  1. I would resleeve the master cylinder and wheel cylinders. You are risking nothing by rebuilding the original parts. What if these new parts don’t bolt right up? Then you’re in the return for refund mode and plenty of times that can be painful. I even had my clutch disc and pressure plate rebuilt like this because with antique parts you can’t be 100% sure that they will get it right. There is one major player who I will not name here that sells “close enough” products. I know, it happened to me, caveat emptor!
  2. After hearing stories of Chinese replacement brake parts, I sent wheel cylinders and master cylinder to Hagens Auto Parts in Puyallup, Wa for rebuilds. The best part of this method is you’re getting back your original pieces, no b.s. no disappointments.
  3. In regards to the oil bath air cleaner, if the oil is dirty replace with 50wt. That’s a real fine car you have there. A previous owner of my 36 had the same idea and dropped a 56 flathead into it. Everything from 36 was fitted to that block except the distributor, bolts right up to the original tranny. By the 50’s they were building a better engine, I’ve kept mine the same. Other than the casting numbers the only visible difference is head bolts instead of studs and nuts. Enjoy that sweet ride!
  4. Different paint alright, what wouldn’t most of us give for this beauty!
  5. I saw the Hot Rod Lincoln in a small car museum outside of Spokane, Wa. Pretty wild looking chop of the Lincoln frame and Model A coupe on it. I wonder if anyone else on here has seen the car? Unfortunately I’ve got no photo to show.
  6. Rain is the enemy in the Pacific Northwest. Everything that rots here is from the outside in. Rust near the ocean has salt which will speed up the process, but I think the wet weather we get here in Seattle does a fine job on its own.
  7. I'll bet the Ford guy is heading up to "eclipse country"!
  8. The windshield frame drain has fittings that take a hose about the size of heater hose. The driver side piece is long and travels over to the pass. side and goes into a y- joiner that meets the pass. side hose and then exits out a hole up high on the right side firewall.
  9. The drive shaft of the motor fits through the hole in the body and is there where a rubber gasket, washer and nut hold things down. I purchased the arms and wipers from Roberts Motor Parts. These are the same as the originals and require no adapter.
  10. Kgreen, Sorry, I should have said "if" your car isn't a full classic. I mean to say most of the pre war cars with side mounts were full classics, most but not all.
  11. Yep, side mounts matter. It's good too when your car isn't a full classic.
  12. Edd is the reason I watched the show. Too bad.
  13. I'm thinkin that roadster would look good in my garage!?
  14. To answer the question, its "all y'alls".
  15. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from The Barrett's!
  16. That's a nice piece but the one I want is in the center of your bumper, probably 15 inches? Thanks.
  17. Zuodar, Here's a pic of whats left of the shield on my 36. Its connected by nuts and bolts. The rubber measures 1 3/4 inches wide. Raw sheet goods are probably the only way to get there.Very nice looking car you have! I'm looking for a grill guard like on your front bumper, can you help? Steve.
  18. Wow Dave, If I ever have a grill issue at least I know who to come see. Not to hijack the thread, but speaking of grills, does anyone have a grill guard for sale? The big one that looks like a shark tooth?
  19. Great to hear the repairs went well. Good looking family, I particularly like the period correct glasses on the kids!
  20. Hi Pete, Great looking car. It looks very solid and with your mechanical skills, it should be running soon. I like your idea of putting it back on the road "as is". If you're tempted to go any further I'll save you half the investment by checking out The WPC News of The Walter P Chrysler Club, right now there's a 36 Dodge 4 door sedan with dual side mounts for sale under $14 k. Good luck with your project and I'll be checking on your progress here. Steve.
