  1. I agree it is too small on the inside. I still own my GT and I cant stand to drive it....Is that you in the photo, Its nice to see what everybody on the forum looks like Chuck Kerls
  2. what year Riv did that come out of, I thougth it might also be part of the factory CB option that was available in the 80s The tip of the antenna should also be different if it was the CB
  3. I was told that not removing the mats would most lilkely Not lead to a point ded. The owner would be requested to lift up the mats for the judge. So it has to be the correct mat and the judge should be able to see the carpet. Not having the correct or aftermarket mats would be a deduction. I would think that the chief judge at the meet would need to make a final decision. I regards to the judging manual being changed that would be a topic to bring up to the BOD next year at the National meet in NC. Chuck
  4. In the interest of getting the correct information out there, I have heard from Pete Phillips and his comments are the mats should be displayed out side the car so the judges can see the carpet inside, in the event that it is worn or stained. The mats would need to be the correct mats and wrong mats would be a deduction and no mats would also be a deduction.
  5. Hey Tom I have sent a note to Pete Phillips for a clearification on this item. Pete is the Judges training chairman for the BCA but the National Chief Judge is Alan Oldfield. If Pete says the mats should be removed from the Reatta the we need to look at changing the Judging guidelines that was printed in 2002 and posted on the Reatta web site. To my knowledge this has not come up before and we need to make sure that we are doing it the same way everytime at every meet Either way is fine with me Chuck Kerls
  6. I only wish I owned one of the cars from the ACD group. Even when I was a kid I never saw a Cord or Auburn and I lived in Kansas at the time. I dont think that we can compare one of those to the Reatta, but in 30 years, who knows, my grandkids might think I had great vision Chuck Kerls
  7. i agree with all of you guys, except I am not sure the Reatta will become a top dollar collectable. Looking at the past the following seems to hold. If a car was not popular when it was new then it most likely wont be popular when it is old. Thats why the Camaros, Chevelles, Mustangs, GTOs, 442s, and GSXs are sought after. There are a lot of cars from the 60s and 70s that are not collected in great quanties, When is the last time you saw a Maverick, Pinto, Elite etc. They are collected but not in great numbers and dont seem to hold their value as well. Time will be the best judge for the Reatta. Chuck Kerls booreatta@cox.net
  8. Ronnie I think that I will take the suggestion of Steve and just by pass the heater core. The car will never be winter driven and I dont see any reason to need the heater core. I did a heater core in a Fiero a couple of years ago and it was a bear to do. Had to pull the whole dash and I think the Reatta might be the same. They are not easy. Your site keeps getting better and better all the time. Thanks Now if I could get you to join the Reatta division and go to the nationals and help in our tech sessions, it would help those do not go to this site, and there are a lot of them. I appreciate what you do for the AACA site Chuck Booreatta@cox.net
  9. It is stricly a summer car and you are correct the heater core just needs to be bypassed. I did a heater core in my Fiero and boy was it a job, Sont want to do one of them again real PIA for sure. Thanks for the suggestion Chuck
  10. Marck I think in a lot of cases the floor mats should be removed as a lot of cars simply dont have replacement mats or they never had them when the car was new. in that case, remove the mats. When the mats were part of the car when new then they should be shown with the car and will be judged on correctness and conditon. In either case it is only worth a point or 2. Chuck
  11. Thanks guys I will check the heater core this weekend, does not sound like a lot of fun to get to. Chuck
  12. yes sorta like antifreeze but the levels are in good shape, didnt have to add anything and the smell was not under the hood. The no start was a sputter and die right away. The second was a start and lope like it was loaded up the third start cleared the fuel load. Sorry should have been more clear Chuck Kerls booreatta@cox.net
  13. According to the Reatta judgement manual at reatta.org does not say the mats have to be removed. As a matter of fact the mats are judged in the car for the correct mat for the correct year. The points are deducted for the wrong mats and the conditon of the correct mats. This information is on page 14 of the manual Chuck Kerls booreatta@cox.net
  14. I was driving down the road at 40 mph and I smelled something coming out of the AC duct. Smelled sorta of sweet. Car continued to run well. It is a hot day around 111 in the shade. Got home and everything was ok except the smell. Went out to put the car away and no start the first time. Waited a few min and it started and died. Tried to start a 3rd time and it was fine and now runs fine. Started the car a few hours later and everything seems normal. No codes. Any Ideas ? It is a 90 vert. All fluid levels seem normal Thanks Chuck Kerls
  15. You might want to also look at Grundy, it seemed to me that there were fewer hoops to jump thru. I have 4 cars with them, the Riviera, Reatta, Fiero, and the Mustang and my cost is $550.00 per year and I can drive anywhere and anytime and have 0 ded and towng to the nearest repair garage. Both the Riv and the Reatta are ins for agreed value of $15,000.00 each. But then I live in Kansas and rates seem to be less here than other parts of the country Chuck Kerls
  16. Hey guys I totally agree with Kingsley on this. I served notice to everyone that when statements were made on this site I would ask for names and places to verify the statements. I am again asking for information on anyone who has had a headlight switch that was repaired and to cause a fire issue to contact me as I am collecting data on several issues. When I talked to Mike he agreed with me that we need to put forward true facts. Its time to do that. I am sure that anyone who has had an issue would not want to hide a safety issue for everybody else. Lets step up and get this one solved Thanks Chuck Kerls booreatta@cox.net 316-655-1099
  17. Dave take some photos I have an 86 that has been sitting for about 10 years and I might start to restore it when I finish my Mustang. There are several parts I am going to need. Mostly trim like the belt line in black behind the rear wheels on both sides. Also any good sail windows on a GT. There was also a stubby antenna on the top of the car about 3 or 4 inches long. Any way take photos, might be a good source Thanks Chuck
  18. I can remember our first national and we didnt know what to expect. It would have been nice to have a local phone number for one of the host persons to get info when we arrived, most of the time just getting the lay of the land would help. Being newbees at the time we didnt have knowledge of the 400 point judging system ie how many points were gold, silver, bronze etc. We had to ask and that should be printed on the registration form somewhere. I know we felt like real idiots to have to find someone to ask. I am not the only one that thought that if they found 1 thing wrong then the whole car was wrong. We found Pete Phillips who by the way is responsible for us joining the BCA and he explained the judging process. We love to go to the nationals as time allows and we sure missed the one in Danvers. Chuck Kerls booreatta@cox.net
  19. Welcome as the new director of the Reatta Division. I had a good time and met many great people. Your the guy for the job. Good luck and If I can help, let me know. Sorry I couldnt get to Danvers but we will get to North Carolina Cheers Chuck Kerls
  20. Glad to see you guys made it home in good shape. Please post some more photos for us all to see. I see lots of familar faces in the photo posted. Try to stay cool as it is very hot here in Kansas 109 last Saturday. Challenge for the AC in the car Chuck Kerls
  21. Hi Frank I talked to the dealer and told him about the 75-76 issue and he told me the person that did the ad didnt know the correct year but it is a 75. The mileage is correct on the LeSabre. The mileage on the blue Reatta is not showing on the ipc and the dealer said they were working to find out the problem. I have asked for the asking prices for both of the cars and have not gotten an answer yet. I was also told that there were some more cars but the person I was talking to thought they were Pontiacs. I will continue to get as much info as I can Chuck Kerls booreatta@cox.net 316-655-1099
