  1. Hi Ian, I have a puller 2 3/8 " X 16 TPI PM me if you still want it Ron
  2. Mpgp 1999, You mention that the holes in the discs are oval. I assume this was caused because the springs were not fitted when the plates were replaced 3 years ago. The sad news is that fitting the springs now is like closing the gate after the horse has bolted. I would suggest new plates as well No sense in half doing the job seeing that they are not the easiest of trannys to remove
  3. Hello EJOWest If you can find the frame number it will be a big help The DB Club has a Booklet that will tell you of all the changes to you car at what number and also the date From memory I think the man to contact is John Bittance
  4. Many years ago, about 1972 or around that year I owned a Honda Scamp 600cc . I was on my way to see my parents in a town aprox 85 miles from where I was living. Eight miles from my destination I came across an old school mate broken down on the roadside The short version of the story is that he was in a Ford Tank Fairlane and I towed him the 8 miles to Harvey down the main street the the repairers There was no problem about me going too fast ,from memory we got up to about 20 mph and that was down hill Mimmie has never forgiven me for the flack that he got with his Ford being towed by a motor bike on 4 wheels. I sold that little car in 1976 with 82000 miles on the clock
  5. That is one way or just disconnect the line from the tank to the vac tank and that will stop the gasoline from going into the engine and flooding it Also remove the top of the tank and check to see if the brass seats have not come loose This is the main cause of the problem you are having
  6. Only the last post of the stuff off ebay has the correct 28 Fast 4 engine The rear axle and torque tube are earlier (28 had open tailshaft ) It would be a shame to spoil that pretty little coup with non original running gear Have patience my friend It took me 40 years to get the correct front bumper bar for my 2249 Senior.
  7. much easier than a Ford as there is no torque tube
  8. Head CAUTION in the transmission and the differential as modern oils contain additives that EAT away bronze bushes and gears Penrite make oils that are "yellow metal" friendly
  9. Good luck Marty I love those late 40s Mopars . In Australia we only had 1 choice a sedan . I have fond memories of riding in my uncles 48 Plymouth and another one had a Chrysler. Both we great cars

Harry , I have just found your post I can photograph a spare flywheel (I have 3 ) and could email it to you Please let me know Ron
  11. I have a 1913 French Mors car with carbide lights and to replace the non existing originals I used some old convex clock glasses that I had re-mirrored Again they are only for display lights but look the part
  12. Looking just fantastic You are going to be so proud of this car when you have completed the restoration You are doing a great job
  13. On my 2249 Senior the webbing only went between the frame and the splash apron. There was nothing between the apron and the wood base. Myers sell a webbing that is impregnated with a tar like substance that makes it moisture resistant From memory I think it was 1/8'' thick may have even been 5/32'' As for the fenders some vehicles have a fender piping between the fender and frame.
  14. Hey Dave, I banged my head where you said and now the computer has a cracked screen. LOL
  15. Not saying that you have to go the Toyota way They have the hand brake on the rear of the trans as well Internal expanding instead of the contracting band like on the Chrysler
  16. Hi Stooy Twenty odd years ago I was on a big Rally and one of the entrants was a big Chrysler Roadster of around 28 or 29 and it went like the clappers The bloke that owned it had fitted the Transmission out of a Toyota Dyna light truck These are a 5 speed O/D box
  17. Sorry I should have said that the faces are available from Tom and Cindy Myers
  18. David, You have a Gemmer box These are re-buildable. Setting them back up can be a PIA There is a great chapter on how to do so somewhere on these forums
  19. David,Does your DB have Dodge Bros own steering box or a Gemmer box ? Either were fitted
  20. If you try Myers early DB parts they have them in repo
  21. Looks like a Heinz Model 57 varieties
  22. F&J The front and rear bearings have been replaced. 24 Roadster, Did you remove the inner seals on the sealed bearings? If not it is a good idea to do so as many of the sealed bearings have just enough grease in them to stop the balls from rusting. Remove the inner seal and they are then lubed by the trans oil the symptoms point to the input shaft and or the sliding gear as Ray suggested Hope you find the problem
  23. Pete611 The reason that you have a Delco distributor is that the North East units are made of Pot Metal and are prone to falling apart The Montana Boys that are racing DB fast 4s may have spares for sale
