  1. The Delco unit shown has Theftloc. How do you get the radio to work?
  2. In post #14, he mentions that turning the ignition off, kills the blower. That tells me it's not the blower module.
  3. Disc brake dust on cast wheels is the bane of all car lovers...especially Reatta wheels with the rough surfaces between the five spokes. I've found a tool that makes removing this caked on dust almost a pleasure (I said 'almost'). Sonic Scrubber is a battery powered brush similar to an electric toothbrush, but with more torque. Use your favorite spray on wheel cleaner with this device, and watch the black caked on dust disappear. Available at Walmart , Amazon for about $10.
  4. Isn't that shaft hardened steel. If so, you're not going to drill it or cut it
  5. Yes, this is a common leak source for GM in that time period. I've replaced maybe 5. It is not a fun job. Very labor intensive. Comes out thru the engine compartment.
  6. Two different blower models. Bare in mind that C1 (the two pin connector) only uses one pin (of the two). There are two versions of this blower module; one with one pin, and one with two pins. Either will work in the Reatta. I've seen both versions in Buicks and Cadillacs. Looking at schematics of both brands, I see no use for the second pin. As for the four pin connector, only three pins are used.
  7. It also maybe the lockout cable from the ignition switch to the consol shifter
  8. Adaptive speed control. Once you've experienced it, I can't believe how nice it is.
  9. It may just be a misadjusted brake switch.
  10. Um, exempting pre-1994 vehicles!
  11. Come to Maryland. Historic registration starts at 20 years with no emissions. No safety inspections on ANY car unless it's bought or sold.
  12. Does Indiana exempt old farts from emission testing? In Maryland, if you're 70 or older, you get a waiver. I'll never darken their door again.
  13. The four note Cadillac horns are A,C,D,and F. There is no E note, I don't think. I just pulled a set off an '98 DeVille this afternoon. The A note horn was dead. I will often pull Caddy and Buick horns, especially if they're four note. The regular horn setup for GM (with that good old fashioned GM horn sound) are A and F note, but almost always the A note horn is shot. The F note never is. Why? BTW, what is the trim tag code for four note?
  14. Why is this post still called 1990 instrument cluster?
  15. Below the coils are the electronic drivers for the coils...ICM. Crank sensor also controls these drivers, but as a test, swapping out an ICM is a lot easier than a CPS (not to be confused with the CPS under the dash).
  16. Your test only shows the coil secondary's are not open. Won't show shorted turns or internal arcing. The real issue maybe in the triggering electronics below the coils. I know of no way to test these modules, short of direct substitution. Maybe some of my fellow list members has a better idea.
  17. What's the story on the 'green goo'? Isn't it supposed to be in/on the electronic portion of the ICM? Isn't it a dielectric heat compound?...and why/ how does it 'leak' indicating a module failure?
  18. A code 41 shouldn't cause a miss. Replacing the magnet by removing the front cover is a PITA; do it like the rest of us, glued in thru the sensor hole.
  19. It looks like the ignition switch/trans shifter lockout. It's an anti-theft aid. Unless you're paranoid, or live in a bad neighborhood, I'd leave it alone. I assume you can shift gears with the ignition off? Could be the PO had problems with the interface, and disconnected it.
  20. Sounds like a bad fuel filter or a bad crankshaft sensor. Neither one will set a code.
  21. Removing the lock tumbler? One Torx screw holds it in.
  22. I'm not quite clear what's happening here. When you press the AUTO button, what happens? Does the little orange light lite up? Does the air flow come out the dash vents? Floor? What happens when you press HEATER? Air out the dash vents? Floor?
