  1. Many years ago, I was into Fiero's. REALLY into them. My ex-wife (we're on speakng terms) also had a Fiero 6 cyl. She had taken it to a independent repair shop for a no-start, but she called me in a panic that the shop told her there was serious enigine issues, and she was to have it towed to the dealer for repair; could I help? I went to the origional shop who still had the car. It was running on three cylinders. Knowing there were TWO injector fuses (one for each bank), I checked and sure enough, one was blown. Apparently they were probing wiring to find the no-start, and shorted out the injector circuit. Replaced the 10 amp fuse, and it ran sweet. The shop had no comment.
  2. Are the Delco's interchangeable with the magnavox units, connector-wise? I thought they were, but have to ask.
  3. This is the practice at the yard I deal with; aluminum wheels are pulled first, rubber broken down, and the rim stacked for recycle. Almost as soon as the car arrives at the yard.
  4. I have a neutral safety switch (the one that goes on the tranny shifter shaft) with a vacuum port on it. Not sure what vehicle it came out of, but had to be a Reatta or a Cadillac.
  5. What's the correct length of the wiper blade? 18 or 19"?
  6. HVAC controller is a common failure component that will drain a battery in short order.
  7. If the pump runs, the relay is probably fine.
  8. Readings at 12 o'clock are normal.
  9. Yes, driver's side. As you turn right, the load increases on the LEFT bearing, INCREASING the noise on the left bearing. Extra weight doesn't quiet the noise, it increases it.
  10. Yes, there are two sensors, and the one on the pan is the LEVEL one. The pressure switch is to the left of the water pump, just above the CV joint.
  11. Often when a car has had the title lost, and the last owner can't be found, you can get a salvage title from the DMV. Doesn't mean it was wrecked, just the paper trail got broken. I've bought many a car that had passed thru many hands before me, and there was no title, and the car wasn't stolen. It's expensive; the state police get involved, but in the end, you get a title, but its marked SALVAGE.
  12. WOW; wasn't expecting that! Why were we targeted?
  13. A fusable link looks just like a wire, except it isn't vinyl; it's more rubbery and about 1/8" in dia. It has a thin conductor that will open (blow) as if it were a regular fuse. There is usually no external evidence. McReatta gave the best description of their location.
  14. Any time I see a sticking caliper, I suspect the rubber brake line collapsing internally. It happens more than you might think. Change the hoses.
  15. Do NOT put mouse poison in your car...like I did. They eat it and die in places you can't reach. I had two die in my wife's Riv, one under the dash, and one under the rear package shelf. The stench is horrible. Use traps or glue strips.
  16. With the rust I see, check the brake lines, especially the one's just forward of the LR tire. The mileage is stored in the BCM, not the IPC.
  17. You just UNBOLT the HVAC controller. I think there's enough slack in the cable to let it dangle.
  18. Replacing the compressor is easier if you remove the fans, radiator, and condenser.
