  1. I think Evan installed a Bendtsen Adapter Kit to make the transition to the Hydramatic.
  2. Well i have another thing listed, which i don`t see on anyone else, "0 warning points", what`s that about? Did i say something i shouldn`t have, hurt someones feelings? I did have a posting disappear down the rabbit hole a while back.
  3. I thought that was against the law..
  4. I got a notice from a newby, Roys01, has 16 posts, all referring members to email , ben at benphilip156@gmail.com Just doesn`t sound right to me.
  5. Not sure if that`s the part number, but that`s the same number as my original 233 rocker assembly, they`re like left/right. The other number is 1292335, there is 8 of each, on the assembly. My `38 248 rocker assembly, rockers are numbered 40 and 41, no other markings at all. To me both assemblies look the same except the `38 assembly has aluminum towers.
  6. I doubt you`ll find a new shaft. There may be a place that can rebuild yours. The 248 rocker assembly may be the same as the 233, except the 248 has aluminum towers and weighs about 7 lbs less than the 233 rocker assembly. You could check with Dave Tacheny(parts out 36-40 Buicks)he could tell you what would interchange, and he might have a new shaft/parts. 763 427 3460 m-f 4-7pm central time
  7. Looking for tail light lens(not the side lens). Any help? No part number.
  8. Can you verify that the new accelerator pump is working? Has the car set without running for a period of time? Ever have Ethanol gas in it? Could possibly be distributor, if carb checks out OK, vac. adv., or sticking breaker plate can cause hesitation.
  9. On the clutch.. say starting off in first gear, when releasing the pedal from being pressed to the floor, how far do you raise the pedal before clutch starts engaging. If midway, or to the top of travel, needs adjustment. As the disc wears, the fingers rise. If it hasn`t ever been adjusted, the fingers of the pressure plate are probably riding continously against the throw-out bearing, even after complete release(BOO!). This could be the root of the grind. Once adjusted, the PP fingers and the throw-out bearing, should not be touching in the released position. Also check all your pedal linkage/pivots for slop/wear, and give the zerks a shot of grease. Good luck.
  10. Looks like a `36 233 or `37 248. Probably `37, no oiler tube to feed the throw out bearing.
  11. I agree 1947 probably a Fleetmaster, 1942 and 1946 are similar, front grilles are different, 1948 is same as 1947, but has a vertical center piece.. Skirts are most likely aftermarket item.
  12. Try to find an original Delco cap, firing order numbers are on it, aftermarket caps don`t. The other thing that causes problems is the breaker plate pivots, 3 ball bearings. Groove in distributor housing gets worn/dirty and binds up movement for the vac. advance to operate smoothly.
  13. Throttle cable, dosen`t actually hook up to the carb, it attaches to the throttle linkage. The pivotal piece at the side of the engine block(dr side by #8). There is two little arms pointing forward that have little holes, one is for linkage return spring(downward pull), the other is for the throttle cable(upward pull). I`ll add a picture later. Sorry, but camera died..
  14. Looking for tail light lens(not the side lens). Any help? No part number.
  15. Seller dropped price to $800, get on down to around $500-$600 i`d be interested.
  16. Isn`t the series model stated on the front louver of each hood side panel?
  17. Looks to be running on the front carb only. No fuel line to rear carb.
  18. I`d say remove the cluster. On the `36 the gauge needle slip in between 2 pieces of glass, it`s kind of a trick getting the needle between the 2 when installing a gauge, needle can be bent/damaged very easily.
  19. Here is a picture of my `36 40 series rear shock and link. You`ll need to make a grommet for the shock arm hole, you want zero slack.
  20. Checking for the length of front and rear bumpers of a `38 Buick Special. Also are the Special and Century bumpers the same?
  21. Yes, it can be quite a task, that`s why a lot of people just live with it and the 2x4. It`s not so bad when the door panels are off.
