  1. Returning from the 2009 BCA Nationals, in Eastern Oregon:
  2. Not a vintage image here, but perhaps it fits the topic!
  3. Very interesting that this car has only a single sidemount. I thought that the sidemount option was always a dual sidemount option on the '38 Specials. EDIT: Just noticed that the sidemount fender is present in the top photo; only the sidemount spare is missing. So, it was originally a dual sidemount car.
  4. The car is a Special -- not a Roadmaster.
  5. I agree that this would be a fantastic car when completed! Here's another Invicta Estate Wagon. It's a '59, offered in British Columbia, Canada. While lacking the bright upper window frame moldings, it is equipped with power windows and Autronic Eye. And the factory color appears to be beautiful Tawny Rose. https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/pml/cto/d/1959-buick-invicta-wagon/6676557349.html
  6. A friend captured a better photo of the instrument panel of my 1959 Electra.
  7. This was true for both 1959 and 1960. Here is a 1960 Invicta Estate Wagon. (This one happens to be an Invicta Custom with the leather bucket seat interior.) Note the bright stainless trim along the roof rail.
  8. Wolfstar, I have owned two 1965 Buick Wildcat 2-door hardtops. There were three different model numbers produced, with the difference among them being the interior trim: 6237 - Wildcat 6437 - Wildcat Deluxe 6637 - Wildcat Custom Your car is the Wildcat Deluxe, with an interior that was the same as that of a LeSabre Custom. Your car does have the bucket seat option, which was not particularly common on the Wildcat Deluxe. The car is equipped with the short, non-operating console. The console style is often referred to as the "ironing board" console, and was phased out during the course of the 1965 model. As others have said, no Wildcat GS was offered or built for the 1965 model year. Regardless, your car is beautiful. I love it.
  9. We had a professional photographer along for our recent thousand mile cruise to my old hometown in Eastern Oregon, and here are some of my favorite Buick images from the weekend: 1) and 2): My '59 Electra 3): John Courter's '56 Century at the Eltrym Theater (Eltrym = Myrtle spelled backwards. Mytrle was the first owner's wife's name.) 4): Roger Bourml's '64 Riviera near the Old Oregon Trail, on his return trip from the BCA Nationals in Denver 5): Chuck & Karla Russell's '53 Special and John Courter's '56 Century at the Baker Garage -- 105-yr. old Buick dealership
  10. Fantastic, Tom! Looking forward to hearing about your ownership of this great Buick!
  11. This fine Buick has been sold. Congratulations to the new owner!
  12. Just to clarify, this is a running / driving car.
  13. "Covert" is tan or Sandalwood. The car's interior is original.
  14. John, the car is original, so this is how it was finished from the factory.
  15. 1972 Buick Electra 225 Custom Limited coupe For Sale by member of the Buick Club of America. Located in the Columbus, Ohio area. This is not my car and I am not a dealer. Fire Red with black vinyl roof and Sandalwood Limited interior trim in Kismet Cloth and Madrid Grain Vinyl. Rust-free original car with about 48,500 miles on the odometer. Heavily optioned with A/C, 60/40 seats with 6-way power on both sides, factory dual exhausts, automatic level control, tilt, cruise, power windows, power door locks, AM/FM Stereo with tape, etc. A two-page listing of the options is included in the images here. Nearly 38,000 '72 Electra 225 Custom coupes were built for '72, and only 493 were built in Fire Red. The car is fully documented, including name and address of the original selling dealership, the original buyer, and the date of delivery to the original buyer. The asking price is $4,500 or best offer. The car runs and drives, but has not been driven regularly for several years, so it will require mechanical attention. A mouse had chewed on the wiring harness in the engine compartment. A portion of this has been reconnected, but the owner has lacked time to work on it further. The owner's goal is to sell the car at a very reasonable price, allowing a serious buyer to address any remaining mechanical / electrical issues and get this car back into service. I think that this is a remarkable opportunity, and urge any members seeking an Electra 225 of this period to carefully consider this car. If you are a serious buyer, please send me a private message, and I will place you in contact with the seller, who is a very credible Buick enthusiast.
  16. You might point out to the hotel that it is less than 365 days in advance! The meet is in June. Perhaps the hotel was thinking that you said "July".
  17. Absolutely! I love the silky smooth Triple Turbine!
  18. Fantastic, Tom, and congratulations! Your articles were excellent, and I'm thankful that you have received this recognition.
  19. Have just returned from a thousand mile 4-day cruise in the 1959 Buick Electra, leading ten friends on a driving tour to my old Oregon hometown. I loved every moment of our time on the road.
  20. Fantastic photos! Thank you so much for posting the link.
  21. Thanks for giving me a sense of urgency. I've just made my reservation.
  22. I was excited to see the fine article about Brian's car and restoration effort in the newly arrived issue, and look forward to seeing the continuation of the story next month. https://www.hemmings.com/magazine/hcc/2018/08/Roadmaster-Reborn---1938-Roadmaster-Sport-Phaeton/3751905.html I love it when we all have opportunity to see these majestic Buicks featured in the national automotive publications.
  23. Reviews of the Regal TourX have been generally positive. GM has some great products, but the company consistently fails in its marketing. Industry analysts have been writing for years that it is inexcusable for General Motors to lack a Chief Marketing Officer. The absence of proper marketing limits the ability of cars like the TourX to succeed in the marketplace.
