1929-1932 Cadillac and LaSalle wheels and controls please PM me. They are very difficult to deal with, parts are expensive at best, and it’s a can of worms once you get them apart......it’s not for the shady tree mechanic to tackle. -
Your garage and bank account are NEVER big enough...........

There goes MY neighborhood!

Nope.....the answer is the truly wealthy then and now want bespoke automobiles.........and they don’t care what it costs.

Super Car Week and Cavallino in Palm Beach this week.

One interesting aspect of my job is “spill over” cars that I get to drive. Unfortunately, 99 percent can’t be photographed or discussed. In the last 12 months I have driven well over a dozen eight figure cars..........I would like to fall in love with one of those fancy Fiat 250 GTO’s, but to me if I can’t pound the hell out of it.......I rather not play with them. Most interesting lesson learned in the last year......all the insane Alfa’s that you read so much about..........aren’t much better than a Packard standard eight with a go cart body on them. I was terribly disappointed with several I drove. I’m still in love with American iron. -
One of the more interesting car shows in the country is on this week. It's all post war and modern super cars......along with the main Ferrari show for the Western Hemisphere The Cavallino event. Personally modern and post was stuff doesn't interest me, although I'm fortunate that I have been able to drive a variety of them............they are just too dam fast and I'm too old to drive something with 1000 horsepower. The super car event is mostly open to the public for free....with some private events and charities doing dinners and such at some major car collections............so, the reason for this post.........most of the truck drivers hauling cars here unload out front and in our neighborhood...........so we get to see and hear some of the top shelf wheels and their owners........this was just unloaded about ten minutes ago.........I have no clue what series Fiat this is, except that it probably costs as much as a used 747.

Why do I have to sign in twice?
edinmass replied to NewOldWood's topic in Forum Questions and Answers
nope......I have to sign in two times every time.........is it an Apple thing? Been going on for about a month. -
I'm lucky I got a fantastic ride in it about 20 years ago............

They don't plan on ever running it again, because...."it's too valuable." Remember people running the museum are NOT car people, and not lovers of history. They are in it for the paycheck.......remember when the museum and village was free to enter? Now it's 75 bucks............so much for Crazy Henry's dream....look how screwed up the foundation is.....its pathetic.

So now you have a new semi accurate tool...........🥸

What interesting items have you found in an old car?
edinmass replied to 1932 plymouth pb sedan's topic in General Discussion
In 1992 I bought a 1931 Cadillac parts car......really a barn find parked in 1942. We found a box of Dutch Master Cigars in the side pocket.......and thought it would be fun to smoke them. It wasn’t. -
Nope.....that was a casting on a supercharged Auburn...........tripped over my own feet and dumped it on the floor, taking a chunk out of it...........you work on cars, and accidents do happen. Found the impossible casting and got everything fixed in less than a week..........rule number one is always do no harm. That was the first time in seven years I had to call an owner of a car and admit I had created an issue. At least it wasn’t carelessness in repairing the car.

Period images to relieve some of the stress

Ron......I agree......that’s why I called it a special-special. The probable side seat, spare in the rear taper tail, size and scale........all point to an interesting car. Steering wheel and controls make me think very high end...... -
Hands down, it’s the rarest fuel pump I have ever had in my hands.........

Yes! 👍

Took the Stearns for a ride today........ continuing to work on getting it sorted. It’s still going to be a slow process for a few more months with all the family issues happening. Slow but steady......AJ, you can’t have my Palm Beach topper..........

I would bet money that’s a fold out seat...........also, look at the spare tire peeking up on the back of the rear boat tail.......... -

I'm gonna go out on a limb.........C-3 Cunningham with a best guess Blue Ribbon Body done in NYC. I think it's a special-special. The steering wheel controls don't look like regular Cunningham, and that's going to be the clue that ID's the car.........neat photo, and I love a mystery. -
Jon, somewhere in all my paperwork, it lists the carburetor as “their own design”.
