  1. Who's keeping the Reatta registry? I'd like to add (delete?) two cars that were scrapped today.
  2. Cut the blk/wht wire coming out of a two pin connector (c502 or 603) in the white plastic tray, middle of the door. Either door.
  3. Barney, the ring gear is on the PRESSURE plate, not the flywheel (corvair). Additional useless info; the ring gear is spot welded to the pressure plate (or torque converter) and these spotwelds would crack, making the ring gear wobble during starting, cracking the starter nose. However your description of loose flywheel rivets is spot on.
  4. Just bought two '89 red Reatta's for parts. Two passenger seats and one driver in very good condition. 16 way. Saddle. Pictures will be available Just as soon as I can take them. Pick-up only ( Maryland ) $50 ea.
  5. Corvani brings up a good point about the fans. If they don't come on in stop and go traffic, you will overheat. Turn on the A/C and at least one fan will come on (or should).
  6. Next suspect is a sticking thermostat.
  7. You may just have been low on coolant; probably didn't hurt anything. Keep an eye on it.
  8. Barney, are you talking about the VSS? It's on the passengers side near the CV joint.
  9. As to not starting, what do you mean? Does it crank and not fire?
  10. If the end has popped off the lever on the transmission, it can usually be snapped back on. But, it may pop off again. Simply wire it down.
  11. I was going to suggest you try a hydraulic shop that specializes in making up hoses, but you beat me. I've used these services to re-create a brake pressure hose with banjo fittings at either end on Allantes that often rupture. Beautiful work.
  12. I've just bought two '88s for parts. Good windshields. Something tells me you can't just remove these with a piano wire. Why and how?

    89 build

As mentioned, be VERY carefull what you remove. The car is TIED to its electronics; even the radio (in the trunk). A FSM IS required to do anything.
  14. How do you remove the three piece trim strips (run half way down the side of the car)? Rearward piece ~10" Door piece ~ 5' front 1/4 panel ~4"
  15. It could be that it won't come on because it's too COLD!
  16. The 'alleged' intermittent condition doesn't make sense.
  17. As Padget said, many a Fiero owner was into Corvair's, and I'm one of them. Had many of both. Still have three late models ('65-'66) I even installed the whole 3.8 powertrain from a '86 Park Ave in a '87 Fiero. That car was FAST.
  18. I too agree this is unheard of. Well, not really. I worked on a Fiero that had the entire steering column replaced due to the original butchered from theft. Someone didn't tighten the pinch bolt at the base of the column. The two sections of the column held together for a week, then the lower half slipped out of the coupling. Free wheeling steering wheel. Fortunately this occurred in a parking lot. Scary thought.
  19. I've got a spoiler off of a '98 Eldorado. GM never offered a spoiler on an Eldo, this was somebodies idea of gilding the lily. I've removed it because it wasn't 'me', and also thinking it was a Fiero spoiler and they bring a few bucks. It's not a fiero spoiler from the measurements, but sure looks like one. If anybody's interested in it, I can shoot some pictures and dimensions. Cheap...
  20. If it's the plug-in type (and I think it is), I've got good (tested)used ones for $10 post paid.
  21. VSS is on the transaxle , passengers side, right near where the 1/2 shaft comes out.
  22. I thought the Fiero a GREAT car! But then I went only for the 2.8 version. Had maybe 7 back in the day. The only thing I didn't like about them was the 10 gallon fuel tank.
  23. When you say 'diagram', do you mean the schematic, or the usage?
