  1. Interesting Ronnie; similar experience. 95° temps, A/C on, stop and go traffic. Now my engine temp was normal around 200° I've got a 180 stat.
  2. Yesterday, I had a weird experience with my '88 Reatta. Was heading down I-95 for a dinner date in Baltimore at rush hour When the beep of the CRT let me know there was low brake pressure. Both brake dash lamps (red and amber) were lit. I'm in bumper to bumper traffic on Boston st, with a 1/2 mile to go. There's no place to pull off. The brakes work fine. My anxiety goes sky high. I make it to the restaurant and ponder my next move over dinner. Come out and start up and the lamps glow for the usual 20 seconds and go out. No messages. I drive the 35 miles back home ; my eyes glued to the two dark lamps. No further issues. WTF?
  3. Worked great. I feel embarrassed not looking at Ronnie's site, because there it is. One of the BEST features of the Teves system; self bleeding brakes!
  4. What's the preferred method of bleeding rear brakes? I've just replaced a rotten rear line and attached my Myte-vac to the bleeder and little fluid comes out. The gauge shows PLEANTY of vacuum. ...something about running the pump and pressing the pedal...?
  5. The square tab at the end of the orifice should be pointing out. It's there so you can get a pair of needle nose pliers on it to pull it out.
  6. The diode is attached to the connector terminals. Not easy to get at, but no, you don't have to remove the clutch.
  7. 12:00 o'clock. Never higher.
  8. Could be the cat core (broken loose) rattling around inside the steel casing...
  9. Bare in mind that a locked up compressor won't side-line you IF the clutch is disengaged. The pulley bearing USUALLY won't seize. Just sayin'.
  10. As a sidebar, the newer (2000 &up),compressors are scroll compressors. No pistons!
  11. I think a couple reasons compressors don't last like the old A6 jobs is that there's no oil sump in the HR6 series, and the piston rings are made out of Teflon that tend to break easily.
  12. Compressor usually come with a new orifice tube AND O rings. I have rarely seen oil come out of a compressor. It is in suspension with the Freon. Not like the old A-6 compressor of old.
  13. I think the total oil content is 8oz. I put 2oz in the pressure side and 2 oz in the suction side. SLOWLY rotate back and forth the compressor shaft otherwise it'll puke on you. The rest (4 oz) goes in the accumulator, either port.
  14. I too got the same massage. Had to bumble around to find this site, which I hope is the same as the old, and not some scam...;)
  15. It's called 'aftermarket radio syndrome'. Hopefully enough of the original harness is available to restore OEM.
  16. Explain the difference. A HVAC vacuum leak WILL affect engine operation.
  17. I agree with Jim, but I usually also put in a new accumulator.
  18. Why did the dealer evacuate and recharge when the system was 'slightly low'? A simple gauge test would determine if the system needs Freon now. I hope 'they' add oil when the system is evacuated, and when 'topping off', from time to time oil MUST be added to replace that which leaks out with the Freon. See what the gauge test shows. Sounds like a small leak (they're the hardest to find) to me.
  19. Most GM's of the period used this method of battery hold-down.
  20. I did up two '86 Fiero's in polo green and another GM metallic green (don't remember the name) that had just a hint more yellow. Both beautiful, but the polo green looked just too blackish. The other with a hint of yellow looked better . That one had a 3800 with a 4T60 trans. Fast car. Sold both maybe a decade ago. Sorry I kept no pictures of either. The bustleback Seville is a love/hate kinda thing. I find it 'interesting'; my wife (who knows her cars) thinks it ugly.
  21. Is Speedway in Phoenix or Tucson?
  22. Code 41 is cam sensor. Most likely the magnet has disintegrated on the cam sprocket, not the sensor itself.
  23. First, pull codes. Together, press OFF and COOLER on the HVAC. Codes will then appear. Write them down. Note which are history (h) or current ©. There should be a prompt to CLEAR CODES. Press fan button up (increase speed).
