  1. John, I'm sending you a private message regarding this.
  2. Thank you, lancemb! Yes, I noticed the paint code as well, indicating a solid color. Oddly, the listing indicates that the car was repainted in its original colors. Clearly, this was not the case, although it is conceivable that the original owner had the two toning completed when the car was new. Like you, I also require that a car's original color combination be preserved.
  3. buick man and lancemb, I appreciate your expertise on the 1957 Buicks. What are your thoughts on this currently listed Roadmaster 75? http://www.ebay.com/itm/232342582694?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  4. Just returned from a 700-mile three-day cruise with the "Cars of the Jet Age" group. Our silver '59 Electra is shown here with a few of the other cars at a retired Atlas Missile silo from the early 1960's. We were in a rural area of Washington state.
  5. The Boeing 707, which was the basis for the retired Air Force One behind the 1959 Buicks, flew the first commercial service with Pan American during October, 1958. The '59 Buicks were newly-arrived on the showroom floors, so the cars and the 707 are contemporaries.
  6. I love this car. The only Buick Sedanette with both portholes and sweepspears!
  7. There will be two body styles offered:
  8. Gary, I have a friend who is unable to log in here, but he wanted me to let you know that he has a trunk lid. His name is Jeff and he can be reached at 406-242-0099.
  9. Amazing 1/6-scale 1954 Buick Skylarks, hand-crafted by a Texas architect who builds these on the side. He spends $1,800 on the chrome-plating for each car. The models are priced at $12,000 each.
  10. To clarify, the black 1957 Buick in one of the photos above is a photoshop creation and not a car that was actually built.
  11. I have examined this car at a couple of local events during the fall, and it is indeed an exceptional original car. This one is finished in my favorite color scheme for the '57 Buicks, and, if I were in a position to add another car, I would be all over this one. This is one beautiful Buick.
  12. Absolutely! The engine's lineage dates all the way back to the first Buick V6 in 1962. And I credit this engine with preserving General Motors' passenger car business through the 1990's and into the 21st Century. In view of some of the troubled engines that GM was producing during the 1980's and 1990's, the 3800 was the one shining star. And it was always built at Buick City in Flint.
  13. These cars are excellent values! Although they may require the lower intake manifold gasket replacement sometime in the 70,000 - to - 80,000-mile range, this is usually a one-time repair with the improved aftermarket gasket. For the initial purchase price, these cars are tough to beat! My 21-year old twin daughters drive a '95 LeSabre and a '99 Regal. My wife drives a 2005 LeSabre and I drive a '96 Riviera. All four cars are powered by the great Buick 3800 V6. I love these cars.
  14. Thank you to all who have replied. I have located two of the 1959 Triple Turbine cores, so should be good to go! I appreciate the help I've received here.
  15. 2carb40, the 1958 Flight Pitch will also work, but there are some visible external differences, and the rebuilder would prefer to reserve the '58 cores for those wishing to complete accurate restorations of their '58 Buicks.
  16. My wife and I have enjoyed many thousands of miles of pleasurable motoring in the '59 Electra, but it's time for some major servicing in preparation for the years ahead. Along with the torque ball seal and the rope seal at the rear of the engine, it's time to address the Triple Turbine transmission, which has begun to slip. I've been assured that the condition will only worsen. I've spoken with the Buick Club's expert rebuilder of the Flight Pitch / Triple Turbine transmissions, and the plan is to locate a rebuildable 1959 Triple Turbine core, then ship to him for a rebuild. This will allow us to quickly replace the existing 3T rather than tie up the repair shop while we wait for my transmission to be rebuilt. So, will anyone here sell me a complete, rebuildable '59 Triple Turbine and have it shipped to Ohio for me? All leads are welcome. Please send me an e-mail me directly at: brianL@americanconstco.com Thanks in advance for your help.
  17. Jim, I have a Cadillac friend who is interested in these tires! I'll send you a PM, but please send me an e-mail at: brianL@americanconstco.com
  18. My understanding is that the Enclave will remain a larger vehicle, and, when it is fully redesigned, it will be built on a larger platform than the new GMC Acadia.
  19. But where's the Buick here? I'm not seeing it. Same with the photo showing the Pontiacs on the auto transporter.
  20. I have been thoroughly enjoying this account, and have shared the link with some friends, including Gary Klecka, BCA #1955. Gary has driven his all-original '49 Super coast-to-coast attending Buick National Meets during the last few years, and, last Friday, he e-mailed me this image of his '49 Super at the same restored Texaco station in Dwight, Illinois.
  21. I'm enjoying seeing everyone's great photos here! I tend to do a poor job of capturing photos at these kinds of events, since there are so many superb cars and wonderful people to distract me. I do have an album of the shots I took, in case you'd like to look. Click on any photo to enlarge: https://www.flickr.com/photos/76938221@N05/albums/72157671876555926
  22. This was among the finest automotive events that I've ever attended. During the course of the meet, I kept saying to myself that I could not imagine having missed this. The location and organization were first-class in every respect. Is there any means by which we can send personal thank you notes to Mr. Bulgari? I'd love to thank him for his great generosity to our club.
  23. A superb meet in every respect! The facility and organization were outstanding, and everyone I spoke with enjoyed a wonderful time.
