  1. Your friend is incorrect about the vin plate that is held on by screws. Many Buicks, including three 47' convertibles that have been in my posession and a 47' sedanette had them held on with the same screws. My 48' convertible is riveted. Still yet, wonderful car! 2. While you may be looking for "information", you will find that many of us are very passionate about keeping the cars as close to original as possible. Sure some will say that it is yours and you can do as you wish, but if maintained, one of these cars will cruise just fine down the road, with enough stopping power as originally built. You can talk to any old street rodder or know it all and the first thing they tell you to do is change to 12v and put disc brakes all around. A six volt system will work wonderfully when maintained. If you don't maintain a 12v car, it won't work well either. Are you wanting to drive this car ever? I am doing a frame off on a convertible. I also work a full time job and have a wife and children. I have well into 4 years and am just getting ready to finish paint and reassemble. Why not make it start and stop, enjoy it for awhile and work on little things while learning about your car? Then later, you can consider a full frame off. We see too many cars get torn apart for rebuild, only to have the owner lose interest and junk the car. There are shops that specialize in dynaflow transmissions and various engine rebuilders that can still do the inline 8. I hope I haven't offended as I know Pete didn't mean to either. Otherwise. Here to help and look forward to your progress Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Ordered a new trunk lid seal from Steele and installed tonight. About an hour job all together with removal of the old, cleaning the mounting surface of old seal and adhesive and installing the new seal. Worked out great! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Your only issue is going to be transport of the item. A whole chassis can be had for $500.00, but shipping is a killer. Selling it locally is your best bet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Are you saying that the linkage will not move into the reverse position, or the transmission has no reverse when in the selected "reverse" position?
  8. Hey Mike, what did you ever do with the 47' woodie pickup? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I ordered a rebuild kit from Apple hydraulics. Not only do they rebuild these, they will also sell you a kit for us do-it-yourselfers! Was under a hundred bucks with shipping. The kits at this moment have the two seals, springs, snap ring and freeze plug. My plunger shaft was ok, but later this year, their kit will include the shaft also. A tip for rebuilders, before assembly of the bottom section to the top, fill the bottom reservoir with brake fluid. Makes bleeding easier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Copper scrubbing pad and CLR works better with less scrubbing. (Calcium, Lime, Rust) Remover. Then with a nice chrome polish and a good wax.
  11. Good luck in your search and hope you find the car of your dreams! I know I have!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. At a cruizin' tonight parked 4 cars down from my 56' Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Last night was test drive for the brakes. I always get nervous even though I checked and rechecked everything when it comes to stopping. Here's a pic of the same place I took one last fall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Looking for a diagram if I could get a copy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. If I still have my 56' when Allentown rolls around, It will be there also to make your two cars look better! Wifey or a friend will have to drive it because I plan on having the 47' convertible done by then! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Master cylinder installed tonight and bled the brakes. Nice pedal again. No test drive as had to repair a couple lawnmowers for neighbors. I hate ethanol! Also washed the car after started getting dark and waxed the top. I'm tired out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Your engine was not designed for high octane gas. There os a calculation for that and it is evading me at the moment. I put some Marvel Mystery in the gas every time I fill up and have had no worries. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Got the kit in the mail today. Put the unit back together with the new parts/seals and bench bled it. Now it waits until tomorrow to be installed again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Glad she's back in tip-top shape. Ready for some heavy duty cruzin'! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Very nice! Glad you were able to find a car, finally. Good luck and hope to see you soon! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I have pretty much sanded my fingerprints off at this point. But, I am almost done sanding. A few more interior parts and then I can move forward. Been putting in a lot of long hours working on this and my 56'. Getting closer to repaint is like seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Will soon be bringing the 48' convertible home from storage to prepare for the rust repair and see if I can get the engine freed up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I had to park the car last week because my master cylinder started to fail. I have it off the car and apart and have been searching aimlessly for seals. I really did NOT want to pay $450.00 for it to be rebuilt. I managed to get seals for it ordered today and hope to have it back together by Thursday next week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. When you checked the timing marks, did you find TDC on #1 and make sure the rotor under the distributor is at plug 1? It sounds as if it is just off one plug wire..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I salute you all! The ultimate price was paid by many and many are still ready to pay the ultimate price. God Bless all of us and our Country and Families! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I would think that there are some that do. But, seeing that this is a holiday weekend, most are busy. You might post farther down in the ford model t section also. Matt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
