  1. I was going to suggest getting two of the pullers, so you can put five legs on one puller, but, your car has 6 lugs, so it is already pulling evenly using three lugs. On 5 lug drums, using three legs on a puller seems unbalanced, so I got two similar pullers and can use 5 legs if needed. Probably just overthinking it as usual.πŸ˜„
  2. Keep at it.... Time Time Time What size hammer? 2 1/2lb is minimum. 5 better. Sledge can be up to 10 pounds.....πŸ˜‰ DO make sure the car is steady, no need to hit the puller and knock the car off the jackstands...😳 I don't see any mushrooming of the dogbone yet, so HIT IT!πŸ‘
  3. This usually puts gasoline into the crankcase. Not what you seem to have. Loose check valves stops pumping without leaking fuel anywhere (internal or external). I know loose check valves are an issue on new Corvair fuel pumps (for several years now). Lucky, those are screwed together, so one can open them up, re-stake the valves, and continue using them. All the pumps assembled with crimp edged are hard to open and even harder to reassemble!😲
  4. Wrap it tight with masking tape before using the cutoff wheel.
  5. IOT is here. Internet Of Things. The city of Richmond starting converting gas meters to remote read in the early 80s. Most of the older meters at that time were inside, in basements, etc. Too much liability for the city. The meter readers had RINGS of keys that fit doors on their route. Surprising to me was how many were those Skeleton keys!
  6. Virginia got rid of the Notary Public requirement yeeeaaaars ago. No bill of sale needed between private parties, but, it IS required if you bought the car from a licensed dealer (new/used).
  7. Same in Virginia. Most titles have several sections for re-assigment by dealers.
  8. Don't forget, two muisc stations still on the nighttime air are 650 WSM, if country music is your taste. They have been at it since 1925, the Grand Ole Opry. And Toronto on 740 is now Boomer radio, fits most of us on here....πŸ˜† I grew up listening to AM radio in the car, so I LIKE it when the music fades/crackles/changes phase. Crystal clear sound in a car is SO unatural for anything before 1965.🀣
  9. Not sure what you mean. I am guessing a 2 foot long breaker bar. A Johnson Bar is a brand name of a pole with two wheels for moving stuff around on the floor: https://www.mcmaster.com/johnson-bars/ https://kk.org/cooltools/johnson-bar-or/
  10. Don't know what you wrote first, but I learned the term cotter KEY as a young lad. I do call them Cotter Pins these days. I have not yet adpoted the term Split Pin.πŸ˜‰
  11. Rust never sleeps. Oh that should be Rust Never Sleeps (a Neil Young/ Crazy Horse album). But, in some cases I have managed it with Miracle Paint, POR-15, etc. I know Tiger Hair and love it (got some in the 94 Caprice wagon). Not talking 100% show cars here, but drivers. On other cars (even the Chevette) I have cut out the damage and welded in patches. Just depends. ALL structural rust gets cut out and replaced.
  12. Sure fire method to keep them from nesting in a glove box. Remove the glove box.πŸ˜‰ The door has to stay closed to keep the light out on higher end cars. Keeping it open does help, removing the interior box works everytime. I didn't say it was convienient....πŸ˜†
  13. I've seen it in person, at an artist's* shop who was putting the body back together for Joe Bortz. In the 2010s he was able to find a few parts still hanging around (as in hanging on the wall) of the wrecking yard (Warhoops) that "destroyed" it for GM. * waaayyy to good to call him a body man.πŸ˜‰ He built a replica Pontiac Club de Mer. Most every internet picture of the Club de Mer is his replica!
  14. As opposed to other high current devices? They can guess, but they do not know. I get a report from my power company about my useage. It says how much they attribute to water heating. Great, as I have propane tankless.....πŸ˜† That circuit board does not pull that much current! And I use my electric oven running overnight to dehydrate stuff or cook brisket (after smoking of courseπŸ‘) or cook greens (takes 12+ hours low and slow for collards to break down the pork fat). I'm sure the overnight cooking upsets their algorithm. Ours already are (emissions testing stops at 25 years old for those northern counties/cities that have it).
  15. Yes, but when you get the GM glove box lock apart, usually (but, not always...😑) the key code is stamped on the cylinder, so a 6 cut key can be cut, even though the glove box lock only has 4 or 5 tumblers. I do not know Packard locks either. I hope to someday...πŸ‘
  16. Well, that would depend on the source of energy, right?πŸ˜‰
  17. Well worth a visit to that You tube site, funny!!! You can start right at 11foot8.com Liked those? Then see 11 foot 8's evil little brother too.
  18. You have been out of Corvairs way to long. It is waaayyyy more complete than most I see people buy. It is 54 years old! No wonder the dash is cracked. All I see missing, besides body steel😁, is a brake pedal rubber pad, left carburetor choke pull off, proper spark plug wires, license plate nylon nut and cigarette lighter (which is usually missing now as people plug a cell phone charger into that jack). Spare tire, sure, but probably in the trunk, another common location unless used to travel and need the luggage space. Notable things right, NO rubber hose has appeared in the engine compartment. I see that crap in 75% of the Corvairs for sale. Even has all the wheel well molding, usually missing pieces since they don't fit poor bodywork....πŸ˜‰
  19. Sorry about what? I was comparing relative stock setups, i.e. 110 to 110. Of course the 140 is more horsepower, its right there in the number. And the 180 will outrun the 140 at top end. πŸ˜‰ unless you put a nice size turbo on the 140.......🀣 3.89:1 was not a stock ratio for 140. That was purpose built from early parts for autocrossing. So was running A70-13 tires. Not much width, but small diameter. Saw those a lot in the early 80s at the course.
  20. They are the British manuals.🀣 Wash parts in Paraffin.πŸ‘
  21. No way. Best as a driver!πŸ‘ Just not a $6500 driver. Out where you live, yes. Around here, no. That's why I said in the $6500 range shipping a west coast car east is worth looking into. And what's up with the weird cable hooked to where the choke pull off is missing on the left carburetor????? Those lousy non (air) sealing spark plug wires need to be replaced with a good set from Seth Emerson at Silicone Wire Systems.πŸ‘ Leaking air at the spark plug boots robs cooling air from the engine, causing overheating. In the Corvair world, this is no issue. Lots of times it is because the person could not find 13" tires, so 14" + wheels get installed. That 110 Powerglide can power through any size wheel you can put on it. 15, 17 common now. Standard 5 on 4.75 pattern. My daughter runs 15" S-10 wheels on her 110 Powerglide. Yes, 110 needs the highest octane fuel in your area, especially with the Powerglide. Powerglide's have 3.55:1 rears typically, so they accelerate as well as the manuals (that came with 3.27:1 usually). If a Powerglide is slow, tune the engine!πŸ˜‰ Buying this car means you will learn rust repair!😲 You will not find anyone to repair this at a reasonable cost. And, I see bubbles at the lower panels also.
  22. This has to be a misprint. I know EPA figures (37) and real life do not always agree, but 28 MPG difference?πŸ€” That little 4 cylinder engine would have to be pouring fuel on the road to be that poor.😲
  23. Got to quit looking up things on my small phone.....😁
  24. You had the fancy upscale version!πŸ˜„
