  1. I've made the tool; GREAT tool. Even have the measurements as to where to pop.
  2. I should know this, but I'm getting old and forgetful. What's are the usual suspects when you don't have dash buttons and consol lights at night? 110v inverters? Photocell? Headlight switch? I thought the photocell was used for Twilight Sentinel, which the Reatta doesn't have.
  3. Actually placing the starter in the valley on the Northstar is a good idea. Little more work to get to, but at LEAST your not on the ground trying to remove it. Done many.
  4. Yup. Now if you go to the Men's Mall, you get all three components in your hand. Swaps out with the Magnavox unit with NO mods.
  5. I'm with Bikemikey; leave (or paint) them flat black.
  6. Back east, the issue you should be concerned about is not brake hoses, but the steel lines. I'm sure if your car was in Kingman most of its life (or there about), this wouldn't be an issue. I've never seen a ruptured brake hose; clogged or collapsed maybe, not ruptured. I've got a '97 Seville with a worn spot on the LR brake hose (rubbing on the tire) that I'll get around to one of these days. Been that way for two years.
  7. Not aware of issues with computers, but you might want to add the Teves brake system to your list. Price variance usually deals with condition, as with any car. OBD1 in these cars.
  8. Catalytic converter maybe. Not that it needs attention....
  9. Actually I lied. The car is a '93 Riviera. Hey, it's the same as a Reatta. Not. The HB is pressed on. The three threaded puller holes are hidden behind slots. I got it off. Interesting, the CPS isn't adjustable as in earlier 3800's. It's one solid assy; You just just bolt it on and reinstall the HB.
  10. '90 Reatta Is the HB a press-fit or slip-fit? Trying to replace a CPS and can't get the balancer off. I thought this year was a slip-fit. Havn't tried to pry...yet. I see no holes in the balancer to install a puller.
  11. Something in the back of my mind tells me there's a way (pressing two buttons) that gives you MUTE. Anybody know?
  12. I like the black accent moldings instead of body color; too monochromatic...but it's not my car...
  13. I prefer the black moldings ,vs.body color moldings. Too monochromatic.. But this kind of stuff is personal.
  14. Enhance the stereo? I think not. I'm an electronic tech, and I see no way to 'enhance' the radio. What does enhance mean? Where is this chip? In the ECM? BCM? Only way I see of 'enhancing the radio is with the tone/ equalizer controls.
  15. I don't see where a 1.5v. battery has any relevance in this discussion.
  16. I have NEVER replaced a thermostat as a routine maintenance.
  17. Back in the day, antifreeze used alcohol as the 'antifreeze'. It would often 'boil off' or vaporize over time...then came 'permanent antifreeze using glycol as the 'antifreeze'.
  18. I think he repaired a fuel line with a compression fitting. A 3/8 compression fitting is too big for the brake pipe.
  19. Need a right hand door mirror assy.
  20. That's me. Had 4 and sold 3. Still have a '91 that I should sell...just lost interest.
  21. I feel your pain. I had a beautiful '93 Riviera that was perfect, inside and outside; except for the underside. The whole underbelly was rotten. Brake pipes were replaced, air ride sensors dangled from their wires, as the mounts had rotted away, the suspension looked like it came off the Titanic.. Scrapping it was done to put it out of its misery. I've got a '07 Escalade that too has major rust issues in the engine bay and underneath. Trans cooler pipes rotten, exhaust manifolds rotten to the point of leaking, power steering pump rotten. Perfect body. Back in the day, rusted bodies were a big issue. Somehow they (GM) got that fixed with better steel coatings, but they didn't follow thru on the underbelly.
  22. Be aware, the Auto-Pro coolant dye ISN'T for cooling systems using Dex-cool, the GM coolant of choice in later GM vehicles. Something about it won't fluorese.
  23. Not sure 000 steel wool is the PREFERED steel wool. I've been told (and use) 0000... and used with a lubricate such as Varsol.
