  1. Saturday morning the Woodworker magazine will video and interview me for the third upcoming ADVENTURES IN WOOD contest. My large scale model required over 1100 hours, and took 11+ months. Built from scratch, walnut and copper without any plans, drawings, not a kit, I wing all my art pieces. I never build more than one of any piece. Last year I was lucky enough to win my class, and best of show. It's a juried show, If someone would be so kind as to post pictures for me, I would be most THANKFUL. I would need an E-address. It's a 1/5th scale, 30" long, solid walnut and copper, powered by Buick Straight Eight, honoring my father that was with Buick for nearly 60 years. I like large scale models, they stand so PROUD. 2. B4 we know it, it will be running. As a kid I always LOVED the sound of a Straight Eight with a gutted muffler. We would run up the RPM's in 1st. or 2nd, then let off, and hear the roar. Keep on keeping on Ben, Dale in Indy
  3. Ben, will that tool REMOVE a VISOR, just wondering? OH how I love dim dare visors. Dale in indy
  4. OH, you poor fellow, having to drive one car out from below to lower the one on top. I feel SOOOOOOOOOO bad for YOU, hehe. Dale in Indy
  5. There are very FEW car guys as active as YOU, and as HELPFUL. Good for you, Dale in Indy
  6. Copper coat is a copper colored sticky compound, if I remember correct. When heated from the compression it forms a good seal, am I right Old-tank? I believe I bought in spray can too. Dale in Indy
  7. Well, this will be GOOD one to follow. Are you going to DUAL CARB it? At such a young age, YOU will do just fine. I will be a nice guy, and not kid you so hard, Dale in Indy
  8. A cashiers check can have STOP PAYMENT order placed on it, just like a regular check. Also the cashiers check can be accepted by YOUR bank, and funds deposited in YOUR account, then if the check is FAKE, or a STOP PAYMENT order is put in action, YOUR bank will withdraw payment from your account. That can happen during several days. Ask your bank for help, sometimes they will contact the bank the cashiers check is drawn on to verify the funds are there, and put a lock on such if it is good. I purchased an item for $42,000.00 but the seller took my check to his bank, they called my bank, and put a hold on that amount, and that took away my right to STOP PAYMENT, of course I was ok with that. 9. Maybe it's one of those SPECIAL, SUPER, ROADMASTER Buick's we see advertised now and then, YOU know, it's a SUPER, ROADMASTER, but SPECIAL to the owner, hehe. Just add a VISOR, then it is 'REALLY SPECIAL', huh? Dale in Indy
  10. If it was a spill of mine, it would have been cleaned up within an hour of the spill, what are you waiting on,,,,,,, "GRANDMA WAS SLOW, BUT SHE WAS 84 AND EXPECTING, WHAT'S YOUR EXCUSE?" Dale in Indy
  11. If I wasn't trained to work on a Dynaflow, I surely wouldn't be commenting on such. Leave that to qualified people. Dale in Indy
  12. This flipping discussion had been beaten to death on this site. So a seller sells at a price he/she is comfortable with, then the buyer sell it for a profit, and YOU think the person should pay the first seller a portion of the PROFIT? You must be kidding yourself, do YOU feel that IF the buyer loses on his sale, that the original owner should refund him a portion of his LOSS? The facts are, a sale is a sale, no one owes anyone after that closed deal. Now if there were some games played that later proves the seller lied/cheated, then that's another story. Remembet too, the new owner has just ASKED a higher price, does not mean he will get that price. May be he will even lose, or just break even, but anyway you look at it, he owes NOTHING to the seller. Dale in Indy
  13. You should NEVER say (BENT), the proper term is (ADJUSTED). Someone ask me recently, "Dale, how did you fix that", and I said, " I ADJUSTED it", but I really SMACKED IT WITH A BIG HAMMER, that I didn't tell him, hehe Dale in Indy
  14. I agree with Matt. Can you imagine if a contest was held where anything goes, I bet some really earth shaking creations would come to life. I know abroad they go wild with creations like this, FUN is FUN, express yourself. If I were only YOUNGER, I would jump at a chance to build a super wild piece. Dale in Indy
  15. I bet in a PARADE the folks would LOVE it. I also would bet the builder/owner had a blast building it. So from my stand point, anything that is fun building, is just PURE FUN. Look, it has a VISOR, that in itself is a reason for Ben to LOVE it. Right Ben??? Sure must have a healthy frame, and will need a lot of room to turn. Dale in Indy
  16. Fitty Fo, aka LAMAR/MR. EARL would give the farm for one of dim FITTY FO'S, don't ya think? A good friend of mine ran a Buick at Daytona, Les Snow, aka TIGER SNOW. I also recall he is pictured in one one the Buick books. Dale in Indy
  17. I also note that YOU don't own a Reatta, were you NOT a believer? Just wondering, NOTHING personal, Dale in Indy
  18. I note GM didn't feel a lady was needed, In the seven business we owned and operated we employed lots and lots of ladies, and OH, so many were very valued employees. Dale in Indy
  19. I always liked the Art Deco look of this car. Also I really liked the SIMPLE grill, so smooth and eye appealing, IMO. The car BEGS for two tone, WITHOUT SCALLOPS, hehe. You didn't think I would ever admit to such, huh? I wish you well, Dale in Indy
  20. It is a model that I, along with millions of others, LIKE. It is suggested to be MOSTLY original, to me the pictures of the engine area suggest it WASN'T a car that was pampered. As is always the case, only one buyer needs to come forward and pay the FLIPPER the asking price. Unless YOU are a TALLENTED (Do-it-yourself person), the cost to make it a show piece would really put you upside down, IMHO. With this said, it IS a neat piece, but it AIN'T a 1949 vert, we all know how fast that would sell. Dale in Indy
  21. This is what has helped me in the past. * Smack the head of the bolt HEAD ON first * Spray Liquid wrench, or what you like to use around the bold. The hammer smack sometimes opens a space for fluid to flow. * Wait over night, spray again. * With wrench in hand, first try to TIGHTEN the bolt a tad, then try backing it out, sometimes I have found it helpful to go back and forth, rather than trying to remove with one action. Kind of like you do when you are cutting new threads on a bolt. * Don't use an extra length wrench, and STOP if a normal wrench doesn't do the trick. * Heat the bolt, and SMACK it again. I understand some will disagree with my methods, but often they have worked for me. Oh, I have broken my share, but most is when I got in a hurry. Dale in Indy
  22. HEY Ben, don't let anyone talk you into removing the VISOR, if YOU like it, that's all that counts. I just kid HARD sometimes, FORGIVE ME, Dale in Indy
  23. Fitty Fo, You sure got that BEAUTIFUL Buick shirt dirty, YOU bad! Wishing you well in selling,,,,, Dale in Indy
  24. Back in the late 90's I bought a lot of parts from APPLE CHEVY in NY. They offered any GM parts you wanted. I have no clue as whether they still do, but they were super fast, and fair prices. I even bought. A LT-1 Vette crate engine from them, over night delivery. Dale in Indy
  25. I also like the HALF painted bumper systems. It's a subtle modified piece, super duper SPECIAL. Dale in Indy
